HL2RP HL2RP?

just open it up and title it c16's unofficial server

 

why do i have the feeling if this ever happens it will devolve into a massive shitfest where everyone ends up yelling at each other for hours on end because they want it to be "perfect," but everyone has different opinions on what "perfect" is so an agreement is never made

The idea may sound good on paper, you'd be killing off sales. No one would want to make their own server when there's an official server available.

Well, from personal experience. about 60% of the HL2RP population consists of power-hungry ERP'ers who would rather create their own server than have to abide by a strict set of rules.
Just because there are official servers, it doesn't mean C16 will insta-kill the competition. Take Valve's TF2 servers as an example. They are full almost all the time, and so are other servers that were made by the community.
What would happen if C16 had an official server is much worse. Trolls would run around all day, minges, arguments, staff wouldn't be able to handle the pressure, clusterfucks, etc.
Tl;dr: Not gonna work. HL2RP is already "old", and I don't think it would be worth the effort. We already have a P4 server up, and it isn't even populated most of the time. A HL2RP server would only consume effort and take up space for what, one player every month?

 

Who cares. At the end of the day, people make shitty servers, they die out, kuro gets the nickels. It's a vicious cycle.

 

I'm just saying that P4 didn't quite work out already. Hosting another server, even if unnoficial, is a bad idea.
Unless you want to spend a few hours working on a server and then have it die just for shits and giggles, I'm okay with that.

Isn't that because TF2 Has a huge ass community with a hell lotta' players, while Clockwork's community doesn't have the exact or even near the amount for TF2 community.
Infact I don't see servers have players at all now, I only see lemonpunch and a few with like 6 players or dev servers.

i remember when the cider 2 failed and sixx tried to start a c16 hl2rp or some crazy shit like that and it was shot down by either kuro or whoever was manager at the time

 

As long as it is decent quality, I think it could be fun because it would put all the C16 community in one area! But, I would also like to see decisions made in a democratic like structure for important gameplay decisions within the community; A style where voting is allowed to help determine an outcome, rather than one sole person making the judgement call.

 

HL2RP is one of the most sold schemas on the store, around 1200 registered HL2RP owners, to put that into perspective there are 189 registered Cider Two owners. So if C16 ran one it would probably hurt alot of third party servers. (obv this doesn't include illegal server or doesn't include renames)

 

Don't think everyone would leave the server they've stuck with just because "Oh look, C16 server!"
