Borealis Gaming is a serious roleplay community revolving around the renowned novel, Metro 2033, by Dmitry Glukhovsky. The story line of Metro 2033 is full of vast opportunities for serious roleplay and as a community, they have taken grasp of this opportunity and have put it in action via Clockwork. They strive to provide a quality, detailed roleplay experience for all who wish to participate. The staff team is made up of the leader administrators, or Super Administrators. They rarely have normal admins who are not faction leads. As a whole staff team they work together to provide new events, ideas, development and content for the community to keep players captured in the roleplay experience. We do not offer staff applications and instead look for our staff members in a different fashion - by choosing them for their helpfulness in game, for their roleplay experience and for their attitude. We interview each and every candidate by voice before allowing them near a staff position. We hope you enjoy our player friendly roleplay experience.

    A WALK THROUGH THE METRO...
The Metro story line is in short set in the aftermath of World War III. The capital of the Russian Federation, Moscow, is struck by nuclear missiles which levels much of the city and leaves much more in shambles. About 300,000 people manage to escape to the Moscow Metro (which, in reality, is an actual nuclear shelter!). Those who escape continue life normally for some time in the aftermath of the war, but the old Russian government had little control of how the Metro would evolve. Many factions and groups evolved from the stations and tunnels, ranging from the Communist Red Line, and the Fascist Fourth Reich to the 1905 Confederation and the Great Worm Cult. On top of new factions taking over the Metro (rendering the old government into oblivion), many of the animals on the surface are mutated from the radioactive waste. Many of the 'mutants' manage to get into the Metro, via damaged Hermetic Doors that lead into the Metro from the surface. FUN FACT: One of the most famous Hermetic Doors in Metro is the one that Artyom left open when he headed to the surface as a child with his friends. This brought the Dark Ones to the Metro, as well as other mutants. The mutants wreak additional havoc onto the already struggling Metro. Even in the aftermath of total world destruction, war over ideology is all but nonexistent. The Red Line and the Capitalistic Hansa wage a large war. More famously the Red Line and Fourth Reich start a long war which is featured in the game and novel, Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light.

Our section of the Metro is called the Netzona sector. It is fictional, but generally thought to be by Tverskaya and Lubyanka, though not directly in the field of battle. The main station that survivors are directed to is called 'Freedom' station, which is also a custom lore station. It does not have a solid government, but does have a guards group that defends the station from frequent mutant and bandit attacks. The Red Line and Fourth Reich are active in this sector, although they mainly fight in the tunnels away from 'Freedom'. 'Freedom' station recently went through a revolution, which caused quite the amount of deaths in the rebellion to take down the revolutionary government. There are many abandoned areas in the Netzona tunnels as well. A small cross section, known as 'Doomed', is much like the 'Cursed' station in Metro 2033. It is frequently attacked by mutants, but its dwellers are positioned by the only Hermetic Door in the area and thus it is very important. The area is known for a vast amount of dangerous tunnels and for its collapsed lines that cut off alternate paths to Tverskaya and Lubyanka.

Our community follows both the lore from the book and from the video game. We mainly follow the video game lore since the majority of our communities role players are used to the game.
You may also read from here or you can play the video game or even read the book! Both are great.

We have a vast array of factions to become a part of. We even allow small playermade factions for those who wish to create one.

Survivors are the mainframe of all roleplay in our community. It is what you start as. There are plenty of opportunities as a survivor. You could be an adventurer, a mercenary, a store clerk, a trader, a scavenger, etc. Its your choice of what you become. Survivors are the fortunate living humans of the Great War of 2013, since each were about one of 300,000 people allowed in the Metro (there was about 12.1 million people in Moscow in 2013). We allow expansive roleplay scenarios for survivors and allow them to participate in all events. We offer opportunities for Survivors to thrive in the main station, 'Freedom'. They can become citizens, join the guards unit or be a trader. We love to receive ideas for this faction and are coming up with our own as you read this.

The Red Line is a socialist and communist faction that is highly influenced by the Soviet Union. They have a gigantic army of less well trained soldiers, which makes them a strong force in numbers but not necessarily in quality. The majority of the soldiers have crude Bastard Guns which are not worth much and are not a huge problem to lose to the enemy. They actively recruit new members and are in a continuous war with the fascist, Nazi Fourth Reich.

The Fourth Reich is a fascist, Nazi faction that is highly influenced by the Third Reich and the reign of Adolf Hitler. They appear to have evolved from a smaller group into the tough, brute force oriented faction of the Metro. It is unknown why the Russian Metro dwellers decided to create a fascist faction. They follow the German Army ranking and do have a Fuhrer, who performs speeches regularly at the main Reich stations.

Mutants... those horrible things who formed from other animals and even humans who, before, may have been relatively harmless. They contain a large array of different types, all formed from different animals. The most common are Nosalises in the Metro and Watchmen on the surface. Most notable are the Dark Ones, who formed from humans and have developed telepathic powers.

There are a few other factions, as well. Such as Hansa; the trading based faction of which is the only faction with modern technology. Even working computers. There is the Rangers of the Order, which are not active in this area of the Metro and therefore do not exist in this sector except for rare visits. There is the 'Freedom' Station Defense which is the main army defense force of 'Freedom' station. They run very low on supplies and lose a few men each attack, but hold the station with all will. There is also traders and bandits. Bandits are a survivor based thing of which anyone may become, but only in groups.

Why did we choose Metro 2033 Roleplay?

Because we felt that, yet again, Metro 2033 Roleplay has a lot of unsaid opportunities for roleplay and could really prosper for serious roleplay.

This looks like the Nox Aeterna post!

Yeah, that is because it is. The work I put into the Nox Aeterna thread is way too much to just do a simple rewording for Borealis Gaming. I used a lot of the suggestions on the Nox Aeterna thread to fix this one up and make it more useful. I also adjusted it to fit our customized server story. I would still use the same artwork. Some of you also may notice that I used some of Doux Amour's old art. He gave me the rights to all his old artwork after we talked following Nox Aeterna. He is not an administrator, nor is FPSPrussia (anymore).

How do we fund the community?

We do not fund via donations and will not be needing money for a while.

    What are our future plans?

We are trying to get a developers key for our custom Metro 2033 RP schema, so we do not have to run off a customized HL2RP base.

    Thank you...

    Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Last Metro 2033 thread you made you used the same exact images, I remember because I got banned for legitimate constructive criticism. Is the content in the thread the same too? I don't know, but I hope not. I know you thought it was too much work to just make a new one, but that's the point. Just re-using your old thread because it was good doesn't mean you should.

The art isn't even that difficult to re-create, just a banner with Gaussian blur and a horrible font kerning coupled with a scratch render and I could make this banner in 15 minutes.

Although the re-using of old resources is a good idea, just don't make it an exact copy of the old thread.

Besides that, it's good to see another 2033 server, but expect low pop. Good luck.

Eh, in a way I sort of agree, but if you spent time actually comparing the two you would notice how different it is. I added three paragraphs to the post and fixed up a lot of what was wrong with it. The thread is still fine, just please read through it before judging since you admitted you didn't even read the content.

Like I said, I don't actually know if the content is the same as the Nox Aeterna thread, I wasn't being sarcastic. I legitimately don't know lmao. I can't compare them because I don't remember the old one.

Don't take it as a con to the community man, just a way to improve.

The old one still exists on these forums XD. Thanks for the constructive criticism though, seriously. I will probably fix up and add some stuff.
