This may contain some elements which you might not understand, in this roleplay that we bring to you, it will mainly base around the Refugees and the Resistance but with some Citizen roleplay here and there, I understand that most of the half life roleplay servers are mainly fixed upon one city like City 8, City 17, City 11.

The story takes place in the years 2020-2023, this would mean that the combine’s prize possession, the ‘Citadel’, would have sent out the massive portal storm wiping out all life inside City 17 and all life surrounding that area would be wiped out, or intoxicated with the very harmful
intoxicating dust/gas and this is completely my view upon the events after the collapse of the ‘Citadel’. Thus in my view the dispatch would be wiped out, and the remaining Civil Protection units would become rouge, unless brainwashed, the brainwashed Civil Protection would class the normal Civil Protection as Resistance members thus starting a civil war between the un-brainwashed CPs and the brainwashed CPs, this means all of the dispatch would be gone, meaning that the brainwashed CPs would fight under the same jurisdictions as before, and the Rogue CPs/Un-brainwashed CPs would remain to kill the Resistance, and the Brainwashed CPs. But in total this would make all the cities go dark, meaning that the remaining citizens in the cities would escape, and become the Refugees/Resistance, but it would spout all out conflict between the Humans and the remaining Combine as they would be fighting for the last resources left on earth, meaning food, water, ammunition, money, power, electricity, towns, cities, etc.

But this roleplay is different as it is not quite 'Outlands' roleplay it still takes some elements from it but this is more fixed upon survival outside the city's walls and out of Breen's grasp, even though you will encounter the OTF- Overwatch Task Force, you will also encounter various creatures/lifeforms such as the Exogens, Necrotics, Biogens and Xen Lifeforms. When you first spawn in on the server after creating your character, and assigning him/her a backstory, you will need to adapt it to the server’s lore e.g.: Refugee, Escapee, and Wastelander. If you need further help/information on such backstory, the staff team and I are here to help, just remember, the oxygen is thinner, the wasteland is intoxicated, the sewers are radiated... Where is safety, you may ask?

Where will I start?

The story of the outland begins;
after escaping City 17 via train, you managed to stumble upon an open wasteland, there seems to be major summit to join the journey and find out... Your story starts in the Outlands. With your breathing as the oxygen levels would be lower and it would be thinner and in some cases more intoxicating, it would give you the effects of; Headache, Vomiting, Vomiting [blood]. There are some more effects of the wasteland what would be the intoxicating water, this would most likely be full of biogenic lifeforms, these little lifeforms would be exactly the size of maggots or larva, and would be a dark blueish colour but in water they would appear invisible due to their camouflage system, and the way you would get them is by drinking the intoxicated water, and what they would do is they would eat you from the inside out slowly, as they would be slightly related to the leeches and that family as they would suck away at your blood internally but it would also make you vomit up the some black liquid what would be their excrement.

The creatures/lifeforms you will face in the outlands;
there are three main lifeforms that you will find in the wasteland that being the Necrotics, Exogens, Xen Lifeforms.

Exogenic Life Forms:

Exogens are the Second most common form of non-human life within the outlands. And they can pop-up wherever they please, with their ability to dig tunnels underneath the soil you tread upon, and burst up out of the ground to take another life...

Necrotic Life Forms:

The Necrotics would be the first main lifeform you will be in combat with as the Necrotics would consist of Headcrabs what would be little creatures that would harvest the human body and they would almost use it to puppeteer and the would take a hard clamp on the humans skull as it would then spew the parasitic life forms into the mouth as it would then melt some of the humans skin off and tissue in that respect as it would go down to the bare bones as that is why the Necrotic Walker would scream out speech from the previous being meaning if it was a female would have a females voice and if it was a male it would have a males voice and so on so it would be quite un-attachable form this point as any means of getting it off would kill the host and the headcrab [at times].

Xen Lifeforms:

The Xen Life Form would be the rarest to find in the wasteland as it they would be creeping around in the Xen world for most of the time… But be warned they are heartless killers they will assault you at any time they wish, the main Xen Lifeform and quite honestly the nicest would be the Vortigaunts, as some would be tame and the others would be untamed so be careful who you trust… They would also hardly speak in English, as their main language would be Vortigeease.

The weather:

The weather in the outlands would be on half and half some days it would be nice and sunny and the others would be hazardous conditions like extremely cold or extremely raining/thunder storms and even at times it could be extremely snowy. The weather would be a massive part in your survival of the wasteland so prepare your items, grab your coat, get your weapons and get going… So what is your part in the outlands?

FACTIONS:

Survivor:
You have finally escaped the grips of the Combine, now run flee to the outlands and search for your salvation, you may not be armed but you have your respirator/gas-mask, that's all you really need to survive also that and the bare necessities, food, water, energy. You must keep yourself warm, while ensuring you do not get infections.. But these things have become harder to find due to the production being haltered, supplies being cut. The streets have become intoxicated junkyards, cities are decaying, corpses have littered the streets, miscellaneous combine equipment scattered, and with there being hardly any power, you need your trusty flashlight for when it gets dark, but sleep is not advisable as you are basically a vulnerable morsel for hungry Exogens, you must also watch out so that you don’t think contaminated water. You can't tell if its clean or not so be careful...

Resistance:
After surviving all the horror and pain that the combine brought to you, this is your last effort, your final shot at bringing back human civilization, but do you choose the path of good, or evil..? With no laws, or the combine to control you the world is your oyster. Right and wrong would no longer matter. Social norms have been destroyed. You would be faced with a dark and dull world, cities tarnished by the portal storm incident, you may never see the true daylight again as the dark intoxicating dust covers the earths surface, but now that the citadel is down, that means the suppression field is down, allowing for a chance of rebuilding human society that you once knew.

Overwatch Task Force:

Dispatch is down, you and your unit is all you have, your radio doesn't work properly, your PDA shows up red, the combine locks and combine equipment do not register you anymore, all you have is your trusty stun-stick and USP, it’s your job to control this madness, but with limited supplies and backup, it seems like you're now the runt of the lot, but as you are brainwashed you still have your directives, kill all anti-citizen's, and deserviced units.

Overwatch Synthetic Arm:

You were built to tackle open wasteland such as these, you were built to dominate and overpower your foe, but now that Dispatch is down, it seems like your systems are in a haywire mode, meaning you're on high alert, can you detect who is Combine or not? Make your call.

Rogue Civil Protection:

You finally have your chance to escape, now that Dispatch is down, cities are dark, crime is at an all-time high, nobody can stop you, so run, flee, but I don't think that the Resistance, or Refugee's will like you too much as of the pain you brought them, so your call.

Overwatch Task Force Ranking System:
The OTF ranking system is only for Brainwashed officers; non-brainwashed officers would become Rogue or, be executed on sight.

-01:

Access to: all remaining SMG's, Shotguns, Pistols, Grenades, Smokes, and Flash grenades.

01 Units are rare, and powerful. They have command over all other OTF units other than fellow 01 units. They are mostly inside an Outpost or command situations from afar when possible. They are either some of the very few EOW units remaining – or are surviving DvL units.
-02: Access to: all remaining SMG's, Pistols, Grenades, and Smoke grenades.

02 Units usually command squads of 3 or smaller. Their commonly seen patrolling, and are somewhat moderately augmented. They are OWS Units, or units who have been part of the OTF force for some time, and have gained experience in the battlefield.
-03: Access to: all remaining Pistols, Grenades, and Smoke grenades.

03 Units are rarely seen outside of an Outpost alone. They often patrol with 02 Units or in a squad of 5 with other 03 Units. They are old units who were previously units higher than 01, whom had been completely brainwashed.

HOW TO RP OBTAINING GEAR:

It is very hard to survive without gear. This guide will help you know how to RP obtaining loot from various locations. For example if you are inside an empty room, you might see an empty shelf (OOCly) but ICly there might be a flashlight, some water or perhaps even a light firearm. In this guide I will be showing you the different categories of gear, what is required to obtain them and the limit of what this can be done.

First off, you need to be looking at the specific area where you think there may be loot hidden or sitting there in plain sight. In your RP you must state what item you are searching for, then you must roll the required amount for it, or higher. Here is an example for you. (All parts where there is a ** in front, means it is an action.)

** John Smith enters the room, his eyes scanning it, looking for anything to take.
** John Smith walks over to the table, beginning to search it, hoping to find a flashlight.
** John Smith has rolled an 83.
** John Smith opens one of the drawers, seeing a flashlight laying there.

Here is an example where, if you rolled an insufficient amount, how you would RP it.

** John Smith enters the room, his eyes scanning it, looking for anything to take.
** John Smith walks over to the table, beginning to search it, hoping to find a flashlight.
** John Smith rolls a 12.
** John Smith opens the drawer, seeing it empty.

What's your average players and at what time is its height

 

Erm, currently the server is undergoing a gray screen bug and is currently being fixed, but the server is pretty new.
I'm still testing around, fixing things, adding things. But nevertheless it is playable.
On height we get around 4-5 players, it's just a shame people don't see the smaller severs they just aim for the well known.
But yeah, sorry about the grammar mistakes, I'll fix them.

 

Quick question, how does this fall under the "Custom Schema" category? This is literally just HL2RP on Outlands.

But for what reason did you highlight that?

 

I'd edit the prefix if I were you. Gives off the wrong impression.
+ I quoted your segment that describes the "Survivors" and Resistance because they're both so, so wrong. Not only will you A) Not have enough time ICly to 'start a family' or do any of those other edgy as fuck things you described in your post, but that's not how any refugee should act. Also, what's the difference between Refugees and Survivors?
The way you write the whole thread is so vague, nothing is truly detailed enough to spark my interest or anyone in the right mind's interest at all. There's no information about CP Ranks, any insight as to how the RP works, nothing, just a really fundamental explanation of what the factions are.
The whole "Dispatch is down" scenario is admittedly very interesting and I'd love to see how it can be put into practice, but you are really going to have to modify this if you wanna bring it back. For me, anyways. Some might find this edgy enough to be enticing.

TL;DR really work on your thread and cut down on the edgefest.

Well I completely understand what you mean, this is my first time posting on the forum, and I did expect to get criticism for it, but all in all I will take in what you have said and add to it, but the whole 'Start a family' ordeal was a humorous joke, I thought. But I need to focus on it being more professional then humorous, but I sure will add to the factions and ranking system.

The idea seems really good-- I've actually had this idea myself. (Roleplay with the main thing being a part of the Lambda resistance.) As long as it's based in somewhere not in the city-- I can see it being plausible. In fact, the whole point of HL2 (and what made it so fun) was being a rebel.

Not sure about the server though, I have yet to read all of the information.

 

I don't recommend having a difference between Rebel and Survivor. At this point, they're all in the same boat, they all escaped the city. The last thing you want is someone not being included.
However, the use of rogues is interesting but my experience with rogues is them quickly being accepted into society despite literally causing years of pain formerly.

So, what exactly is stopping me from going to every container I see and RPing looting it till I get a 100 roll and get heavy tier gear?



Seems like this system is easily exploitable, I don't think you should be able to get a gun over a /roll.

 

I think low-tier items such as a flashlight, maybe 5-10 tokens and at most a health vial is alright, just....Really, you can get an SVD?
