The Putridity Source: Collective Narrative is a private multiplayer roleplay server that serves as a sub-project within our Half-Life 2: Episode Two modification Putridity Source. Although the project receives limited funding and is largely experimental, it has a similar setting to our former Half-Life 2 Roleplay project which was closed several months ago due to being considered unfeasible in the long run. PSCN takes place seven years before the events of Putridity Source in 2030 C.E, characters must learn to adapt in either the outer city ruins of City 23 (currently operational) or the border of the beginning of the Forbidden World (a massive dust bowl that makes most of the world's dry land mass).
Brief Summary of Canon
Roughly three decades after the Seven Hour War occurred and the continuation of total human infertility from the effects of the suppression field, the human race barely manages to hang on. Females are becoming ever-so endangered and the median age has risen well over 30. Institutions established by the Combine Empire to aid mankind's conversion into their multidimensional union have been poorly maintained. As the vast majority of the human race have been converted for off-world purposes, the remaining humans are trying desperately to hold onto whatever things makes them human, some however joining Civil Protection for added security and a higher density of food rations.
In addition to the cities becoming cluttered and disorderly, the Civil Protection now only resort to
summary execution - for any crime committed, regardless of severity. A global leaderless organization universally called the 'Resistance' has become a vast array of disorganized insurgent cells, gathered groups of refugees who believe in one last battle for the human race (which most people consider suicidal). Some citizens still living in the urban sprawls, oppressed by frequent raids on 'suspected insurgent hideouts' by trigger-happy protection teams, see life as a hopeless cause, listening endlessly to the Earth's Administrator's broadcasts which have mysteriously been on a loop for several years. To combat the destruction of urban property (specifically analog televisions) permanent telescreens have been installed in several apartments which are unable to be turned off and unable to be removed.
Other survivors lucky enough to escape the walls of extant urban centers, try their luck in the outlands. Some seek refuge in the ruins of crumbled cities while others form settlements near the border of the Forbidden World, a place suffering in endless drought. Various settlements try to form better lives for the refugees (more commonly called
'settlers' to differentiate them from
'ruin dwellers'), believing that people should try to make the most of what time they have left. Although crime among refugees has declined over the years, unmonitored Civil Protection teams performing long-range patrols are notorious for going outside their protocol.

About the Community
Freedom4Gamers is a small private community founded in December, 2011. The community itself is under an authoritarian fascist administration that demands strict adherence to an outlined Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. Freedom4Gamers requires most of its members to fill out a simplified whitelist application form. Due to the nature and resources of the community, it can only accept preferred users that would most likely prefer its quieter and less cluttered environment.
Since Freedom4Gamers is also a completely non-profit community (not even having a donation option) and built off of volunteers, the community itself offers absolutely zero services that are any way guaranteed or under a responsibility. Long time members of the community understand that mutual compliance is the only manner in which the community has remained stable. Everyone follows the rules and everyone shall remain happy and orderly. After hosting a public Zombie Panic! Source server in the past, GreenPepper has closed and isolated the community to protect against the 'vast groupings of prepubescent parasites' that have seemed to gain 'sufficient sentience to access online services'.
The administration will remind users the fact that they must absolutely unquestionably follow the rules and report every single case of a rule violation to ensure a 'pure' environment. This especially includes reporting the administration if it violates a rule. The community will make no attempt to pretend or come across as something that can actually give you freedom except its name and motto. 'Game in Freedom' can be translated in the community whitewash terms as 'Game in Oppression', Freedom4Gamers can be properly translated to 'Oppression4Gamers'. It is important that users remember that they can be both free and oppressed at the same time and that you cannot have one if you do not have the other. Freedom and oppression are a means of a balance, while one aims to give someone the ability to choose, the other is there to remind them of their limitations and on here, you certainly have a lot of limitations.
Content & Age Restriction Notice
Keep in mind that this project contains descriptions of acts of violence, sexuality and possible cases of profanity. The community also has an age requirement of 17, so you must be 17 years or older to participate. Freedom4Gamers is intended for mature players, although they recommend you do not take gaming too seriously.
Summary of Community
- Private whitelist only servers (hosts one for Garry's Mod and Halo: CE)
- Fascist authoritarian administration that hates democracy
- Roleplay-focused roleplay (unless we're getting it wrong here)
- A fascist pig owner
- Limitations
- More limitations
- Although not a current feature, the community is looking into adding more suitcases to enhance the roleplay experience, characters should be able to develop their characters if they have more enhanced features like:
- More suitcases
- Commands for shrugging and sighing, '/shrug <enter number of shrugs here>', '/sigh <enter number of sighs here>'
- Since users seem to like tacos and bananas, they are possibly looking into adding items for these (maybe to help make the roleplay experience more immersive with better food choices, taco supplements sounds interesting, right?)
- Enhancing enhanced citizens
- Additional moan sounds
- Donation features ($10 for high IQ character, $50 for an unlimited supply of tacos and bananas, $30 for faction whitelists and $100 if you want the fascist pig owner to pretend to be your friend for a few months)
- Due to the demand for innovation among roleplay communities, we will be adding an entirely new black character faction that will cause havoc in the server, ghosting through doors, randomly beating players and having horrendous spelling and grammar, this may also highlight racial issues among the roleplay community
- A plugin that makes roleplay easier for ERP (emergency roleplay)
- Additional rolepay features
- Falling over on damage
- Not very good humour
