LBJ shifts his attention from Southern Vietnam to the close ally of Britain. LBJ gets a blank check and starts sending troops and firearms to maintain the containment policy. Before U.S. troops land in Britain the Soviets lend nuclear missles to the Irish. This prevents any large scale attacks but the C.I.A sends agents to spark insurections in the Socialist Republic.

Basically would turn into another Cuban Missle crisis. Except with the Irish.

The Royal Navy and the U.S. Navy attempt to blockade support to the IRA and end up in a stalemate with the Soviet Navy. LBJ begins "Peace Talks" with Kruschev but only ends up angering him to the point of another Soviet blockade of Berlin. Unable to risk a portion of the Airforce; LBJ denies West Berlin airlift assistance and they begin to starve. Soon enough Kruschev simply takes Berlin and the U.N. beg the U.S. for assistance and they receive none. The U.S. and Allies flee East Germany and the Berlin wall is torn down in favor of Communism.

Also, NATO would have never allowed a Soviet military base in the British Isles. It just wouldn't have happened.

 

Not exactly. The Soviet Military base now has nuclear missles making it impossible for NATO to stage a large assault. The Irish Catholic part I have no idea about but it seems they are getting a civil rights law issued so they may be fine with it.

 

What I mean is that the missiles never would have gotten there. That is something that we gladly would have went to war over, risking armageddon sure, but it would not have been allowed.

 

There doesn't even have to be nuclear weapons, just a Soviet alliance were they send the Republic arms, ectectera.

 

Cuban Missle crisis like Songbird said. Those missles made it into Cuba past the Atlantic. LBJ is an asshole and goes to war over stupid shit but he knows that he can't enjoy his blood money if the world is destroyed. Such as JFK striking a deal with the Russians to not invade Cuba and take missles out of Turkey if they take missles out of Cuba. We haven't touched the Cubans since a few monthes ago.

 

And that was a conference of the Americas or something.

 

But that's not at all what happened.
The warheads never made it to Cuba, the US Navy blockaded Cuba, keeping out the Soviet Navy, and Khrushchev backed down so long as the US didn't invade Cuba (which was a very possible option).
As a show of good will, the US removed some missiles from Turkey.

 

It's a "what-if" kind of thing.

 

I understand, it's a cool idea, I'm just playing Devil's Advocate.

 

Yeah, no, I understand it's just - y'know, everyone does WW2, or America in the Middle East, HL2RP or something based off of a popular videogame. I like to twist history into different scenarios.

 

I'm working on an alternate history short story/schema myself, so I understand. A lot of that is probably non-nonsensical.

 

I couldn't do this by myself, even though I really want to. Simple fact is, I don't know how to do anything.
