New Era

Discussion in 'Discussion' started by Dremek, May 21, 2015.

  1. Is it just me, or are there an absolute shitton of servers that are launching around the beginning of summer-- because I know, and have been talking to several people, and the general consensus with over a dozen servers is: "We've waited long enough-- been working on it for long enough, and ready to launch."

Do you think this new influx of servers will be a good thing for the roleplaying community, or will it adversely affect it?

It happens every summer, and it destroys good communities. Every. Summer.

Honestly, I think it's just gonna be one of those phases of "We're gonna be different from everyone else!" and then the owner is a douche, his admins are donator assholes, citizens can't do jack shit, MPF are terminator status, guns are only in admin hands, and you have to apply for any IQ level above your own shoe size. So in reality, the worst isn't gonna be any change at all.

I could be wrong though, this could be something completely new. I welcome said change, because I need new servers to play on that don't piss me off.

as of late i've pretty much only played on tnb as the CW community has by far been infected with trolls, bad roleplayers, etc. my thoughts are that while this may seem good, i can already tell some servers will go rotten quickly, i'm still working on mine, just me and jenkins atm hammering out stuff with an 800+ group atm. but in all seriousness, CW does need a 'revive' in a way, i hope this is it.

There's an influx because many people are getting out of school, I think it will be healthy for CW because it will increase competition resulting in innovation needing to be better than the other servers.

No, I mean good communities with potential that decide to start in the summer in hopes of having players in large amounts. The mass of new decent and bad servers cut up the roleplay community between them and it kills servers. In short, the population available is divided between too many servers. This leaves them at deficit. It sucks because good servers unintentionally kill eachother. It would be so much better if they somehow operated together. I dunno.

Lmao all this talk about "influx of servers" over the summer. Bruh we already know half of these servers will be dead within a week of release and the remaining few will be the usual player count of 4 out of something.

That being said I pray to God someone proves me wrong.

  13. I love the narcissism, "oh noe dey gay gon be ded in 2wek lmoa" Like really, maybe the reason they die is because of a lack of support and overwhelming bullshit and negativity from everyone that has the ability to help and make it decent but instead is one of the core reasons the hl2rp community as a whole is degraded to absolute pizza crumbs?

The servers that i like better are the ones that don't go around touting and shouting about how 'hype' they are, that are rather a bit closed/reserved in their approach and just humbly pop-up, because those are usually the ones that are actually any good and care more about keeping to themselves and providing quality RP rather than amassing armies of memelords to conquer by numbers, because they don't think that if you have an endless supply of players you're able to 'last' and have zero quality, as opposed to only having a handful but actually having some quality. Those that don't come roaming around with their dick in their hand spreading their bullshit, being overly cocky and pretending to be the next 'big-thing' are from what i've seen, sometimes the next 'big-things'. Small communities from humble beginnings have made names for themselves and some are remembered more than the big empire-giants of rubbish that have come and gone and some that even still remain.

There are decent servers out there, but people either have too unrealistic expectations, or the people hosting them aren't that experienced, or a combination of any other reasons.

There will be decent servers, and there are right now, you just have to find them and not listen to what the whole meme-army says about what is good and what's not and just see for yourself.

The good thing about these servers coming up is that eventually, as we're starting to see, people are going to actually fucking do it right, and that's a problem for a lot of people, because up until now, or recently, they could pull shit bullshit, they could half-ass it, they could just throw some cool kid-code into a server and be 'yay best serva eva' and they could over-promise and under-deliver, now when there's servers coming up that don't fuck people over with false hopes, that puts A LOT of pressure on those that revel in low-quality and don't really give a fuck about running a server and being any good and just want to be a popular kid and have their name known.

People are being or are going to be exposed for the frauds they are, and the people that actually put in solid effort are going to get all the spoils of healthy competition and dedication, and rightfully so.

Don't be surprised if entire mega-communities begin to crumble and the new wave of servers start pooling in players and really lifting off the ground, it's long over-due.

The only decent server's I've ever witnessed are some OpenAura ones and some early clockwork ones

go ahead and check out every server in the HL2RP list
    the admins are fucking horrible
i'm happy bob good and his militia are fighting for a good cause
    god bless them
(I only support bob good fighting the facists)'

Anyways what you wrote, it's all true. You basically described nearly every, fucking, current GMOD Serious RP community owner at the moment. Like, holy crap. "The good thing about these servers coming up is that eventually, as we're starting to see, people are going to actually fucking do it right, and that's a problem for a lot of people, because up until now, or recently, they could pull shit bullshit, they could half-ass it, they could just throw some cool kid-code into a server and be 'yay best serva eva' and they could over-promise and under-deliver, now when there's servers coming up that don't fuck people over with false hopes, that puts A LOT of pressure on those that revel in low-quality and don't really give a fuck about running a server and being any good and just want to be a popular kid and have their name known."

I'm not gonna give any names about who those current owners are, but it's quite clear who they are.

although this is gonna cause drama
it's a gaming community for fucks sake
people take serious RP way too fucking serious out of character
    way too fuckin serious

I was joking if you thought I was serious, Lol.

But really, there's a problem nowadays with RP communities.
It's like goatfuckers fucking goats; they are fucking someone over, in that case, the goat.
With RP, the admins are fucking over the players, and then the fucking grows stronger.
    You get it?

    Goatfuckers.

lemme just say that every server i've joined so far has major flaws.
especially that nightmare RP, jesus christ.

And...Every..Half life Two Roleplay.. Has a citizen model pack.. Can't those large, TnB packs, just..Fuck off? Why are they even here..
man all i'm saying is that every serious roleplay at the moment in garrysmod seems like crap. I'm gonna probably start a community of my own soon with it's own custom schema/story, and other stuff.

    Goatfuckers = Middle East Terrorists.
Admin Fucking Over players = jackasses

  19. For some reason owners tend to think releases in the summer are great because everyone is free. Once again, everyone is free, which includes the children that spend lots of time on Garry's Mod who have people like 'VenturianTale' as their idol. o_O Good communities and bad communities always come out of releases but in my personal opinion at the time of the releases there will be a sudden community change in gamemodes which are noted to be mature to a minge-bag filled experience. If there is a crowd control on each server's populace, maybe it will turn out to be a 'New Era' and it'll be a nice change for HL2RP but there's still a chance a lot of servers will die. As I said before, this is just my personal opinion and there isn't a 100% chance of this happening.

  20. I think it's up to people to change the scene, to change the 'standard' and i think this is being done and over time it will improve.

For example look at donations, now it's the 'standard' that people don't offer whitelists and weapons etc etc, people, even players appear to now favor that whereas previously it was all the hype and everyone thought it was okay.

It's about setting new sort of quality enforcements, and i think it's happening.
Ofcourse you still get those over-night communities that literally just popup out of nowhere with zero planning, and to be honest there's one or two right now that have a capped server, mostly because it's break right now or whatever, but once it ends they may fall back into the abyss and things will continue as normal and they'll cease to exist. It's sort of like a popularity thing in a sense, 'Oh that server has a lot of people! i'll join!' and it just spirals from there, which can be good.

It being any good is a whole other story, but even so it puts pressure on the big giants to really start being decent, which can be a good thing, too.
