Lore Competition

    Want to get your lore onto the server? Have any good ideas on the setting, timeframe, and events that lead up to where the server will take place? I think it would be cool to leave the vote down to you guys. Instead of having me write everything and it all be my ideas only, let's get a mix of opinions in on this!

    If you have a detailed lore in your mind or on a dusty old google drive document somewhere and think it would be cool for the Official HL2RP to use it, post about it in this category (not on this thread). We are looking for something close to vanilla but of course we're not turning down new ideas and concepts. For your thread to be eligible, add a poll which must be;
    • Single choice
    • Allow voters to change their votes
    • Display votes publicly
    • Do not allow results to be viewed without voting
    • Close vote after 7 days
    If this flops and gets no submissions then I will likely just write something up, but I thought this would be a fascinating opportunity to see what some of the scene's most creative minds have to offer!

    If you end up doing it yourself, do not actually do it yourself. Create a similar thread and divide up the lore into subsections where we can just put general ideas in a small paragraph for each subsection.

    Like

    "Lore of the city:"

    "Lore of the Alliance presence in the city:"

    and everyone just writes out their ideas and you compile the best one in a more complete lore write up

    I think the 'Vanilla' criteria makes it hard. The issue with HL2 is that it doesn't hold much actual information, so any kind of elaboration or specificity immediately counteracts the 'vanilla' criteria.

    In this context it's akin to trying to develop a new flavor of ice cream, but it has to taste like vanilla.
