Looking for Sci-Fi RP server with custom lore.

Is Osiris really still up and running? I thought they canned it.

 

We did.
But HL2RP kind of ate it....
It's back now with a lot planned.

I've been an administrator of Black Mesa server back on Voltage Gaming. Sadly from what I've seen, there was A LOT of drama in VG community, so I'm not coming back there.

Oblivion lore? Well, that sounds interesting, and it's certainly original concept. I would like to be there.

There's always the Space Rangers RP, but that's private invite only.

Sorry man, just not much server that has their own custom sci-fi settings.

 

By custom I mean non-common. So not HL2, Fallout etc. I want something unique, like that one guy wanted to make server based on Oblivion lore. Too bad it didn't work out.

Ever watch Cowboy Bebop? You essentially RP as "cowboys" in space whilst wrangling up wanted criminals that has a bounty on their head.

 

I don't think he meant disrespect. I was the owner of said server and due to lack of interest and content available, I put it back on the shelf for the time being.

 

Oh wow, Cowboy Bebop? I remember watching it years ago. But I don't remember much of it, so the lore is pretty much a mystery to me. It sounds interesting though, like bounty hunters or something. I can't really imagine reflecting anime's world in gmod though.

Care to share some link to website/forum or some lore? Or is it not available for public?

 

I vouch for them, a really nice community that takes a lot of time to work with users and hear what they want from the server.

 

I play there, wonderful community, although they talk about Adamant Gaming way too much

 

There's that Spartan Operations RP named Axios, it's pretty fun, daily events, people passive RP, stupid OOC things are taken IC to prevent minging, the only downside is that the owner doesn't give a fuck about his server, he just pays for it.

Yeah he stated several times he doesn't give a fuck about his server, and I respect that, he manages it well for not giving a fuck.

You should try it out, it has a decent player base. Be sure to say hello to dog and Zorazi, pretty chill guys, but Zorazi erps alot-e

 

Hey folks. I've been away from GMod for a while (almost 2 years it seems). Are there any new, original, ambitious sci-fi projects either completed and working or WIP and looking for people to help?

 

Apologies. I thought it would be best to just refresh this topic since it wasn't moved to trash or anything, rather than making a new one with the same title.

Yeah, I've browsed through Communities, but there isn't much activity there. I thought that maybe there are some servers that simply weren't advertised here. Making my own server would be rather difficult since I do not have the technical expertise required to begin a project of my own, and of course finding a crew to help would be probably difficult too, since as you said what I'm looking for is niche. True, I may have some image in my head of how would I see it. More or less. But still, I do not have any experience setting up HL2RP server of my own and I do not know anyone who would want to take part in something like this, so I have to wait for something interesting to emerge.

 

Sorry brother I had a nice sci-fi rp a few months back but I closed it after everyone started having fights about how the custom lore should be.
if it's worth any advice to other owners, try to use an existing lore. making your own will have too many holes and allows everything to be debatable/questionable.

 

Well, the 'everyone' you speak of should have known that administrator is always right. You ought to have explained that to them and maybe, just maybe, that fight would not have taken place and people would not question your creation. I am not a fan of the regular, mainstream shit that you can see around. I prefer fresh, original, ambitious ideas. I would gladly help someone who would have such original plans. Custom lore really does not need to overly complicated to be interesting. It may be as simple as being stranded on the ship - an arc to populate some distant planet, ship where some weird, unexpected shit started to happen. Or it would be become harder to survive with limited supplies and a long way to the destination. Ideas may be drawn from many sources, not necessarily be completely based on them. I would probably draw some ideas from the first season of the tv show 'The 100' for instance. Just an idea that popped into my head right now. Come on, it's not that hard!
