Yes, C45 was my first map that I ever played HL2RP on, and I actually think I'll go with it to start out with.

I've learned if you provide incentives for rp in a certain area such as stores people'll automatically isolate themselves to that area, instead of being forced to stay there.
You know when someone tells you not to do something, then you straight up do it? That's kinda what happens when you decide to close off large areas of the city, people become more interested in getting over these artificial barriers.

Maybe instead of looking for a map that's functional, look for one that brings unique roleplaying opportunities to the table ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

C11. Honestly, I tried City 8 as a long-term map on my server, and we had some great roleplay, unique ideas, and systems going there, problem is that pretty much all the City 8 maps except v2 (Which is a massive, buggy mess imo) scream TnB with their mostly broken TnB-based systems. I've had lots of experience on C45 and C18, and sadly both have pretty much been squeezed for all their potential, and C45 relies mostly on really old systems such as the "Oh, only the Pro RPers can get to the Sloomz" mentality. I17 is out of the question, because of how bland it's become from so many communities using it lately. There are other options, but the best map I've really been able to find is C11, with its mostly unexplored canon and admirable features.

Here's what I have to say about it

City 8: Isn't really great unless you are going to make a fully based TnB server, with the corresponding models, etc.
City 17: One of the best maps for HL2RP honestly. It's by the book, and has everything you need. It has a great Citizen/MPF area, as well as a good place for the Rebels and Resistance to flourish.
Industrial 17: Very mainstream, but is like this for a reason, it has everything you would ever need/want. Because of this, it's quite big, and should be used with communities with a balanced Citizen/MPF ratio and a 10+ player base (minimum). There is an unnecessary amount of hidden doors that also need to be constantly watched for metagamers.
City 18: Personally my favorite, however, it's mainly D4 which makes for lolwebuls. It can be done properly if it's very tight knotted, and hard to get into D4.

I know there's a lot more maps, these are the mainstream ones however. Hopefully I helped. Keep in mind, these are nothing but opinions.

  6. I like this list, I recently made a server with Terminal 6 and no one plays on it, I want a good map that people will actually play on, I'm thinking about going to City 11, 45, or City 13.
