Favorite Half-Life 2 Roleplay map

Mine would honestly have to be City 8, the first Half-Life 2 server I played on back in the day used it and it brings back memories.

 

City 8 was my first real RP map too! Had some good times way back. One of my favorite memories about the first RP server I ever got into was that I accidentally caused a riot.

I remember that I was mad for being detained and while everyone was in the plaza waiting for rations, I decided it would be a good idea to punch a random officer in the back of the head. The officer reacted how he should have and proceeded to beat the shit out of me; This was enough to make the local webul group begin their attack. The whole plaza broke out into a clusterfuck of punching and 9mm shots. In the end, we all died.

Good times..

 

Stuck between City 8, and City 45. Both have served us well. City 8 has some great lighting effects, and I absolutely love the sci-fi design to it. However C45 feels like a more classic environment, and has a good nostalgic feel to it.

This is the thread that will cause the servers to run red with blood.

 

If someone had expanded on the original City 8 map and added more space to it, it would be one of the most popular maps. The problem with it's current state is that it is so claustrophobic, no one wants to touch it. City 8 v2 tried to recreate the area but it just didn't give the same vibes as the first one.

 

Personally, I absolutely love the City 8 District 9 map which is a bit more outlandish. If something like that could be expanded upon with more districts that progressively have more developed areas....it'd be amazing. Otherwise, I think the normal City 8 map takes the cake for the series.

 

I'm currently doing some changes to city 8 in preparations for my upcoming server, giving it a fresh coat of paint as well as adding some extra things here and there along with a little bit of rebranding.

 

Definitely City-45, had a great community back in 2013 that used it. Mainly the specific version modified for Quantum-Gaming.

 

I remember quantum gaming, such a very long time ago that community was.

 

Industrial 17.

It's a good map, just massively overused.

 

industrial 17 has to be one of the worst map's
it's not even optimized one bit and since every server uses it it's not fun considering its not that large asides shell beach and we all know where it's lolrebel hideout's and shit are.
my fav has to be either 8 or 18.

I like Terminal 6 seeing as it can compact the city roleplay experience in a much smaller map, but it's got optimization issues and what not. Also really into what's going on with City 15.

City 45 and City 8 are fine but imo the latter would be better without all the cyberpunk trash over it.

 

i really like city 8 but it really irks me when servers use it just so wrong. it's a nice map to be rebel on tbh but i never really play rebel so

a good map also would be city 45 like others have said, but i feel like if used right, city 18 could be amazing for a server. for passive and all.

i can easily say i17 is just the worse, though. it's a beta map, for one, meaning that servers using full hl2's lore just doesn't have much sense made. it's more of an s2k map imo. made for rebel. sucks cus it looks nice.

 

Industrial 17 is my favorite.

City 45 is okay. Just too linear.

City 18 is fucking terrible imo.

 

I like City 8 but, It's unfit for HL2RP seeing how there's cyberpunk decals and signs plastered throughout the map. If you were to remove that then I'd be completely fine with it.

I can't stand City 45. The design for the map is shallow, it's literally compacted into one big circlejerk and is on par with Industrial 17 when it comes to Rebel hideouts.

My current favorite is District 47, I just prefer the layout and feel to it. The Nexus isn't overdone and the higher you go, the more similarities it brings to the Citadel chapters(Gunships being repaired via Stalkers, etc)

that one open beta city 17 map if it were bigger would be the greatest map ever but its pretty good compared to all the others ive played on

That's the problem; At this point it feels like when you connect to the map, you are sliding on the cum-stained, rock hard sock that you used as your victim the previous night.
