I knew the RP game was poisonous but Christ alive, we're actually discussing it like old men would discuss politics.
It'll be healthy for the game mode, not so much for smaller communities. That's just the way it's always been.

I miss the open-aura day's where there was like 15 decent server's (and I happened to run a mostly populated one) ;(

I ran my own server and I was not poor. It was more of, if people really like the server enough, 20$ would be easy to cough up between 40+ players.

As for the vanilla theory. A lot of the new owners are simply young and trying to learn how to code themselves. Yeah some are shit and some are bad. And some are just power hungry owners. But there's a good handful that are using it to learn how to code and stuff. I think that deserves praisal. Even if the community sucks man. RJ started somewhere, (roblox)

I don't automatically think It's a horrible thing. Most server's start out in the summer, to try and attract players because they assume everyone is bored 'n has absolutely zero life during the summer; There's that one occasional server(or two) That's surprisingly really great and doesn't focus on making Citizen life a living hell or some bull-shit excuse to have a Faction be more powerful than another.
Then, There's the other-side to summer Server's.
Some server's release during the summer due to work/school having most of their time during the Months of September-??? However, people shouldn't use the excuse of "We've been preparing for months/years, and now here's the final release " That statement shouldn't be used, unless there's actual straight up evidence of them working hard; Simply buying a Schema&setting it up and doing little to no hard work, then claiming that you've been planning/doing hard work for it, Is a ludicrous statement.

I do think that a new-wave of servers will be good though. It encourages a sort of "racing competition" to always be one step ahead quality and content wise, which could always spark a really good server. You never know

 

We need a tl;dr rating for these forums, on a serious note. It happens every summer none gamemode specific. Because for those of whom attend school have a busy schedule, so the holidays come for most schools in the obvious countries. So the influx of players new and old is present. It can be for the good as some good communities that struggle get their moment of joy, bad servers tend to shut down and new one's open. And in general you see a rise in servers, a decline in quality, and by the end of it all they all die off because the kiddies go back to school, the old fags stay the same cus y'know work. And the higher education lot go back to being piss heads in University. I should also mention that this is not specific to Garry's mod, it happens in games like ARMA 3, DayZ, and many more.

Anyway long story short, servers open. They get attacked by the usual minges/minge groups. They ban them all only to realise that was their playerbase, they then shut down and say HL2:RP is dead.
