HL2RP Gearlock HL2RP - A free roleplay

Greetings reader, this is my first introduction thread to a community, and I was assisted by puppy0156 and Rhenz for the creation of this, credits go truly to them. Previously Gearlock had a HL2RP server, but it ran into the ground quickly after the hype was gone, and staff had other things to do. This is the second iteration until the Fallout server is fully developed. The server has at the moment me as staff, and Frederick Jenkins as staff. This will also be my first time running a server alone without someone experienced. Mistakes will be made, and I apologize in further advance if you join and the experience isn't pleasing, but I'll try my best as well as Jenkins to keep a satisfied playerbase. If you're experienced at running servers, feel free to pitch ideas in the thread.


After a talk with a wealth of experienced owners, I have decided that we'll use an aftermath of Triarii's North Africa roleplay, to a scenario where the city-state City Nineteen dominates all of Africa for water. This is based thirty years later, technology has become advanced beyond what anyone could imagine. Populations are heavily controlled with propaganda, fear, and monitoring equipment. Metropolice have received quite the upgrade, able to police better with Citizens. The North African war has dried up City Nineteen's treasury, and so factory lines are constantly operating, taxes have been imposed on provinces, and City Nineteen cannot properly pay it's ministers and government. Due to this, expenses have shot up in businesses, causing people to riot over the taxes imposed. In an attempt to appease the population, some freedoms were allowed, such as the right to freely travel throughout provinces, start a business without C19 approval, and also be able to achieve work more easily. Disease has also plagued the continent of Africa, causing fear to spread among the population of a outbreak of malaria and West Nile. In a time like this, secret police and monitoring are at an all time high after the food riots, severe damage was done to the C19 parliament - resistance seemed to be on the edge. Be careful what you say, anyone could turn you in. To keep it short, the City-State wars were won by C19 and their ally C45, and now C19 dominates all of Africa, as C45 now dominates all of Europe. A fascist like order has risen up over the years, but an economic downfall has caused the City to have to tax it's own people heavily. Technology has grown highly since the wars, and now you live in a populated, heavily monitored area with some ex-conscription members of C20. Water has also become a huge resource that's now satisfied.


The server release date has been debated to be around the fifteenth of September, as for content you do not have to download any content as we'll be using the base game content! We are currently in need of administration for the server, feel free to speak to the actual owners Rhenz/Lev for information. We want to also keep rules to a minimum - the basic don't be a dick, /me properly, and nothing that would cause harm to the server/populace. We also would like to make it noted that we're all playing to have fun, and to ultimately re-create what roleplay was like in 2007. Have a good time, we won't allow anyone to be down! We have a hunger system and we also have some awesome features to keep you guys entertained. You're also going to want to read the Triarii North Africa lore to understand the story a bit more, but that's optional. We believe in freedom of roleplay, freedom of speech and anyone to come forth to suggest ideas to better improve the server. We want to see progression! We will use C18 for the starting up of our server as it is an iconic map of HL2RP - and also it's a map that everyone has.


As a Citizen, you're most likely a villager or a resident of City Twenty/Nineteen. The law's have gotten stricter in some ways, the C19 Government has deemed it necessary for all Citizens to carry a small booklet which contains your identification, C19 number and your workplace. When you enter the city, you'll most likely be assigned a building - from there, you'll meet your factory manager. Not having your identification could mean serious trouble. You'll either be deported, or shot on the spot. There has also been a chance for Citizens to escape factory life and being able to start a business - from there they can hire other Citizens, getting them out of factory life. Don't do it too much, or else you'll have the secret police asking you questions. We got a few questions regarding CWU - it's not happening. A group similar however has been established, but it's pure factory work, repairing and medical aid. It's also worth mentioning that Citizens will have a chance to get into C19 government and achieve medium-power positions with character development involved. High-class characters have been made offlimits and will be event-only to prevent powergrabbing, also we believe everyone deserves a fair chance in this, and we don't want people to feel lower due to someone with a high class character trying to be cool. Your life is valued to C19 as you are the workers, and Police have shown laxity in some cases to minor offenses, but firing squads and crimes against humanity are still done in public to put fear to the population. You are always monitored - Welcome to C19.


As the times passed on, more equipment was passed down to the police forces of C19 to keep the population in control. Better equipped with technology, weapons and an upgraded DISPATCH make these units more harder to take on. Stealth is required in order to 'resist', if you can manage to get to that. The Force raids a few select buildings constantly in order to prevent drug trafficking, weapons trafficking and sex trafficking. The Force has written specific laws that everyone fears, the punishment for sex trafficking is death to you and your family by firing squad, the same applies to drugs. The Force has also ensured that rationing is kept to increments that fit the current behavior of the populace. Good behavior ensures more food, bad behavior ensures less food. A slice of bread is what you'll most likely get. This fascist state has ensured that secret police are constantly deployed around provinces in order to root out conspiracy creators, terrorists and to 'ensure order' in the state. DISPATCH has been upgraded quite a bit by C45, C8, and C19 altogether, keeping the aging system up to current standards. Many folks say DISPATCH is the one who controls everything to ensure order all around the world. A detachment of secret police has been opened up for people to apply - however this position is taken seriously, and abusing it may lead to a permanent ban. Applications are also done in-game for this faction.



After the war in North Africa, the Overwatch were heavily drained on manpower - causing recruitment to step up. Most of these elite soldiers were lost to the careless throwing of bodies by C20. Due to manpower shortages, smaller units were created for specific needs. Recruitment to the Overwatch is now open to all. Overwatch are the last bastion of defense, and are only called in when something serious happens. These units are often equipped with the best weapons, gear, and the most dangerous missions. These units, however can be sometimes seen in the city when a official is giving a speech in order to provide protection. The sight of these warriors is rare, and you have to be high-value to get these people deployed on you. Applications for this are currently closed, but we'll open up slowly as the server goes on.

Well now at least you're informed. I'll drop by once in a while to check on how Canoness is doing with the server, this looks good and Canoness has some nice stuff planned for the server. Will join when it's released.
