Demonheart Roleplay| New Half Life 2 Roleplay Server

Discussion in 'Communities' started by Rakaesa, Feb 15, 2014.

  1. Demonheart Roleplay

Demonheart Roleplay was created by me with the ideal that roleplay should be better than what most make it out to be. Development should be taken into heavy consideration, it should be filled with emotion and passion, the staff should be responsible, aware and active, and the community should be open to change. I have played a lot of different roleplay on a lot of different games, including many HL2RP servers, and I know exactly what makes players mad. I've been through unjustified PKs, bad roleplay situations where development is thrown away, etcetera. I have devoted this server to making a better roleplay environment, one where everybody can have fun and still have emotional, deep, enriched roleplay, where staff will help you with whatever you need, and all suggestions from players will be considered. This is meant to be freedom of roleplay at its finest.

    Who are the Staff?

Currently, we have only three official 'high up' staff members, the rest are operators on trial.

I'm the owner, Rakaesa, or Ghost. I started internet roleplaying when I was seven years old (No joke), and have been doing so across a variety of games ever since. I've seen every genre and type that roleplay has to offer, and I've been through countless good and bad situations. Roleplay is what I put my heart and soul into, and I will try my absolute best to make this server as good as I can for everybody.

My head administrator is named "Gear". I met him on one of the first half life 2 roleplay servers I played on, where he was no more than an operator, but he's the kindest, most responsible staff member I've ever met, and his roleplaying skills are fantastic. He'll always be there to help when he's around, and he knows how to enforce the rules properly.

The server developer is "GeeMayn", the lead developer from the same server Gear was originally from, the place I met them both. He was fairly well-known there and knew what he was doing, he can manage plugins and server files easily, and he's also one hell of a good roleplayer.

    The Server

We're running Clockwork Half Life 2 Roleplay with plenty of installed plugins to improve the atmosphere and game. The setting is the year 2017, located in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

There are a few things that make our server a little different from most others.

The most prominent difference is the resistance. There is no obvious resistance force within the city. Slums are completely open to citizens, and CPs are not to patrol within them unless the have reason to believe there is criminal or anti-citizen activity. If you go into the slums, you're not likely to find a resistance group. But that doesn't mean they don't exist. I wont give specifics here, because we ICly want it to be vague, but things are different from most servers.

The next is our CCA Force. The squad/ranking system is fairly unique. CCA Are permitted to be slightly 'nicer', let's say, to citizens--Casual chit-chat is permitted if it doesn't interfere with duties, the brainwashing system is fairly minor and mostly loyalty based, it doesn't make units heartless or pointlessly cruel, which usually makes Plaza RP a pain in the ass for citizens.

CWU Apps are IC, and will be held once we have sufficient players to do so.

We have free TnB models for those who want one, and our staff is usually quite active, and very responsive when we're around, though we could certainly use new staff in the near future.

We have forums with guides and an addon/content pack located here: http://demonheartroleplay.freeforums.net/

Our administration team will happily consider any suggestions you may have, and I'll take everyone's thoughts into account, though I wont guarantee anything you say will go through.

If you wish to request authorizations for a certain backstory for a character, a special character or some kind of item, show me that you're a decent roleplayer and contact me via steam (Rakaesa Demonheart) or in-game.

I hope to see some of you around our server, we'll be happy to have you!

    Our IP is: 31.186.251.176:27015

Read until I saw Gear and Geemayn as your head staff. Geeyman is known to be a complete and utter troll of a staff member back on Exontic gaming and I have witnessed his ability to be on a community forum and he definitely does not have what it takes to do so.
Gear is alright, I suppose. He is rather nice and friendly, although he could improve on being a staff member and the fact that he is an automatic owner on this server worries me.
    6/10 thread.

  3. Gear isn't an owner, he's an administrator, and while GeeMayn can be trolly OOC he knows what he's doing, and ICly he's a very good roleplayer. Both of them have improved substantially from the time you knew them on exontic gaming, so don't make those assumptions.

A staff member who can't control himself in front of his community in OOC is not an administrator that I would want to spend my time with.

  5. Any immaturity he does is usually very minor joking and nobody has complained about him thus far, he has managed himself well enough.

  6. dub if you're honestly still holding a grudge over a long-dead community then i really dont see any reason into trying to explain myself.

if you want to give the server a go then by all means
if you're going to continue holding a grudge i'm still not gonna judge you any more or less

Please address your issues with a respective manner and correct grammar (because I know you can) before attempting to say something to me.

  8. Don't start fighting in here, you two. Take it somewhere else if you have to.

Not fighting. I'm willing to take it PM's nonetheless.

Demonheart Roleplay, a legitimate and unbiased review.
Let me start here by saying, although I do have bad experience with the owner, this 'review' is completely unbiased, and I'm here to make a point about it.

Earlier in the week I joined your server, Rakaesa. Of course, under a alias account and here is what I saw.

    Administration
    6/10
-Gear is a good guy, he know's what he's doing and is a great admin IMO.
-Ghost is a /ok/ RPer, however he tends to stick to in-bed and earlicking RP. I'm not even joking. His administration skills are VERY lacking, and he tends to get very personal with administration situations.
-GeeMayun or whatever I don't even know, I can't tell you.
-I'm not sure of the rest of the staff, though I'm 99% sure it's a bunch of Minge-Rebels from my own server. Those including Valk, Vatt, and Wasp. Therefore, I'm going to say they're not-acceptable as administration team members. They don't know how to RP and I would NEVER trust them in a admin position.

    Roleplay scenario's and possibilities.
    3/10
A quarter of the players on this server know what they're doing. They're 10/10 RPer's and can create some truly fascinating scenario's, however...the other 75% are complete numbnuts. They do /me's that can be compared to that of a two year old's first words. In my time on the server I ran into a few of these sub-par roleplayers who would do /me's like so; "/me atacks the combin and beats him up" or, "/me cooks the foods". This, in my own opinion should not be allowed. If you're going to have RPer's like this on your newly forming server, try to help them improve RP instead of scaring off veteran RPers like myself.

    Scenario's speak for themselves. Fail RPers=Fail scenario's.

    Sever Presentation.
    7/10
Perhaps this the best thing about this server. Your thread actually made me want to try playing. The 'Customized' CCA, and 'Less-Prominent' rebels seemed intriguing. However, in-game my expectations were let down.

Your forums, as a presentation are nice, there's nothing to rave about and freeforums are usually frowned upon, however I respect them. They're nice, and worthwhile. The only thing I would personally change is the background and perhaps get a custom logo instead of just text.

    Overall.
    5/10
This server isn't impressive. The admins are unresponsive, personal, and do not honestly care about anything. The plugins aren't anything to rave about, and the roleplay is dull and not worth developing. If more events/players were put in play, perhaps it could be nice.
The owner needs to work on his staff choices, and personality. Not responding, or responding a very hostile tone is the wrong way to run a server.

  11. I see a lot of grudges being held, no offense It's a well set out review and shit but you, Ghost, Valk ect have a bad past.

Exactly why /I tried/ to stay unbiased. For the most part, everything put in there is un-biased, though it /may/ get somewhat personal in some parts.

  13. To reply to everything Rig said:

Roleplay scenarios and possibilities, the server was only four days old. We have a lot planned for the future, and right now we're only focusing on things like CA Broadcasts, CWU applications, getting players involved and enjoying plaza roleplay. The resistance is entirely less-prominent, in fact I severely doubt you saw them while under your alias, and while the CCA has low numbers so far, we have one accepted player application, one potential and the admins play as the others.

As for saying my operators (Who will remain operators unless they prove they're mature and responsible enough for admin, and Valkyrie is already potentially up for demotion due to abuse of power as it is), can't roleplay, well, you're wrong. They're all incredible roleplayers.

Now, saying my roleplay sticks to the bed? Well, for five days I hadn't ERP'd on my own server even once, and I don't know where people keep getting that sort of thing, to be honest--And I've been told many times my roleplay is..Well, very good, but I'm not going to brag here, I'm going to simply say that after seven years of roleplay experience I know I'm better than 'okay'.

Things are still being set up, and most of the things you offhandedly mentioned (Like not being specific with the 'roleplay and possibilities') are bound to be fixed as we build up a playerbase with the plans I have, and I'm not making the same mistake you did.

I'm not giving all of my friends high admin positions.

I don't hand them out because they're my friends, I put them on trial because of it. Gear's an amazing admin and I know it, but the rest will stay operators, and Valkyrie might even be demoted. They don't get any special benefits other than being given a chance, and I watch their progress heavily.

Shesh this is a lot of drama over a video game, don't you think?

The only suggestion I have for this thread is that you add a few pictures to your main post, although I am sure you put effort into the text, visuals may allow it to be more stimulating/presentable. Other than that, I have no idea what you guys are arguing about, I'm still pretty sure it's about a video game nevertheless.
