I would support this idea all the way. Please interpret this.

Installing them is simple (for many), but finding them is more difficult as they're generally scattered over threads, repositories and what not. A "universal download" system as it was called would merge all of the separation for the (free) plugins and make it more simple.

  3. Sure, sounds good.

I second Arbiter. Seriously. It's already easy enough to a point where anyone could do it. All a download system would do is become a nuisance.

True, but when it boils down to it, the concept has less of a purpose when you take into consideration that the plugins won't be immediately available on your server until you restart it. Which would be just about as much of a hassle as installing them manually, which is just dropping a folder into a folder to begin with.

All it does is add convenience. If change makes things better, why not have it?

I suppose, but it would be a shame to see Clockwork slowly become as unoptimized and bogged down as OpenAura. One of the best improvements in the framework was the better optimization and general bare-bones layout.

It can be optimized and still have cool features. This isn't exactly something that could slow it down.
