Six years I've been a member of Cloud Sixteen. Six years I've been apart of history in Garry's Mod.
I've ran many communities. I've (partly) ran this very forum and its servers. I've ran many servers and seen pretty much everything there is to see on Cloud Sixteen. I've been in arguments, I've been in controversies, I've seen every manager that ever had the position come and go, and I've been posting throughout it all. Many of you don't like me, and I can understand why; I've developed a pretty negative reputation throughout the years. I've acted like a retard, this is absolutely true. I was very young when I first came here, just barely fifteen years old. I'm now in my twenties. I remember playing OpenAura on my shitty dell laptop which ran Gmod at barely 20FPS, when every server was running rp_city18. This was well back in 2011, when I was thirteen, and I joined C16 a couple of years later once I had some experience under my belt and Clockwork had came out for Gmod 13. I lost my mind with how much Gmod 13 changed the game. I'd lurked around on C16 for about a year before I eventually made my first introduction thread. I was naive to the roleplay community, but I had achieved Legendary by 80 posts and that gave me a big confidence boost that I took for granted. People bullied eachother there, it wasn't a good time.

I developed a tough skin coming onto these forums. The words "autism" and "cancer" get thrown around a lot here, and I was on the brunt end of many a joke. You had to have tough skin talking to people back then, if you weren't very smart it was easy for people to take advantage of you and shun you for their own gain. This happened all over the place. It was a very toxic time.

Yet through all of it, I stayed. I remained active. There were some genuinely great discussions to be had, many a life long friend to be made, and a lot of great roleplay servers that wouldn't have been discovered if not for the fact C16 allowed people to share their own servers on these forums. There were a lot of good times in C16. Despite the fact we had Vonel and Monkah as manager, we stuck through it. We had better times, better managers, better posts, better communities, better forums and sub-forums and we had fun.

I've talked to everyone worth mentioning on these forums, including kurozael himself, and it's not surprising that the forum is "dying". Cloud Sixteen has changed. I rarely see the point of even checking the forums anymore, as it's devolved into a state of stagnation.

I'm writing this in light of the recent post kuro himself made about Playermeta (I'm registered there, I post there, I make no secret about it). While he never referenced Playermeta directly, we all know what it was about, the same way we all know why "a different framework lol" is still a translation for N S, despite the fact kuro has nothing to do with the state of Gmod RP anymore.

I've spent many years here, and I hope to see a drastic return to form some day, but I doubt it's coming any time soon. Many things right with C16 have disappeared, while many things wrong have prevailed.

This post might get deleted before it gets seen. I might even get banned. But I'm not leaving the forum - rest assured, I've always came back to check up on C16 and I don't imagine I'll stop any time soon, but we need something new, we need something to bring the spirit back. We need a change. I can't tell you what that change is, because I don't speak for everyone, but something has to happen. Another community server? More forums? More titles? Another schema?

I hope this forum can re-make itself in the image of what it once was. I'll wait and see.

While I've only sat on an administrative position for a short period of time, I've seen your name around ever since I first joined here many years ago. I'm not really against PlayerMeta since they're trying to keep Clockwork alive while C16 is trying to move forward to new projects, I just don't like the fact that people have to make a loud exit when they leave for it.

C16 really needs to get back on it's feet, while our 2 planned projects are going to take time to finish, it would be nice to have something to do in the meantime as you mentioned. The question is what, I can personally not think of anything, nor have I seen anyone contribute with a suggestion.

Anyways, I hope to see you in the future mate, and no, there's no reason for this thread to be remove at all.

Cloud Sixteen for Garry's Mod is over. After over a decade, it's over. Move on, man. Without development on GMod projects for Cloud Sixteen, of course it is going to stagnate. But Cloud Sixteen will be reborn for S&box, so just enjoy it until then. These forums will of course be archived to preserve the history when the new ones come up eventually.

Stop trying to beat a dead horse though, over a *decade* my communities have been going (with the latest iteration being Cloud Sixteen), they've been successful, they've peaked, they've died, they've been reborn but eventually all good things must come to an end: and Cloud Sixteen for Garry's Mod is one of them.

It's been amazing watching all these communities grow from my babies: my framework, and my schemas, and to see what others have created with the foundations I built has been wonderful -- but I cannot cling to the past anymore, I must look forward, for my own sanity.

That's all I'm gonna say on this, one can lose their mind repeating themselves so often ;)

Also this kinda counts as a leaving-type thread so it'll probably get removed but I'll let people read it for a bit because I like @Sixx

    R.I.P all my alt accounts

I can definitely appreciate the means to move forward, C16 has been around and will continue to be around throughout the RP community, but I don't think we really can enjoy C16 until it comes out, and nobody even knows when that might be. I think your ambitions for the future are completely butting out the people who have supported you and your frameworks - because let's be real, Clockwork would be nothing without all the many people who bought it and made communities from it. You don't owe anybody anything, that much we all can agree on, but when many members of the community you made are clamoring for you to do something and you don't respond in any way other than "if you're leaving then bye", it looks very poor, and everyone has taken note.

If you truly hope that S&Box RP will take off and C16 will once again be the forerunner for its success then you have to continue supporting your current platform to some degree other than waving everyone farewell in an announcement thread. Lightning never strikes twice.

I've supported C16 and your work for years and I've held you to a high standard for a long time. (Not to brown nose you or anything). But S&Box won't be Garry's Mod, and C16 isn't going to be a household name in its current state. We don't know how long it'll be until S&Box comes out, and nor do you, so staking all of your time onto it won't cut it in today, when everyone who has been passionate and put thousands of hours of their lives into something you created is now feeling so disenfranchised that they're looking elsewhere for it.

I can understand that you've lost interest; I haven't put 100 hours into Gmod in the last year I'm willing to bet, but that's largely in part because there hasn't been any reason to; there's no incentive like there was back in 2013-16. C16 is on thin ice, and it won't suddenly skate across it because a new framework will come out.

That's just my two cents. Thank you for being honest in your response, I know this is a huge wall of text and you moved last year (I hope that's all going well, by the way!) and you have things going on, but just take my words on-board as an outsider. (Or, an insider, depending on how you look at it.)

Well I'm a moderator on S&box discord and have Future Tester status because of 10+ year contributions to the GMod community, I know that as soon as possible I'll get the chance to start building RP in S&box before most will.

GMod is dead for me, there's nothing further I can do to, you can't force me to work on Clockwork or play any further part in the GMod community if I don't want to. I'm nobody's slave. I made a product that I developed over a series of iterations for 10+ years, and now I no longer work on it.

I built my communities in GMod from the ground-up, and the reason C16 got to where it is today is because I was at the forefront of roleplay in GMod and I hosted some of the most popular RP servers which were constantly full. They were successful because I was developing unique RP gamemodes *while people were playing* and people love to watch something new in development.

This exact same process will occur on S&box, and whether you like it or not, most people will end up going to S&box because the things that will be possible for all gamemodes (not just roleplay) will be significantly greater than anything that can be made in GMod. And with C# and Unreal, we'll be able to have 100 player servers that actually run well.

I've given everything I have to GMod. I spent my entire teenage years and my early twenties with it. Similarly I gave everything to Cloud Sixteen, to build and to mould it. There is nothing else I can do with Clockwork or GMod, you must understand that, finally. This is the end, and that's it. There is only future projects now. That's as blunt as I can be.

As I've said, these forums for GMod will be archived and kept at old.cloudsixteen.com and you will be able to keep posting your communities there -- but I will never visit it. It can be moderated by people I trust, as it is now, but there won't be any links to it because the homepage of CloudSixteen.com will just become the new forums.

We may have a small Clockwork *section* in the new forums, but all GMod discussion should stay within it and the forums focus will not be about GMod and there won't be any kind of Clockwork support on the new forums either. There will *remain* a Clockwork channel on our Discord, though.

You gotta remember the whole idea is to dissociate C16 with GMod and build an entirely new community from S&box players when the time comes, that's not to say I want to keep my "fans" away -- this community is always welcome over at the new forums etc but there'll be zero focus on GMod or Clockwork there.

I love you all, but I'm gonna delete this thread tomorrow once you've all had a chance to read it. I just want to keep all this drama away now, everybody has said their part, but unfortunately it changes nothing.
