you dont understand the idea of a rolling system like @5ym5's and @Sixx's. Their systems don't replace roleplay, they are a platform for roleplay. They still write the /me's, they still do the actions, they still roleplay, only now there's nothing to argue about when you roll a 20 and another person rolls a 1. The system draws from the player's stats. Now there's no arguing or guessing when it comes to a character's power/skill/fighting ability. The system makes the gamemode more fun.

Tabletop roleplaying games use this system for a reason. It's a good idea. If any of you had played on one of 5ym5's servers you'd realize how valuable and fun a system like this is. Unfortunately, you're all too stubborn to try anything new, and that's why kurozael abandoned clockwork to go work on some destined-to-fail game and the serverlist is full of the same exact rebranded servers.

2018 called this thread is shit and you're all fags

This whole post literally trumps everyone else's bullshit lol

You just can't trust anyone to P2L anymore. Even the best of RPers aren't going to admit when they're wrong. I prefer S2K but rolling can be fun too, honestly. I hate combat being based on RNG but what other options do you have?

the way I see rolling and it's purpose for existing is; every single thing you do can have a million different outcomes, you're not always going to do everything 100% right no matter how trained you are, this goes for irl situations and roleplay, and by rolling you're keeping everything random, because everything in life is also random. this element of randomness (or controlled randomness if you ARE trained to do something irl or have high stats in game) keeps everything unpredictable and that's the way it should be, if you act out a course of predictable actions in combat then where's the fun? where's the satisfaction in rolling a 90 knowing you needed it desperately to go right? where's the "oh shit, better think carefully about my next action" when you roll really low in a dire situation? rolling keeps you thinking in the critical moment, just like you would do if you were, y'know, actually being shot at or something, knowing everything you do is a risk and rolling is taking that risk and seeing what the outcome is.

tl;dr rolling is fun and people just don't like the fact their highly trained rebel character can't instakill people with P2L.

  13. not everything is random. there are certain actions that have definite outcomes.

for example, say your character is bound and surrounded by armed guards in preparation for an execution. once the executioner comes up and prepares to put a bullet between your eyes, there really isn't anything you can do. shoehorning randomness into an otherwise definite situation is usually a recipe for disaster.

those circumstances are what brought P2L into popularity but then everyone started applying it into situations which had many outcomes but they were so certain only had one which is theirs. let's not be pedantic, in situations where you are totally useless then yes of course P2L, but otherwise just roll, don't be a dumbcunt and make out that just because rolling is stupid in some situations means it's stupid in all of them
(that's not aimed at you that's just the attitude of a lot of people)
