General Server Information

Brief Summary

DarthGaming is a community that goes way back, the community originated on a DarkRP server (Yes I know DarkRP) . The old owner of the server Tader had left the community but he had given it up to two of the staff that were on the server both named Watson and Jesture. Together they made what now is DarthGaming. The HL2RP server originated for a person named BrockDawg he is the server manager and he was chosen to create the server and get it populated. So far he/I have been successful with the server but it could always use dedicated and good roleplayers that know what they are doing.

Server Canon
October of 2016 The Combine invade, sparking the Seven Hour War.

January of 2017 The force that had invaded earth has now left. However left behind are what are known as the Combine Civil Authority and the Overwatch Transhuman Arms. These forces eventually rename city's making them to their will. Soon enough citizens are moved into them.

August of 2018 Most of all the big resistances left are wiped out except for some minor ones that are of no disturbance to the Combine Civil Authority or the Overwatch Transhuman Arms.

May of 2019 What seems to have been a year of peace for the Combine happened in this year. The resistance was mostly gone and there had been no huge issues.

March of 2020 Current time. And from here on out nothing until more is created in history.

Factions
Combine Civil Authority
The new police of earth that protect the city from any resistant force. The ranking system upon them is quite simple first the recruits go from i5 to i1. As they finish through their initiate rankings they will eventually become an Officer or (OfC). As you go up into the higher rankings you would then become an Elite Protection Unit or (EpU). Then finally after you are passed through the EpU section you would then have the choice to go even higher into the rankings to become a Divisional Leader or (DvL). Any screw ups that are made are recorded and after two you might as well be dead.

Citizen
The citizens are the last surviving humans of the Seven Hour War and the rebellions. You, as a citizen, can either comply with the CCA, or go against them. It is all strictly your choice. We do ask you, however, not to make a character just to make him into a rebel. We consider that against our rules of lulwebuling. However if you take the opposite path you would then make your ways into becoming a Loyalist.

Overwatch Transhuman Arm
The Overwatch Transhuman Arm are rarely seen. You'd be lucky to see one in your life. But unlucky because if you see one, you get the fuck out of there.

Civil Worker's Union
The Civil Worker's Union is normally weak in most other servers however here we try to spice things up. How you ask first off we have three divisions inside of the Worker's Union. We have maintenance, medical, and sales divisions. Yes you can say it almost all servers have them what is so different from them to yours? Our server has many events for the Civil Worker's Union so they do not just sit inside all day doing nothing like other servers do. At times there may be pipe bursts that need fixed or something even more serious that needs fixed and there is no GRID unit on command at the moment.

Elite Synth
The Combine Synth Elite Soldier is probably some descendant of the "mech". The "Combine Elite" is mentioned in the Alyx Story Fragment; it could be this unit. Overall, some concepts evolved into the Combine Guard, others into the Combine Super Soldier, to finally end up with the Overwatch Elite. Some concepts also bear similarities with the Hunter, especially the legs. These units would normally carry around something like a spear.(Yes I know seems a bit odd)

Good thread. The community as a whole looks setup and decent, however, I think you have the wrong mindset about a HL2RP server. (Along with several grammical errors in your advertisement, which happen I suppose.)

"The HL2RP server originate for a person named BrockDawg". along with "So far he/I". When writing anything, you choose a perspective, and stick to it, not half-confused third/first. Also, it "originate for a person named BrockDawg" I'm assuming you meant "originate from". Not only these, but there are several things that don't make sense, or make you look extremely unproffesional. (If the owner can't use proper grammar or writing, how would I, as a player, want to join the server with- not to be mean but... someone who can't roleplay properly? In fact, I could just join another HL2RP server with an owner who can properly use grammar, and presents his community in a more serious manner.) What I mean with the un-serious tone is stuff like this: "The Combine Synth Elite Soldier is probably some descendant..." or "...our rules of lulwebuling..."

Grammical issues aside, there is only real problem I think you have- which is the wrong mindset (as mentioned above) this is hinted at the fact that you were chosen to create the server "and get it populated", as if that was the only goal in creating your server. (To get it populated and thus possibly receive donations for a profit.)

Which to be honest does not really give me the impression of being a serious server. (If I didn't see HL2RP in the title, I would thought it'd been DarkRP.)

My advice:
In things like your announcements or threads, try to put more effort into a giving a more professional and serious tone. Along with this- be confident with things like your rules or lore. It's your server, and since most of HL2RP is up for interpretation, you can bend the lore a bit (or a lot) to your needs & liking (as long as it's a logical inference, or reasonable, etc.) There shouldn't be a "maybe this is lore idk lol". The next thing that might help is changing your goals from: "Getting more players!!!!!!" to "Receiving some good roleplayers, even if small, to have some fun." Quality over Quantity is a large phrase of advice given out when first starting HL2RP servers.

ALL of that aside... I really like your logo.

Yeah thanks so much for the criticism I will make sure I let the owner know of this and I am sorry if the community came of as more of a DarkRP server. Our owner Jesture is not quite even sure what HL2RP is besides the fact that it is more of a serious roleplay server. In fact he has not even gotten on once before which is a sad fact.
