I'm perfectly aware this is a picture from Destiny, but it quite accurately portrays a Mantus base.[IMG]

    Mantus Occupation Roleplay

Hello, I'm cannibal and I'm the owner of Alpine. My community has just gotten up and running and we now have a server that portrays a futuristic warmongering society where an alien species has taken over Earth for the time being and is draining it of it's resources. We plan on having dynamic and flexible lore, aswell as flexible backstories. You won't be restricted like HL2RP, and this RP is a SSTRP-esque system with motivation from HL2RP and normal City RP.

    Lore

The year is 2031. You see something floating slowly through space… nearing a blue dot. Slowly… slowly… it comes into view. The Tet halts on its galaxy-wide journey. It shuts down for the time being. Pods open on all sides of it releasing, what looks like tiny beads. They flow down to Earth in what looks like waves.

Soldiers reside in a base, having a friendly conversation. The sky darkens above them. Robotic screeches echo through the atmosphere, and surface to air missiles shoot up from the base towards them. Several of the alien drones are slammed by the rockets, and they plummet to the ground in plasma flame. The speakers sound off in the base, “All soldiers prep for contact with unknown force.”

The view is now said base from a high elevation. A drone whizzes by your view. It halts in air, and two panels with rods sticking off eject from the sides like arms. It makes a loud noise and fires two pods towards the ground. It spins the arms, seemingly reloading. It fires another set, and you follow the pods on their journey to the ground.

The pods slam into the ground, a pinkish lifeform seeps out of the sides. It slides across the ground and black beads roll out of the slime and on top of it. They zoom around, like tiny little eyes. The slime observes a soldier who is extremely confused. It morphs into the soldier’s shape, assuming a humanoid form. It’s sloppy, but it looks human. It plunges its fist into its chest, pulling out what looks like the arm of the drone but smaller. The pink humanoid slime attaches the object to its arm and red lights turn on all over the device. It charges up, and you hear a slight grumble from the slime. One single red bolt is tossed out of the front of the device, slamming into the soldier. He explodes. The base is then annihilated in a mere 20 minutes. Twenty Thousand soldiers in the Omsk region of southwestern Siberia are annihilated.

The UN and other national groups formed together to make the UEAO, United Earth Alliance Organization. It was shaky at first, but the newly introduced Alien menace was not going to let up their attacks. The UEAO was massacred at the first battle of Kiev. The Alien Menace had set up a ground base there, and had constructed a space elevator in a mere 2 months. The UEAO advanced with a platoon of newly made and highly advanced HTABAs (Hovering Tank Armored Battalion Carrier). While the HTABC resisted most of the plasma barrage from the drones, what they didn’t expect was an armored grunt force that could withstand the anti-matter rounds that could annihilate a tank from 2015. The grunts ripped apart the ground force and the HTABCs retreated, leaving 300 foot soldiers dead and 2 HTABCs out of commission and unable to repair.

Flash forward 2 years. The UEAO now calls the alien race “Mantus”. It was inspired by the Etruscan Mythology’s god of the underworld. The UEAO were preparing to move to a different location in now war-ravaged North America. As they were on the Supercarrier ‘Nova’, almost halfway through the Pacific, everyone onboard Nova witnessed the Mantus warship that brought them there activate for the first time since they saw it arrive. It powered up the hole in its center, and shot it into the ocean behind the Nova supercarrier. Nothing else happened, but the Nova got to shore safely, disembarked, and began to prepare. The UEAO quickly used every nation’s money that they could expend to make an evacuation ship to get to Titan as soon as possible. A branch of the UEAO detached and retreated into the old territory of Area 51 and went to work. They have been working nonstop since the UEAO last heard.

It’s now 2053 and what remains of the UEAO constructed a base in what remains of the region of Area 51, defending against assorted Mantus attacks but never a full-blown one. It is taboo, but not illegal to leave the territory of the base, and about 50 thousand soldiers and 250 thousand civilians are there in the vast space. The UEAO has established a small nation-state there, allowing refugees in and whatnot. The base has not suffered an attack in 3 months and everything seems peaceful… now you control what happens next.

    IC Factions

Refugees: You start out as one. Neutral citizen/denizen of the Area 51 base.

United Earth Alliance Organization: Once a sloppy mess of countries thrown together to save the human race on Earth, it's now a very tightly-run organization consisting of the old UN, NATO, and assorted country alliances. Their rival are the Mantuses.

Mantus Species: A slime-based species, able to morph into any form to better suit their environment. They're known as world-conquerors, and they excel in making technology. Their tech level is at least 50 times as advanced, or 500 years ahead of humans. They came to Earth in a Tetrahedron-esque mothership and it now floats in orbit like a taunt. Humans are always reminded of who they're sharing the planet with now.

Various Bandit Groups: Bandit groups, of course, exist outside of the base. They regard Mantuses as a bother and take advantage of their attacks to kill and steal. If you leave the base, be wary.

Basic Weaponry and Armor of the UEAO

HTABC – Hover Tank Armored Battalion Carrier, M256 smoothbore can be shelled in 105mm AM rounds

Humvee – Armored car, can have .50 cal mounted

HAPC – Hover Armored Personnel Carrier, 152mm M81 smoothbore gun, can be shelled in APC-Spec AM rounds

Dune Buggy - Basic one to two person vehicle, lightweight and fast

Anti-Matter Turret - One manned, chambered in 20x102 Vulcan AM rounds

Repurposed Mantus Tech - Assorted weapons and tech salvaged from dead Mantus footsoldiers.

PR-561AT – A breakthrough in Science. Mantus weapon tech made usable by humans. Very rare, only used by approved personnel or no one at all. Very high recoil and not very good in combat. This weapon existence is unknown to most.

    Mantus Weaponry

Rifle – A burlier and more “Mantus” looking PR-561AT. The UEAO copied their design and put it to use. Extremely volatile. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/ozi_nngdKQc/hqdefault.jpg

Pistol – Mantus sidearm. Looks odd. C-shaped, fires highly volatile balls of plasma that singe clothing and skin. [IMG]

Sniper – Detailed graph, but mysterious weapon. Fires solid plasma rod that dissolves anything it touches on impact. Highly volatile. Never engage or come in contact with a Mantus wielding this. You're definitely in danger. [IMG]

No Mantus vehicles other than drones yet. Perhaps they don’t grasp the concept.

    The drone in question.

Thanks. I've been drafting the lore for almost 2 years now, never had an actual chance to implement it into a server. Finally got the chance and snatched it up really quick with no concern for money. I hope I can actually do things with the gamemode, because I've had bad experiences running servers (bastards spamming me for shit, no playerbase, etc)

I'm not a big fan of this sort of sci-fi genre, but it looks well done enough.

Godspeed, friend. I hope it goes well.
