Current State of Clockwork

This argument about CAX is getting really old now. CAX won't be stealing your files, we're really not interested in them. To my knowledge (don't quote me on this), it never has either. As far as I know, it never has and never will be doing anything more sneaky than check if you're allowed to run the schema, in addition to downloading some code required for CW to run (+ the adverts).

If you're naturally very untrusting of Clockwork, you've really made a poor choice in gamemodes. You should probably rethink your strategy in that case.

 

I have never said it's irrational nor have I said I expect you are expected to rely on it. I'm not always a fan of CAX or an advocate either, but most people tend to make the same senseless and groundless accusations over and over, it gets tiring.

CAX does have its problems and while Duck was trying to fix some of them, he can only do so much. It seems to me that most arguments against CAX are without any substantial proof, any sort of backing whatsoever other than "it breaks my things," which yes, it does on occasion. That's just how some software works, unfortunately. Do I think CAX is a great piece of software? No -- I'm not pro-DRM nor do I advocate it, but I do see why it is necessary in some cases. However, when development of a DRM solution has gotten more priority than the rest of the software itself, I do see the need for change. (sorry about that one, kurozael - but you know it is true).

People around here seem to enjoy blaming the entire team of Clockwork developers for the faults of one module - one they do not have the power or source of. The only one with semi-access to CAX is me at this point, since I have some information about how to use the CAX API to generate keys. Duck used to have access but no longer does. That leaves Conna with the only one that can access CAX, modify it and improve it. There's nothing we can do.

If you want something fixed, at least have the decency to send us a crash dump instead of just saying "it's CAX that is at fault, please fix this". I haven't seen anyone send a crash dump that can help us identify the issues with CAX - just people chanting "CAX caused me great discomfort".

 

I always try to be, but when you constantly have shit flung at your face for being associated with others, it gets hard. I just think people around here need to re-read a lot of the posts they write - I don't think that's too much to ask.

An average ping improvement of around 130ms faster with 50 clients connected. That's around a 30-40% improvement to ping. Hoping to get this build out soon.

I GOT A BOX FROM kurozael!!!!1! Just unboxed it, found some flawless CW with version number 2.0, HL2RP2, Severance and CAX that does not lag. Wow. Thanks kuro! Are you sure it's not Christmas?

 

Maybe we can turn this voice of lost hope and disbelief into something to prove wrong or fix?

I guess the best thing you can say is I'll believe it when I see it at this point.

I find most people are unsatisfied about things out of our control. Most of us were brought on to the team around January, it's only been 6 months since then. The factor people have to understand is that most of us have jobs, go to school/college, and have other things to work on (I myself run my own business).

However, everyone's reason for concern is understandable: CW and mostly everything related has gone un-updated since then and before. I'll leave it to you (the people) to take us at our word that work is being done, if you can't have any trust in what we say then at least have patience until we've released our work so you can see first hand.
