HL2RP Best things to get when donating

Hello everyone, I'm interested to see what everyone like to see in a Half Life Two Role play donation system! (In other words, what should players receive for donating).

 

Honestly, if you want the best system, give them nothing but a 'donor' user group and a big thank you.

But that's gonna hinder the amount people (small kids with their mom's credit) who'll be donating. It's best to provide them with extras or bonuses, never any kind necessities that would otherwise prevent normal people from such a MPF or CWU whitelist. I personally never give tokens/cash because it screws the economy up bad and makes it pay to play.

If you really want to make a fair donation system and still earn enough to upkeep your community, go for flags, special forum tags, maybe their own TeamSpeak channel. Don't limit regular players so that donators can hog all the special factions and abilities.

 

Maybe pet flags for donators, Or do you think that would be a little unfair?

 

Dynex makes their Global OOC donator only an I hate it, don't do that. Offer TnB Models and exclusive weapons for MPF. While regular MPF get Standard MP7 you might give them one with attachments or something. Nothing that really changes game play, just aesthetic stuff.

 

Depends.

I offer pet flags, but mostly everywhere in my server is already furnished, including the apartments. So really, the pet flags are if you want to go above and beyond what's already been placed.

 

Know what the best thing to get is when donating?
Nothing.
No 'perks'.
No whitelists that are blatantly sold out of your asshole to capitalise on stupid kids that like to throw money and obtain things that people who genuinely RP and dedicate time and effort for will never see.
No stupid freaking 'status' or 'title' that makes people that didn't donate feel like an sub-class or lesser quality in some way.
No bonuses like tokens, stupid gimmicky little 'xen' whitelists or other BS just to get extra money.
No crap about helping the community, just because you would rather run a corporation than a community and mask it as such.
No digging your grubby little paws into the hl2 scene and claiming you're about a new age and then not being anything unique, different, or even good just to make money.
No two-tier status crap about offering 'choices' when we all know you're going to soup up the second choice so the first isn't even viable.
No sticking it to the people that actually RP by getting nothing simply because you care more about money than actual quality of community.
No copy/paste communities with zero quality and simply made for the sole purpose of generating funds through donations.
So no, When donating, it's best you get nothing.
Because correct me if i'm wrong, but 'donating' means it's not for something in goddamned return.

I see nothing wrong in giving OOC things.

 

Servers can't survive without donations, people want stuff for donating, quickest solution to keeping community alive, offer things for donations.Like duck said, there's no problem with giving silly ranks or junk away for donating. The titles just make people happy cus they're like, Oh I donate, I feel cool now cus I helped the server out and I get a cool name tag. Just as long as you don't pull an LNG and give out revolvers and junk.

 

Donators will mostly get OOC items/rewards. The only IC reward would be pet flags. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions on helping me decide what to add for donators.

 

Give dedicated members PET as well.

 

MFW pet flags is considered an IC thing.

And on-topic, the way I see it, people who donate keep the server up for everyone else (even though who don't donate) to play on. If a non-donator has a problem with a donator getting some things, then that's his problem. As long as the perks don't put part of the roleplay behind a pay-wall, what's the problem? Everyone is there to roleplay and everyone is treated equally when it comes to roleplay. You don't need pet flags to roleplay, so I don't see why people complain about that.

 

I set up an application for members to apply at if they wish to get pet tools.

 

Have you seen that Clone wars server? The only way to get anything other than the basic loadout is to donate. I hate pay to play servers. They never even go on missions I have no idea how they stay open.
