Linux Progress?

Discussion in 'Discussion' started by mccabec123, Oct 20, 2013.

  1. Hey guys, this seems to be a common question around here, but I was wondering whether or not clockwork was being developed for Linux at all and if it is, what state is it at? I don't really know why it was released solely on Windows to boot considering the majority of gmod servers are run on Linux as far as I'm aware, every GMod server I've built has been on Linux, and the performance is far better as well. Linux FTW!

    If it's not made any progress, I'd be happy to get my dev team working on a Linux build for the community free of charge, was just wondering whether or not this would be frowned upon by Cloud Sixteen or encouraged, as from what I've seen around the forums, there's very little progression on the matter.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

    kurozael says he's working on Linux for Clockwork but that was a very long time ago. If you get Linux compatibility for Cloud Sixteen, everyone would love you. The only thing holding you back would be kurozael's authorization.

  3. What's the majority of it written in? I know it uses DLL's which are windows libraries, I don't really understand why these have been used, but hey ho, who am I to reason why, it's a great game type. I'd be interested in reading into it.

    Is there anywhere I can obtain a copy of the source code?

  4. The DLL is CloudAuthx. It's used to make sure that the schema is legitimate, so the source will most likely never be released.

    It's written in C++.

  5. Oh really? How can I obtain the source? I'm looking at the Git and it's only Lua as far as I can see and a few DLL's. Any hints are appreciated.

  6. I just told you, you can't.

    If you really wanted to, you'd have to email kurozael, but that's like trying to get a corporation to reveal their secret ingredients. You're asking him to hand over the code that makes sure people don't steal stuff, which would be completely redundant. Why give people the source code to something you made to protect you?

    It's just probably never going to happen. Only thing to do is wait for it to be officially ported.
