  3. If you're talking about how you could scroll and see all that useless bullshit including your weapon clip - yes, that has been completely removed (the weapon selection is still there though!) since that completely defeated the purpose of inspecting your clip.

    You can either press C to see your current ammo with the weapon is out, or the good old fashioned way of going into your backpack and looking at remaining clip.

    Also, I did NOT make the SWEP inspecting/bashing themselves, I simply added them as a default bind into clockwork (X for bash, C for inspect) and fixed up some bugs relating to them.

  5. That's rp_v_torrington, very good map.

    As for planned release..basically 'when I'm done' is the most accurate answer, but we just did some very early testing and all the systems I had made (weapon durability, flashlight attachments, repairing, some performance fixes regarding the zombies) all worked pretty much flawlessly, although there are a few problems with shotguns currently. If this trend continues I could easily see it being done in less than a week.

    The only 'big' concern I have currently is what human models we'll be using, my current plan is to cut out the normal looking TnB models and combine them with some other models to try and create a good variety of non over the top survivor models. If any of you have some suggestions I'll definitely check them out.

  8. Except this is branded as 'Severance'. This is hardly even an attempt to revive severance in any shape or form, you haven't even gotten the color scheme right, you haven't shown anything from your schema that's excluse aside from a bunch of workshop items (CW.0925 isn't exclusive. HL2RP's Information Color Scheme is also visible).

    The original Severence didn't include anything from nmrih, if anything, it was real_cs when it came down to weapons available. Therefore, this is just you or whoever owns the server pandering to nostalgia in order to get players (don't use the excuse 'oh-oh this is reviving it though!') but in reality anyone smart enough can see this isn't remotely close to severance.

    Didn't mean to be blunt but.. don't falsely advertise something.

    This is a disaster.
    Sorta disappointing that the roleplay community and it's sub communities hosting the schemas have come all the way down to throwing heavily desired schema's names around to call attention. Not to flame or anything, but there's a lot of bullshit in this thread, and I'm not even going to nitpick here.
    I highly suggest you take a look at the thread guidelines, as hard as you worked on your "Severance" trailer I'm not remotely interested in it as you just presented some /horror/ maps. I don't know anything else about the server besides the attempts to not make this look like a HL2RP edit, which I'll get into later. Some more information would be nice.

    This isn't Severance.
    It shouldn't advertised as it being Severance either, which now is going to hint to the fact that "Built from the ground up by Starlox(not an HL2RP edit)." doesn't seem to be even remotely true, and you don't have anything remotely "special" here at all. Weapons are like 5% of Severance and are anything but a reason to prove you're going to provide a nice experience. Severance isn't a ballistics or military simulator, it's about surviving the zombie apocalypse. So far you haven't shown any of that. If you're going to defend it's somehow in some universe "custom" then just look at the gradients and colours the schema is using.

    Also, don't post WIP threads if they have little to no information at all, just makes everyone think your community is even less productive and professional than it needs to be.

    I didn't think 'less than a week' was considered far from done? You either didn't read the posts or you have a bad concept of time.

    As for your comments regarding a bad branding, there wasn't a lot of 'exclusive' content shown because as I just said it only just tested no more than 2 hours ago (which I will show later in this post). For the HL2RP color scheme not being changed, there was a bit of miscommunication between me and Fowler (person who made the post) as I did NOT create this from scratch as I don't have a key to make my own custom schema, but it should be noted that all I'm focusing on right now is the core functionality of the server instead of visuals. All the HL2RP logos, themes, and color schemes are going to be completely replaced either today or tomorrow (however sadly it will still show up in the server list as HL2RP since I have no custom schema key. But the schema itself WILL be completely different from vanilla HL2RP).

    Also, I played the original Severance myself..and it itself was basically just a re-branded HL2RP set in a different universe with zombies in it. And why would we use real_cs? They're heavily outdated and not very interesting gameplay wise. The NMRiH weapons were selected because of the bash mechanic we were able to use, the clip inspection, better net coding, far more optimized, and way more visually appealing than the old backsword (believe that's what the cs weapon base was called?) CS weapons. As for NPCs, we once again chose the NMRiH ones because their animations and sounds are way better than any of the other nextbot or zombie SNPCs that Severance ever used. If we were just pandering to nostalgia, we could easily load up real_cs and some bad nextbot zombies and call it Severance, it'd make my job 10x easier.

    Hopefully my post didn't come of as angry, as I was not attempting to flame you, just retort to some of the accusations you made. Here's some of the 'core functionality' I previously mentioned I was working on:

    There's no better client optimization than basic CSS textures and close to 0 effects, but okay.

    But isn't that what you are doing? You're just throwing in Nmrih shit and calling it custom and naming it SEVERANCE.

    By a lot of bullshit, you mean one single mistake (that I cleared up in my last post). I as a coder never told Fowler that this 'built from the ground up', he just assumed that because I told him there would be MASSIVE edits to the scheme. That's the only piece of information wrong in the OP, but yet there is a 'whole lot of bullshit in this thread'? While I agree that the post did have to little information to begin with, this was not our original intentions. The dev server we were going to use to test the plugins together to make sure they were working flawlessly was having problems last night, so we had to delay it to the next day. If you read the bottom of the OP, it clearly says 'Progress videos posted shortly, with more details', which clearly means that we had fully intended to provide more details and videos of progress as they came (look at previous post for 2 of them). Some more information would be nice, and it is going to come.

    The only reason this schema ISN'T being built from the ground up is because I do not have a custom schema key. The whole 'not a HL2RP edit' thing has already been cleared up twice by now, but once again, that was a mistake on our part due to some miscommunication so I apologize for that. While your argument of 'nothing special' holds up due to the lack of information in the original post, my response to Zink shows two little progress videos of plugins I made and just recently tested. I will also ask Fowler to spruce up the original post and add some more information, as what he did was bare-bones.

    As for the whole 'experience' aspect, the whole point of these threads is to let people know that our server exists so they can come and join, the only way to see if the 'experience' is any good whatsoever.

    Network optimization and visual optimization are two different things.

    Wasn't Severance just HL2RP with zombies and real_cs guns thrown at it?
    We're adding custom plugins, working on optimization with VJ's NMRiH SNPCS (to allow the maximum number of zombies with limited damage to FPS), and (as mentioned in my last post) changing all of HL2RP's logos, color schemes, themes, etc.

    The reasoning behind my video making merely being 'maps' is pretty simple.

    Firstly, it's based off of The Walking Dead's intro, so as to emulate the feel of 'decay' or a post-social collapse. It's not meant to be a matter of watching people RP, which would be boringly hilarious. All you'd see would be:

    Second, in relation with the first, is again, to set the mood. Roleplay isn't, as everyone so adamantly claims, about items or how 'cool it is to have a different color hat', albeit good features to have, it is a matter of feeling immersed in the environment. That's our primary propagation, not 'look what colors we can have on our schema introduction/tab menu.'

    We will, however, as Doxxy/starlox has said, be implementing features that will bring it far, far away from HL2RP, and into a decaying society.

    As titular developers from a site that has been making it for years, what is Severance to you, @cash wednesday ? We read suggestions, and as there is a seemingly vague idea as to what it is, please, feel free to elaborate. We would be more than happy to work for feedback en-masse.

    ng off source maps doesn't give the vibe of "decay". I don't want to see people RPing either, I'm saying your trailers are remotely useless. Sorry I had to put that in big fat letters because it flew over your head.

    You're also contradicting yourself with your whole "ehyuuhue i have different color hat speech" which is clearly what you're trying to mimick with your fancy weapons and shit. You make the roleplay schema for the roleplay, not for your gunky weapons system "eaheuh i get to check how many bullet i have in my mag!"

    Also if you like "decaying" stuff so much just make the schema name Decay not a well known schema name you can give a bad rep to normal players because your effectivness of pulling it off is ass.

    For the sake of the thread itself, I ask for potential recourse as to how we can improve, then. Preferably in a clear manner, in which isn't passively aggressive, nor deconstructive in the sense that 'no matter what you do you're wrong', sort of escapade.

    Roleplay, oncemore, is the primary focus, with a concurrent playerbase attraction. What do you want the videos to show, that would attract a broader audience? What of the other content, put forth? Constructive criticism is welcomed, but I do not wish to see the thread derailed and/or destroyed because of everything being called 'bullshit' per se out of personal whim.

    Edit: I'd also like to put out there that one of the only reasons we've mentioned 'severance' is to have a reference point / visual recollection for viewers to understand what setting the Roleplay might be in. Decay, sounds nice, but it could be in reference to Half-Life: Decay, State of Decay, or some other obscurities.

    If it were available, which myself and penguin pre-ordered, we'd gladly utilize the Severance official schematic from clockwork in our servers, if it were available.
