How far do I have to go for a custom schema?

Discussion in 'Discussion' started by Niker107, Jan 9, 2014.

  1. I'm thinking of making a 'sorta' custom schema, as long as it has a point to exist, but is it really THAT nevessary to create it from scratch? Is it too disallowed to just highly modify an already existing schema like HL2RP? And if I'll ever want to use a dev key, will it be denied for the schema not being made from scratch and how will I go about getting it anyway?

    Precisely this.

If you have the skill to 'heavily modify' a schema, you should be able to make one of your own.

  5. As far as I know, the Skeleton schema is just a set of empty folders. If I'm able to change some things in a schema to what I want it to be, (say, change factions, change items, change a bit of stuff in the core files, change commands and change items) it doesn't mean I can write it completely from scratch. I don't see the point in writing it completely from scratch rather than highly modifying an already existing schema if I'd most likely want a lot of the stuff which is already there to stay. I'd basically be spending my time re-writing all of the code from another schema by hand.

+ even the legacy schemas aren't that different. The only things really different between the legacy schemas themselves are what I already mentioned: factions, items, possible slight changes (and no, not a lot of them) to the core files, commands and items).

  6. Its not just a 'bunch of blank folders'

  7. Alright then, perhaps I misunderstood. Can somebody link me the skeleton schema so I can take a look then?

Edit: Nevermind I found the skeleton schema. Don't lock this, though, I might still have questions.
