HL2RP Aphelion | Half-Life 2 Roleplay

So far the server is awesome! There's a few tiny tidbits that had bothered me over the past few days, but so far it's been a success!

 

I came on it and done a work cycle. Got complimented by a few for my RP, I then bust open the sewer door, making the lock blow up. Had the police chase me up to the top of the apartments and then I killed my character lol. Didn't have time to be arrested cos 2am

 

Administration is ultra appreciative of those that contribute to interesting and decent RP regardless of what angle they RP from be it resistance, UU, etc.

I see like 8 people on my friends list a day on Aphelion so I might aswell consider joining. I haven't bothered RPing since Argon closed (because that was honestly the one thing that made me want to stop RPing altogether) but I'll give it a shot.

 

Absolutely awful administration, only cater to those who kiss ass to them. I've seen a honest player tell an operator about a minge, and the operator then told him to go away because he was being annoying and obnoxious. Naturally the minge continued to wreak havoc on the server. The other admins ignore any criticism with sarcasm and D4nk Meme$; as it seems they can't accept ridicule. They also deny any claims that they have done something wrong in any way. Perhaps if the staff learned that being an administrator was more about responsibilities like being objective and unbiased when it comes to conflict; rather than the power the position comes with it could improve.

The players are decent enough, but are too afraid to stand up to the admins.

Unless you're planning to suck up to a holier than thou administration team, avoid this server like the plague.

I'm not trying to appear against the server at all; I just think that people should understand what they're getting into here. I do believe the administration team has a large amount of things to improve upon, and could likely do so by diciplining and removing some amongst their ranks.

But you wanted evidence, so here's a screenshot from the console how admins reacted to a complaint and other things.


"Padder" is a super-admin and Vincent Nacon is an admin. Anyone who has been on the server can likely confirm this. As you can see, they are quick to dismiss criticism by criticizing those who have brought the complaint to them. Padder's comments in particular are very dismissive and ignorant of any that the admins do not send their favor to. He even justifies an admin directly insulting a user.

With staff like Padder representing the server, it really makes you question the owner's ability to pick his own admins. I would even question his ability to lead his own administration team; as he clearly is allowing them to ridicule players like this openly and without consequence. They lack no grace in dealing in conflict with normal players. I'm sure for any new players, witnessing this would be a massive turn-off. I do not want to be part of a community where their higher-ups can openly insult and ridicule me for daring to call them out on their mistakes.

As I said earlier, until this admin team improves I do not recommend playing on this server in the slightest.

 

Hi, I was also on this server recently and I can tell you right now that my experience was probably worse than Assyrian.

First off, I wanted to give HL2RP another shot as my old server had died and I wanted to try something out after a month of it being gone. I heard that this server was populated but as we all know, population doesnt always make a good server. I decided to try it out for myself instead of taking the word from somebody else and my first impression was, "Cool.". I hadn't seen a server like it before at first glance. But surely enough, an hour in, people are in the back room having citizens fight each other which I guess I can see being interesting. The more I looked into it though, the more I discovered how mingy it became as there were i5s and SqLs looking at the uncivilized act, along with other citizens cheering off to it.

I looked over it for awhile, finding others to RP with and surely enough I found some really nice people to talk to and get into situations with. Things really took a turn when a friend I had met wanted to go to the Grotto and we saw two admins just observe off into the slums! Everything was blocked off, yet they have can go into the slums because they have the power of observe? That's insane! I looked over that (again...) as my friend and I turned around back to the city. We then saw these two players trying to go into the slum, one claiming to be a regular who had known the rules and another who seemed like he played for a few days. A fight was brewing with a 2 v 2, and when my friend tried to pick up a glass shard, the regular stated, "No auth, no IC items." WHAT? FOR A GLASS SHARD? THAT'S INSANE. We bickered for over 15 minutes, and I knew this was a troll so we tried to leave but he followed us.

Two CPs came by (Both i5s btw) and started swearing at us. We told them to leave us alone because the situation was OOC but they ignored us. One of the CPs was an Operator too! And he said for us to all get on the wall! The troll went AFK as we had to deal with these two units who were as dumb as a bag of rocks because they didnt understand how stupid and OOC this situation was; even AFTER telling them what happened. The Operator called us annoying and voided it without all parties agreeing to void. I was incredibly frustrated and decided to go to the Grotto. This is when I finally stopped playing, because all this one player wanted was to keep his gun at hand. Two guys called themselves the "Black Widows". There also was a girl there who was casually watching the pool game. She must've been new to the server and I feel bad about how the whole situation turned out to be. From what we tried to do and how it ended up after we tried.

This entire thing was a fuck up so instead of a wall of text, I'm gonna try and repeat the scenario as I wasnt focused on making a review til a few days after leaving server.
First, the blackwidow invited me to join if we killed the girl.
Second, this guy walks in with a gun.
Third, another guy walks in, tackling the guy with the gun.
Fourth, Two guys get shot, one sneaks over and tackles him from the other side. Two guys are dogpiling the guy with the gun.

Now shit begins to get stupid. The girl wasn't said at all because she contributed no RP (hence why I suggested she was new) and just mingeran all over the place. The guy with the gun tried to stall us by using OOC to get the admin and call us out on the shit we pulled fairly. He THAN does a full 180 degree turn and minge shoots the guy behind him. We mingepunch him so he can't failrp and so we can continue what we were doing.

Enough of a clusterfuck for you? I talked to the admin afterwards and immediately quit as soon as one told somebody to shut up for speaking there opinion on what they thought of the server.

I'll back it up with my own input as an admin on Aphelion.
I've been growing tiresome of Aphelion as a whole to this point. Not to say that I don't like the people behind it, Kenny and Sheeplie are great people and I like them a lot or that the RP is bad, I've had my greatest roleplaying experiences on Aphelion. But there are a lot of things wrong with the admin team. The most inactive admins are in most cases the best and want only the most for the server, and most well prepared admins, the opposite is true as well. A grand majority of the admins are just terrible. Awful admins, especially Duspende.

People seem to bring up the topic of the MPF as well, which I agree (and most of the other admins will too) it is terrible. As a former SqL on the server I really hope I wasn't the cause of the disarray. I attempted to be a levelheaded, easy going SqL who was serious when he needed to be, and took fingers when he needed to. I decided to just delete my SqL since to be real here, the MPF is trash. The pure fact that some of the higher ranked admins can just ass pull worthless 'squads' that actually do nothing and contribute nothing other than to their own enjoyment of the experience as a hole is just pathetically sad, and I had a rough time with dealing with that IC & OOC. And as of right now we have 3 SqLs, and 2 of them I see as completely incompetent.

But that's just my two cents.

 

i wrote a damn good app, put a lot into it, then when i asked kenny why there were lackluster apps being accepted he just told me "if we accepted only good ones then we'd have only around 7 cp's"

i'd rather have 7 good cp's rather than 30 more who are complete tards and ruin situations by having itchy trigger fingers and failing to understand how lives work

 

Maybe I should just put in my app without finishing the scenarios then.

I understand what type of person you attempt to make me out to be, but I'll inform you that I'm not like that. To me it seems like you're trying to save face by calling me such without sufficient evidence to back up your claim. I created a C16 account so that I could inform others of what's going on in this server. I felt like people should know about what's actually happening in this server.

You seemed to have not learned from the incident during that event, as you continue to disregard what point I'm trying to make by ridiculing me, just as you did back on the server. I cannot speak for the others that were there but I can say that it was not my attempt to cause havoc, chaos, and stop RP on the server. I apologize if that was the result of my actions. I merely am posting to inform others of the severe unprofessional of the admin team and request that it be approved.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to throw such an accusation against me, as I never did such a thing to you. If it's pleasing to you then I'd like you to know I will not be returning to the server, or at least not until noticeable changes are made in the staff's behavior and attitude.

 

What the hell happened? Three weeks prior everyone said the server was good and even I had a pleasurable experience with Canoness and a few other guys on here. I do have to admit though after looking through the forums and from what everyone is saying, yeah sucking the admins dick gets you far in the server and it's bothersome how that's allowed. The idea of Aphelion is awesome - power to the people, but Sheeplie just seemed to hire all the wrong guys for admin.

Damn, wasn't expecting this server to get shitty too.
