I thought the A-10 Warthog was going to out of U.S service anyways, that's what some guy with a plane fetish in my history class had said.

 

It's not a 100% definite thing yet from what I've heard

 

Who here can fly helicopters well? When I say this, the following criteria must be met:

1. Able to keep a helicopter steady without using autohover - when I say steady, we should be essentially able to shoot someone without an issue.
2. Able to land it without using autohover
3. Comfortable having people hanging off your chopper for a short amount of time as they fastrope
4. Capable of getting out of hairy situations (can you fly low to avoid locks?)

It won't be a permanent thing, just would like it for a possibly cool mission I have where I want to be on the ground!

 

I can manoeuvre like that, although I probably won't take the kinds of risks you did at 1:40 and 2:02 unless I was actually being locked on to.

11% of airstrikes are A-10 planes against ISIS, but I can see it going out of service in awhile.

 

The military wants to use F-35s in a tank killer role.
Show me a F-35 with a GAU/8 and maybe I'll let the A10 go.
As far as I'm concerned they're the best god damned CAS platform in the military's inventory.

 

The GAU-8 sucks against any conventional tank that isn't a T-42
