New Version of Clockwork

Discussion in 'Discussion' started by Forester155, Oct 25, 2012.

  1. Okay, so, I have some questchuns.

    Firstly, Will all of our Open-Aura data be compatable with Clockwork? IE: I have a bunch of whitelists and chars. Will my server be able to;
A:Use the same database as before
B:Some kind of Database Compatibility/convert, be it direct accept, or a convert tool.

Secondly, and I know you can't release this publicly, but, i hope you can PM me or something mabye, I'm good with understanding this shit and shit, When will Clockwork come out? I don't need a tangible date. Something like, A week, Two Weeks, a Month to Six Months, mabye? Like, a general no-promises approximation, so i have SOMETHING to go by please?

    1)No.
    2)No.

    Data will require little edits
Database will most likely not be compatible

  3. So is there any way at all to port old whitelists/characters/items from OpenAura to Clockwork? Because that only leaves either starting from scratch or manually copying everything over, and that could take a good deal of time...

  4. Well for one, just wait. And for two, just wait.

    You forgot No.3

No.3 See if these questions are already on the forums.

  6. They are, Trurascalz, however, the answers are not clear.

So, with clockwork, are we talking, minor database edits? IE, cut and paste, whatever. Or are we talking full file modification that would take eons and a half to copy over data, and we therefore would start from scratch? If i could hear an answer from kurozael or an administrator, i would be Really, Really, REALLY happy.

  7. The thing is, its not "DONE" let them work. Clockwork is not going out for a bit, It is really buggy at its current state. Give Alex, Cona, impulse some time to work on it. And if you can't convert it, to damn bad its Garry's Mod 13 not 10, It is like asking for Dupes from Gmod9 for Gmod10. You all have waited this long, I think you can wait a week or so, YOU WON'T DIE!

  8. Valkarie, I understand where you are coming from, however, some of us are part of servers with HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of characters, that we don't want to just Dissapear into thin air. I just wish i had a more tangible answer on this thingys. Though I guess i will find out when it comes out.

For those who want to wait, I'll make a database converter.

    You've just lit up so many people's face's :)

  12. Hi there,

In my opinion, you should release the framework and the schema's, making characters just takes a minute. However, I realize a lot of you run communities and all. But maybe release it, then proceed with the database converter, just a thought.

  13. Actually, I can read.

I know that Legacy for HL2RP is finished, and I'm not sure about others, it was a 'thought'.

  14. I'm going to get bagged on for now wanting to pay 25$ or 60$? I'd rather not stick to reading, bag on me I guess, it's a substitute while you wait.

Actually Legacy schemas aren't done, they're being done now.

What I meant was that customers who REALLY want their data converted I may make something for them to convert *most* of their database to work with Clockwork.. but honestly, I don't really think it's worth it.

  16. RenRen

    RenRen kaboom.

Each community can just do a refund, there is seriously no need for you guys to make a converter lol :p

  17. Thanks for the reply alex, this clears up alot. So what you're saying is that Open Auras databases will NOT be compatible with Clockworks, however it IS possible to convert data. If it's not too much to ask, could I get an ETA on this?

Also, RenRen, you have to understand. Some of us aren't ABLE to do a 'refund' for hundreds of players. It would save alot of our administrators time, if we could just use the old data. It seems possible, according to alex. Thing is, after research, I see that they want to keep ALOT under wraps, with very good reason. So, I'm going to stop prodding so hard and let it happen when it happens.
