Coding a new schema.

The idea of being able to create a schema has always appealed to me, clockwork is an amazing platform and is beautiful to work with from the in game side- but coding has never been my strong point. I'm able to code weapons, ammo, items and factions off of the bases given to me - simple stuff. But with the daunting task of coding something from the ground up I just get confused and stressed. So the question arises:

I want to create a custom schema, where do I begin and what are my limitations?

I have a lot of very well thought out ideas about how I want the gamemode to work, what Items I need in there and generally how it's going to play out - But I lack the knowledge to make it a reality. I'd be completely willing to pay someone to code this thing for me or even help guide me.

Leave any suggestions / tips below, I really need some direction with this.

    Help, Please!

Edit; This is probably in the wrong area but I wasn't sure where to put it.

  2. You can start by downloading the skeleton schema.

Also, how much would you be willing to pay?

    sants1 I'm an asshole. That's all.

Look, the trick to coding a schema is actually learning from codes from other schemas. If you examine what it looks like, and if you are able to identify what each function does, then your set.

I've got the skeleton schema and have been looking at HL2;RP and CW;NV whilst coding and trying to fit things together.

    The main area that I get confused at is the lua files at;

    garrysmod\gamemodes\mygamemode\schema

    (Includes files like "sv_hooks" etc.)

@somesortofduck - What kind of pricing do you feel is appropriate?

  5. It depends on how much work you're going to make them do, and the quality and uniqueness at which you want it to be.

It can go into the hundreds, depending on what you want.

I'm not really looking for much.. I can do the factions and items - I'd just need help with the files I mentioned above. Without revealing too much the theme would be WW2 with 3 factions, Axis, Allied and Civilians. I could probably build it off a HL2 base but those hooks are so confusing.

EDIT; If I bought HL2RP would I be able to change the gamemode name or would I still need to apply for a dev key?

  7. Custom schemas must be made with the skeleton schema.

Ah, I see.. Damn. It's a lot to ask duck- but would you be willing to code this for me? You clearly know your stuff - We could arrange cost and what would need to be made over pm's.

  9. I can't, LOL.

Got too many things to work on.

Haha, no problem. I'll look into working myself then

The only functions I reccomend taking from the other schemas is like, calling when a character switches characters. Stuff that is mandatory for a schema.

My schema is 'Finished' and has been sent off to kuro, how long does it take for the application for a dev key to get processed?
