Hello Buddy - Half Life 2 Roleplay

Discussion in 'Communities' started by Sheffield, Oct 21, 2014.

  1. No, I didn't. I said I completely enjoy totally human CP's. I also said that if they have slight augmentations that's fine. Augments to improve vision, sight, and reflexes isn't too less human at all. Physically, at a VERY slight proportion, they're less human.

  2. While those augmentations don't seem to be an issue, I'd think it's more than enough the fact of CPs having better food, housing, resources and training compared to your usual citizen fighter.

  3. NFPD

    NFPD Plums!

CPs don't have augments (or ranks to even begin with)

and OTA have augments but nothing that makes them ultra super OP

Their main purpose is to sweep the Outlands, and the Outlands mainly contains aliens.

Only augments I can see them having is an augment that supports the possible problem they would have with their armor (it's like football-wear but made for warfare), an augment that either decreases or gets rid the need to sleep, eat, drink, piss, crap, blink, etc.

They can easily endure walking for miles and miles and miles, still 100% combat ready.

Just look at the stripped soldier model, it's pretty obvious, their brain matter looks to be decreased, they have a surgically implanted vocoder, their eyes are just purely white (which adds to not being human).

Also their mind consists of being a robot (unless if they're Nova P) and being a super soldier (in terms of tactics, they're very aware of their surroundings).

Also ranks for OTA... Only like three or two, OWS, SqL, and EOW

    Err, not at all.

    Especially for OTA being robots.

  5. Marc Laidlaw did say metrocops are completely human, but whether there's a ranking or not is a bit ambiguous and open to interpretation. In my perspective, they don't really all have a very complicated structure; it's just units and their respective team leaders.

I think that Transhuman Arm soldiers are implanted with devices meant to have more control over them, while they perhaps have the build of a physically fit human. It's not like their strength is all that important, considering they're formidable because of their tactics and resourcefulness.

I disagree with the armor part, it's probably like a plate carrier in terms of weight. But then again, it's open to interpretation.

Probably, but they do use APCs and dropships in normal situations.

The marks on its head is probably surgery to remove a feature of its mind, not really sure what's the thing on their throat about if they could still use vocoders in their helmets, but I do think the gray-black area in their abdomen is a replacement of the digestive system in order to make sure soldiers die in case they are captured or something similar by somehow making regular food incompatible with this replaced system.

I doubt it'd be best to compare them to robots, considering that they do act way more differently than Overwatch soldiers. They're still able to feel fear when their self preservation is at risk, examples would be the soldiers attempting to flee the Citadel or reacting when a grenade is tossed in a small room with them.

I only see them having four ranks, or perhaps three. I don't really refer to their elite or soldier condition as a rank, but more like a class. I think classes would be soldier and elite, while ranks would be unit and leader in each class; shotgun soldiers are either another class of elite, the leaders for each team or a special type of soldier.

While I love this discussion on head-canon I'd like to at least steer us back in the direction of Hello Buddy. Thanks.

That being said, my code monkey tells me the character creation problem is fixed, but we still are having some issues but those should be fixed tonight. We'll be playing a lot this weekend.

  7. Have the discussion here.

    Also, swag.

Quick question, that I don't know if answered already - Probably is, but. How long can a unit keep their personality before becoming total robocop?

03s begin losing their personality slightly, mostly in the way of becoming more cynical/brutal.
01s will still have some personality.
At OfC the personality becomes faint.

That uh... our headcanon is different from each others? I don't even know whether you're arguing for or against the lack of personality.
We know that Barney was able to infiltrate the CCA to a point where he maintained his personality and had the prerogative to take someone else's interrogation, but then again it would make sense for them to start brainwashing upper ranks.

The reason a lot of people are against brainwashing is because it turns roleplayable characters into shotcops who go around shooting everything they see with little to no emotion or roleplay depth.

Oh and we understand that, I'll change the language a little to reflect our stance better.

    EDIT:
So I've changed our lore to state that by 03, personality will often reflect that of a hardened veteran. 01s will often be more cynical and brutal.
This way, they're more suggestions of how roleplay should go for a CCA, not enforced brainwashings.

Alright so I know double post but I figured it'd be okay since it's an update.

We've fixed EVERYTHING and its all working and we are ready for players.
We'll be having a player drive at 7PM EST (GMT-4) tonight.
We're also changing forum software to Xenforo, we'll have that setup on Sunday (web dev is on holiday).

Hope you all can make it, shoot me a friend request or join our Steam Group for more updates, I won't spam y'all here.

Not to go too off topic, but Duck and I like to assume that people are using pirated XenForo, no idea why.

    Still looking good, though
