Err... Plugins?

Wanna learn to code. (Found the Guide on the old wiki)
I want to make plugins.
How to get a Dev Key?

Basically my big 3 statements/questions of my life for the past year, and I can get myself to do anything up until now. Since I'm motivated, and being new I'm too ignorant to figure out how to do or obtain any of those 3 things, so if someone below could help answer my questions, I'd appreciate it!

You don't need a Dev Key to make plugins, only schemas.

My logic fails me.
Sorry, hm. To make plugins, you need to know lua. If you do, go from there. In the wiki, just find the hooks/etc for the stuff you need

Consider the official programming in Lua book if you're looking to learn Lua. I personally learned only syntax before going on to gLua, though Lua can be used for other purposes, so keep reading if you wanna do that.

I suggest setting yourself a big goal, it'll serve as an important motivator. You'll find it will take some time to learn.

And I have set myself a big goal! Its a Schema called the Freeman, supposed to be post-HL2 where you survive in the outlands and yata yata yata, gonna have to make it original and whatnot but I think it'd be really cool and I hope I can get it out there one day!

I mean, look at the custom schemas now!
