Hey guys! My name is HazmatRanger, and i've been RP'ing for a few years now, and I've finally created a community server. We're pretty new, so we still need some experienced staff members, coders, file managers, etc. Our server isn't very organized at the moment, but I hope you can look past that. Anyways, here's the server information!

Our server starts out just as all of them do, the Combine had invaded Earth, Seven Hour War; all that jazz.
After a while, the spearhead force of the Combine had left earth, leaving behind the bricks to build what they had felt the need to on Earth. They started building Cities everywhere. Resistance groups pop up, from what seems like thin air. But then just as soon as they pop up, they get mowed down almost immediately. Soon the Combine began their experiments. Stalkerization was the main thing that they have tried to improve upon. Offensive measures, such as experimental augments for OTA, weapons; even nuclear bombs.

Welcome, to City 17, Industrial!
Where you come in, citizen; is City 17 : Industrial District. You arrive on the train for reasons only known to you, and your benefactors.
As you walk into the city, you see worn down buildings, people starving in the streets, and severe beatings being given out in broad daylight. If you venture beyond the Plaza, which is seriously discouraged; you'd see killings, muggings, and people selling food and drugs in dark alleys, covered from the "All Seeing Eyes" of the Combine. The choices you make in this city are yours, you make your own history. Whether that is a Citizen who joined up with the CCA, or a drugged out serial killer. This is your story.​

This looks like a good format, but I would like to see a dedicated forum soon. Forums are the biggest building blocks of a community. You get news, have faction boards, and other key things. Other then that, good luck lad!

 

From what I see just based on this thread, I see a very lazy community introduction. There is literally close to nothing about the community at all besides the server IP. The whole thread is empty. It also seems there is literally nothing special about the server, having you say it right in the thread. "Our server starts out just as all of them do, the Combine had invaded Earth, Seven Hour War; all that jazz."Is there any sort of thoughtful factions in the server you can roleplay as? Is there any features? All of these questions can not be answered, therefore I see no point in attempting to have a spark of interest in the community at all. What would be a reason to join the server? If I can go to so many others just like it, considering it is what you described in the thread, then what is the point? I do not intend to bash in any way, just a simple overlook of what I see as of now from your thread.

Some suggestions to make this thread better in my opinion:

• Read some of the quality guide.
• Grab some pictures.
• Show us some actual details of the server.
• Show more rather than map lore, and basic HL2 lore.
• Grab some headers too, just to sweeten things up a bit.

There is nothing that makes us special. We are an extremely average server. No extremely fancy addons, or plugins, or even any special IC things other than daily events to bring us apart from any other server. I'm new to being an owner, and running a server. And I, personally, am okay with that. Hope you guys are, too.

Connected to this one two days ago, found a generic rouge edge rebel with only an edge nickname on the scoreboard. There was only one person in the plaza out of six players, excluding myself.

To be honest, this server seems to fall into the same pitfalls I've seen servers fall into in the past, looking at it from a glance.

 

Dovahneer, maybe if you hadn't used the gm_save command, or connected using a mingename such as "Muhammed Al Ba"whatever, you would have been on the server longer than 20 minutes. No flaming intended. Also, said members have been demoted and their "rebel" characters have been taken from them.

 

Ill stop by for a few to check the server out.

 

I like that you're being honest, really cool of you. I'll be sure to check it out.

 

I didn't use the gm_save command when I was connected to your server. You seem to be mistaken in that regard.
Anyway, I appreciate you listening to advice and not simply spouting "ur a minge u cant critics my server" as people tend to do.
