Time and time again, communities have come and go. They start off with a BANG! Fresh project view, good content, sizable playerbase. But as time goes on, they fall into the same traps off incursion, their playbase dying off to lack of updates, events, dynamics, staff-team transparency, and drama.

As clique as it may sound, here at Diamond Servers, we look to fix that, by building upon the faults of our pre-descending server owners and communities by putting stress on staff-team transparency, dynamic events and changes to the server, a superb development quota, and a focus on quality of roleplay above all else.

We strive to provide high-quality platforms for server play and forum communication, and have high intentions to work upon the suggestions and feedback of our players, while remaining transparent in staffing actions, all the while with a set agenda for the direction of the community.

The concept of a STALKER-themed server, which is set around the cult-classic game series, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, has been proven as something that can stick if done right. We've decided here at Diamond Servers, to embrace the proven interest in this roleplay genre be re-defining the genre by molding a high-quality and optimized roleplay experience in the brutal S.T.A.L.K.E.R universe.

Set in a radioactive wasteland full of viscous bandits, the hippie-anarchists of Freedom, the ravaging conductees of Duty, or the corrupt, iron-fisted arms of the Ukrainian Military, there are so many unique avenues for character development, passive, and all types of roleplay to keep you engaged for hours and hours on end.

Our STALKER server is set to be released within the next week, and we are working hard on development.

I do not claim any sort of rights, ownership, or creation to the artwork in this thread. Ownership is claimed to diamondservers.co , the TS3 server, and our custom content in the Steam pack. All developers are under a payment disclosure contract, and we are currently in the thick of development, so the current stage of the website and server, portions which have not been released, do not symbolize the expected state of our community / server.

It's standard that we have a little bit more information, such as pictures and longer descriptions of how the server operates, factions, features, etc. If you could add those and meet our community standards.

I like the little disclaimer, it's one of the first I've seen lmao.

    Hello Rhenz,

    I had the standards in another tab and was trying to follow them as close to on-point as possible. Finding suitably-fitting pictures off Google since our graphics designer is sick was a bit challenging, and with extensive descriptions on factions, I feel like it's a bit of a bore and could be clarified by simply providing a link to our full factions portion of our website, which can be found below;

I hope I'm not coming off as lack-luster in care, I just simply like to concentrate my ideas into a feasible block of texts that the average user will actually read instead of browsing over, if that makes sense? :D

You're good, man. I was just offering a suggestion or two, if that makes sense. I think a lot of us here(rather myself) don't like clicking on links and what not since I'm on mobile so much but you've done a good job, better than most. :D

    That makes sense.

Nonetheless, thank you for the advice and support.

Looking at your forums, I see a few things I dislike.
I never got the point of rules like this. You're the one risking your items by going off and putting yourself in a situation where can you easily get robbed, you should be the one to deal with it. Why should the rules protect against a player's bad decisions?

The application formats seem like they have little thought put into them. Another thing about them that I dislike is this:
To me, a backstory seems like a waste of time. It will likely be read only once by the person reviewing the application and never thought of again. I also dislike the whole "this is fear RP and this is passive RP" thing, roleplay is roleplay, you know?

I like the fact that you want to keep the community thread short and to the point. Explain what needs explained and be done with it.

Thanks for the feedback, to start Dovahneer. You've brought some /really/ good points to the table.

So put yourself in the scenario of... Ivan.

Ivan has been playing on the server for a month, he's gotten himself a nice suit of armor, modified M4, and is basically set. Ivan departs from town with a friend, and considering they've been in the Zone, they feel fairly safe. I mean, travelling in groups all the time is not always feasible.

They are walking down a dirt road, and then Ivan's friend gets sprayed from a bush, and three bandits converge on you, and you're left with nothing to react by but comply. Led into a building, and without the limiting rule, they could strip you of all your armor, rubels, and guns, basically turning you into a hobo in a gamemode that does have a much larger script-orientation then other gamemodes, after a month of work.

I'm fully capable of taking acculmulative opinions on the rule, but I would not like players who work hard to be turned into a hobo and their hard-earned inventories in the hands of thirsty bandits that could cause instability within the economy if they build up to higher-grade weapons, which is not exactly lore-friendly.

I agree that a backstory is not needed, so I think I'll edit it to but more emphasis on RP examples. Thanks for the suggestion!

The player was taking the risk by going out with such a small group and with all of his money and equipment on him. Having characters and their inventories be fragile encourages people to be more cautious, something a roleplay like this needs.
This also brings up something else, how do you handle character death? Do you use a "NLR" system or have every death be permanent?

    edit:
If this causes instability within the economy, then let it be. The point of roleplay is for the world to be dynamic, if a powerful bandit faction ends up existing then so be it.

Very good points, I'm speaking to my devs and community followers about the subject of mugging, we will most likely allow full-inventory stealing with mugging for the first month of the server, your suggestion is greatly appreciated.

We are also discussing character deaths. We want to focus on development, so most likely S2M / S2K gunfights will be NLR, proper IC reasoning, if they put themselves in deliberate danger and got killed, if the kill was a hit or revenge, insubordination, etc.

On our website, proper credit has been given to you in our development section.

  13. For the curious, there's a complete list of what we're using / credits here. You're given appropriate creditation for the weapons pack.

Related question: is Sector 4 STALKER RP still a thing?

  14. Hardly. But, they have a loyal populace sitting at around 14 people for a max.

  15. Yeah, main reason I was using their weapons pack was because it was to my understanding they were DOA.

  18. All reasonable deaths should be pks. It's the zone, not a playground.

  19. people get mad when they get mugged/murdered for scripts though and when people get mad they lose their server and bring their friends with them

i agree with you it's just not plausible to do so in this day and age if you want to keep the majority of your playerbase happy

  20. perhaps that's why most servers fail then. Because they cater to the shitters instead of making things make some sense.
