Hello everyone, I am recently experiencing a lack of players on my server. Please feel free to give me some suggestions on how to gain *actual* roleplayers. Thanks.

  2. I agree. I would like to know how to boost players who actually roleplay onto my server. ;)

If only players took role play a bit more serious, I think we would have a chance. I think when HL3 gets announced, or close to release people might flock to HL2RP servers.

  4. Depends on the type of people you want. If you want shit roleplayers, just follow what all the other servers are doing. If you want actually decent roleplayers, just have patience and wait. Maybe somebody will go on and review your server and it'll gain some more good people. Don't get discouraged by a low playerbase, a playerbase of five experienced roleplayers is better than a playerbase of thirty shit-tier roleplayers.

The problem is, there is only a player base of two XD But thanks, I will keep that in mind.

  6. From what I'm guessing the community hasn't been up for too long, so it's probably best to just wait a bit. I'll probably join later on tonight, I've been meaning to join several HL2RP servers but I haven't had the time to lately.

I could argue. When it comes out, the playerbase will go away to go and play HL3. That's how it works. You wont get more people playing that way. I got a lot of players on my first day of the Borealis Gaming relaunch(about 26 people out of 32 slots.) and on my original version we got 25-30 people a day. It just depends on the time of the year. During summer is the big time of when you get players and during winter break. You have to work hard during those periods, especially winter break, to keep people interested. People still do have a life, you know. I don't really know, to be honest, how I got so many players on both the original Borealis Gaming and the relaunch. Players attract players, I guess.
    Good luck.

  9. well if you want players to come to your server and stay

    1. invite your buttbuddies
    2. have your admins take shit without getting mad and permabanning them because they're 12 (i.e i hope you choke on sulfiric acid you piece of shit)
    3. make it a fun enviroment for everyone, and when i mean everyone, its everyone, no circlejerks, plazarp, also actually take jokes like 'im ddosing you fagg0t attack sent!1' and not perma for "DDS THRTS!!!'

thats how the server i was server manager on went and i got 7 players peak

In my experience, you need friends if you want a lot of players early on, and by friends, I mean the kind of friends you travel with to different servers.

I honestly like the idea of multiple players on a server at once, it makes me happy that I can attract this many people. But at the same, it brings chaos and annoyance. I agree with Top-Hat, I'd prefer to have a few, good, competent roleplayers - than thirty shit ones.

To help you out a bit, you need to make the server enjoyable from every viewpoint. Keep at it, and don't be discouraged. Giving up is the last thing you want to do. People will come eventually, it just takes time.
