    CLOCKWORK COLLECTIONS
    http://clockworkcollections.com/ (UN-RELEASED, PLACEHOLDER WEBPAGE)

    _______________

So I finally managed to snag the http://clockworkcollections.com domain that I've been trying to get for awhile. Now that I have it I figured that I'd share this project that I worked on a long time ago that I never got around to finishing. I hope to have the first iteration released after I finish up the initial constructors for my Clockwork Constructors website, or after I completely finish that site (it'll depend on how I feel at the time).

The reason I started this project was so that I could learn how to make a dynamic website because I've never really made one with this kind of scale before. So far it's been a great learning experience and I'm sure that there's much more to learn as I continue development. The other reason I'm making this is to (unintentionally) add some competition to the current Plugin Center. When I first mentioned my website that I was making the Plugin Center's website was released shortly after trurascalz took note of my work, coincidence? I think not. ;P

I don't intend on monetizing my website, although previously I wanted to but I don't think things would work out well if I monetized things now. It would stifle development from the community's developers because why release things for the betterment of the community when you could be making money off of it? Also I don't think kurozael would appreciate it. Now time for some discussion and pictures (please note that these are pictures from early development, things look different now)...

    List Of Plugins
The idea is to show plugins for schemas that the user selects, there's also the option to view all plugins from every schema. A blue checkmark will be shown behind plugins that have been "Verified". Being verified involves the author submitting their plugin for verification where I, or a mod of the site, would check for no errors, no malicious code, and no fraud (i.e. code stealers). Once everything checks out then your plugin is verified (see the image about Verification below for more details). Each plugin also shows minute details like its name, author, # of downloads, and when it was last edited, this is what's shown in the current version of the website.

    Viewing Plugins
You'd find what you expect to find when viewing a plugin's details. The description, what changes have been made, comments, and author options to edit your plugin. Nothing fancy.

    Verification
As mentioned before, verification puts a plugin through review to make sure there's no errors, malicious code, and fraud. This is to put the user downloading the plugin at ease knowing that what they download is safe and can be trusted. However each time a new version of the plugin is uploaded then it will have to be re-submitted for review.

    Home Page
Nothing fancy, this is just the landing page of the website. It outlines some of the website's details and general rules to abide by. The website's description as seen in the picture below may change in the future.

    Profile Dropdown
When signed in to the website you get extra options to work with. You can view your profile details, the plugins you've submitted, and ofc you can logout. The Subscriptions menu will be removed because I don't want to monetize the website.

    Plugins Dropdown
Pretty straight forward. You select which plugins you want to see for which schema, or you can add a new plugin (you must be signed in to add a new plugin).

    Admin Dropdown
This would mainly be used by myself and mods. It'll give me easy control over administrative stuff.

    Advanced Search
You can ofc fine tune your search for plugins that you may be looking for.

    Add Plugin Form
Finally there's the form for adding a plugin. It has what you could expect; entries for name, description, tags, compatibility, images, and the actual plugin's contents in .zip format.

    CLOSING THOUGHTS
    _______________
So yeah, everything you've seen so far was fully functional last I checked. You could log in, add plugins, download them, and make use of administration menus. Now... I did overhaul my website a few times and that's partly why I stopped working on things. I reworked everything so much that I just broke the entire thing, but now I've gotten things in working order for the most part. There's just a few more things to fix and then I'll be able to continue development without issue, after I finish up Clockwork Constructors though.

    Sidebar:
But RJ, why would you make such a website when there's already one available (Plugin Center)?
The thing is, I was making this website before the Plugin Center was released. I only heard about the Plugin Center and its release after I mentioned my website, although the particular details on what happened specifically is a bit foggy because it was so long ago. The other reason I'm making this website is because of what I mentioned previously, this is a great learning experience!
