It was fun as fuck until it got old, it just happened to get old when they started making it an actual game. I played on Aflac's minecraft server and it was fun for a bit, then it got old again and it was a bore. I'm sure I could hop on and enjoy it again-- for about an hour or two. Just my two cents.

Gotta agree. Multiplayer Minecraft is way too easy, so back in the day when me and my friend used to play we just installed a fuckload of plugins/mods and did random shit.

I won't quote myself again, figure it out, maybe?

....you know there's creative mode, right?

Jesus, you can do multiple quotes in one post, make use of that feature.

If you read the full post you'd notice I said I liked having some mobs around that can hurt me, just not food shit. :)

Daohlocks The Bible is my favorite sci-fi novel.

Food is literally the easiest thing to get.... just kill three cows and you have food for a month....
also no you said you wanted to live peacefully with said mobs which is hilarious.

    I'm a simple person.

also thanks for the multi-quote now my soul is riddled with filth.

Doesn't mean I have to like it. You wanted us to give you a reason why some of us preferred the old copies, I gave you one.

Well, that's sorta controversial but okay.

I've actively played minecraft since very early Alpha, and not much about the game has inherently gotten better since Beta.
They've added new a lot of "things" but none of them add any depth to the game.
Mojang added a bunch of things that don't make the game any more fun, and the simplicity that so many people have nostalgia for is gone.
There was very little broken or unfinished about early Minecraft - it was just a totally different (and for some of us, better) game.

Daohlocks The Bible is my favorite sci-fi novel.

They are adding shields, the ability to wield two items at once and wings.
They added a dimension, villagers, villages, better cave systems, a fuckton of blocks, horses, rabbits, different kinds of fish, underwater temples, jungle temples, desert temples, Overworld Strongholds, Nether strongholds, an entire set of decorative items, another entire set of redstone related items, hunger (which isn't that hard to manage), Creative Mode, Spectator Mode, command blocks that let you execute commands in-game with redstone circuits and a drastically improved the terrain generators.
If you think it lacks depth, I'm okay with that, but you are really missing out.

i'm aware of all of those being existant, they're cool, sure, but compare it to beta minecraft and pick out all of the main changes from gameplay.

there's three things that are entirely different:

    a) there's a lot more things to achieve before really getting to the sandbox part
    b) the base gameplay feels entirely different
    c) the community is fucking cancerous compared to casual guys that used to mess around

think of it like this: left4dead 3 adds in helicopters, tanks, hardcore co op, pvp player on player open world survival, extreme rarity of items and hunger, sleep and toilet mechanics, and it was developed by EA, instead of the fast paced co-op zombie shooter. would you really like that game?

I mean, yeah, maybe. I'd have to play it and try it.

The story mode has way too many cutscenes to even consider it a game.

Daohlocks The Bible is my favorite sci-fi novel.

    A) If you count killing three cows to get food as alot, then... well, sorry.
It still has the same "get this mineral to get this pickaxe to mine this thing to make this thing to decorate your house" stuff, so, yeah.
    B) No, it doesn't. Same good and old mining, same combat, same everything.
    C) A game's community does not make the game itself horrible, especially when Minecraft is mostly a singleplayer game. Hell, just catch a few friends and open up a private server like I did, it works wonders, I can assure you.

And yes, I would like that game.

I already stated that it's okay if Beta was good in your opinion. I'm just doing the same thing other people do to me in other threads.

Cool. I like problems. Is it a mathematical one? Oh! Oh! Is it a puzzle? Those are my favorites.
