Too bad Disney will shut this down before it can come close to being anything other than a glorified tour of pretty looking maps. :/

It looks good though, the guys did a great job on it so far, but this seems more like the kinda thing that will end up being a sorta tech demo for demonstration of skill on the developer's part. Something to put in your portfolio, not something to finish and make playable.

Either way, it does look cool so far, Upper Taris was incredible.

They'd have to put money into it to get it polished up and suitable for an actual mainstream release, not worth it to Disney especially when they closed down the game division of the company.

 

Well I'm saying they'd probably shut it down and look into doing it themselves. LucasArts will probably become the 343 of Star Wars (not that they weren't already - but with more 3rd party work)

All they do is license out the Star Wars IP to other developers now, like Star Wars Battlefront, so Disney doesn't have to bother taking any risks.

But I highly doubt that they'd let indie devs make a licensed KOTOR remake. As awesome as it'd be, I highly doubt this project will get any further than something like this, but I'd be happy to eat my words.

I guess I had a brain fart. My point still stands, some (Microsoft, for example) have seen recent success remaking old games with modern graphics (Halo, AoE and other microsoft strategy titles)
But yes, I doubt they'll let this indie one get very far.

Well they've got Valve behind them now, so their odds are significantly increased to avoid anything like that. (For the Battlefront remake that is, not this KOTOR one).

 

Disney is ALOT bigger than Valve
and i doubt valve would be willing to fight for them if they get dmca'd

 

What I'm saying is that Valve could negotiate a license from Disney, it'd be impossible for a nobody company to do so, but with Valve, a reputable company, their odds are /increased/.
