Forum adventure - You are a Cider 2 server owner

Title says it all.

You start off having bought C2 from the C16 shop with all the equipment to run the server. For this, we will pretend nothing technical will fuck up unless we fuck it up. We will also be starting off with a bug free vanilla C2.

Alright? Alright.

You have the server up, and nobody is joining.

 

You make a thread on C16 and get judged for your thread names

I mean, uh, yeah, invite people

 

make a C16 post and then do nothing but idle for the first day and just be inactive any other days.

After you post the thread, about 4 people go on your server for a while before 2 of them disconnect. You then get complaints about the server being vanilla as opposed to custom.

 

Do some lackluster coding to try and fix it up with some better items and weapons.

 

Actually decide to dedicate your entire free time to actually make the server better; set up appropriate props and actually renovate the area, set up nice signs and adverts in appropriate areas, role-play with people who join to get the ball rolling, make sure you have a sufficient and good admin team so that if I'm not there people can actually FIX THINGS, make actual well thought out events that are fun and intuitive and not just LOL ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE.

 

put in plugins, make money.

Put a poorly drawn dick next to the spawn, and change your name to "Sucks cock lol" and set your job as bitch ass ho.

 

Your server now constantly has 2 to 8 people on it at all times, and those people seem to love it.

 

Spawn seven "hidden" salesmen around the map that sells drugs and guns.

 

Rename the server to minge gaming solely for playerbase.

 

I don't think I need to contribute to this any more, everyone else seems adamant to make it like a server that TW would be proud of!

 

decide that cider two is a shit framework, and promptly give out the cider two schema download to gmodscripts, pass out your schema key to everyone on your friends list, and then cry yourself to sleep due to the fact that you wasted money on the schema.

 

realize that c2 is actually really damn fun when done correctly.

 

Watching your playerbase rise very gradually, you begin to wonder why more people went to your Cider 2 server when Cider 2 was basically dead. You find some time in your schedule from work, admin-ing, teaching new players and roleplaying with new players to do some simply, easy, casual roleplay. You realize why players started playing Cider 2 again, because it's being done right and therefore really damn fun.

You have a community feedback session entailing the receiving of all complaints which you then set out to fix. While this is happening, your community finds itself to flesh out a lot more. You figure it's time to set some donations for the expanding playerbase.
