HL2RP Is there even any unique HL2RP servers now and any ideas to make a unique server?

not trying to do a shamless plug but i help manage a server with a friend with a bit of a unique twist on it. it's sort of like corbulo's/outro's/@matlock/whoevers Security Detail but in HL2. i put a small synopsis @ https://somber.ninja/invictus

it's his and my first time running a quality server of this caliber with a bunch of micromanagement and little details to manage, so it's certainly not perfect, but it's not your average run-of-the-mill cityRP server.

 

sorry if it seems that way but it does fit the criteria you were asking for so i thought why not.

we do map switches /a lot/ depending on the events. for example, we may be on tnbcoast for a few hours before we get a high pop (10-15) and then we group them all together at a sort of outpost, then maybe have the Invictus members and refugees exfil on a heli or something or do some sort of high-intensity defense mission. after that we'd leave the AO and go to a new map, probably the Invictus base (gm_underground_iv)

 

we don't stick strictly to HL2RP lore we modify it as much as we have to to make the server work more smoothly. and if you read the synopsis i linked you'll know most of these answers.

 

again, we modify the lore to fit our server's setting. anything that's like 'well you can't do x because combine would do y' is already resolved or will be resolved on the fly. and we've been doing alright so far without any problems, we've gotten a lot of minges but we don't do temporary bans. if you come on to not RP we'll simply perma you. if we know you're a good roleplayer (been playing on the server for a while) we'd just give you a warning or temporary ban if it was accidental or you were having a bad day or something. but we don't have a lot of tolerance for people that just come on to stir shit or do dumbass RP so we just perma. so anytime some guy has come on and fucked around we've just gotten rid of him. simple.

so the reason the rebel forces move refugees to safe house is because Invictus or other resistance groups are in an AO/map IC'ly because of an operation or some sort of mission they were assigned, most of the time to move said refugees through the sewers or industrial areas to Lambda safehouses. if they operation is not to explicitly move refugees to a safe area, it'll happen naturally if you find us (most of the time we come to you). the fortress in the mountains is for Invictus, and is where we do most of our passiveRP. the outsiders at the fortress are the candidates that were chosen to fight for a position in Invictus (all players are candidates if we switch to gm_underground_iv). if we don't plan on switching to the fortress map, we'll simply set up shop in a small building or bunker on a coast map or wherever we are and move refugees around.

 

we add them when they become necessary. i can't give you a list because i don't have access to the FTP currently.

 

it's really not a custom schema at all, it's just set up to seem that way. so far we haven't used any whitelist besides Citizen which is renamed to Refugee, and then we just add a class to Invictus members. me and my friend are going to give ourselves OTA soon and try out putting ourselves on the hostile squad so we can make the firefights more realistic.

 

i made a couple small ones just to make the server work more smoothly but it's mostly premade ones.
