THE YEAR IS 1980 and the world has finally tipped off the brink of war. It has been nearly thirty-five years since the end of World War II and yet it seems the world has forgotten about the lessons they should have learned from it.
The forces of capitalism and communism, democracy and dictatorship have collided ever since the two ideologies began to rule the world in ways never seen before. Once, people fought over religion. Now that religion is ideology.
When two forces collide, they often make a spark. When fuel is present, it creates a fire. The forces of politics are now ideology and the fuel... well... has existed since the beginning of man. Sometimes that fire can burn wild and can seem endless. Most of the time it dies out and is forgotten. This time, unfortunately, that is not the case.

WELCOME TO WORLD WAR III

THE WORLD IS AT WAR and not a single human being is left unaffected. The economy has went into a landslide, especially in the countries of N.A.T.O and their sworn allies. China has been devastated economically, no longer in any strong trade relations as a result of the current war and the Sino-Soviet split. The neutral countries of the world are rapidly losing trade relations and are forced to focus on military in order to face the reality that they might be invaded at any time.

The war had started in October 1979, less than a year earlier, and it took only months for the world to realize the west was losing. Forces of the Warsaw Pact had reached the Rhine river in only a month and had capitulated Denmark, Norway, Austria and Yugoslavia in only two months. Eventually, the war stalemated in France, Italy and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, countries in other theaters of the world fell day by day into defeat at the hands of the Warsaw Pact. The situation had remained no different until now -- the United States of America is directly under invasion and the whole world watches as a once powerful superpower crumbles under the strength of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact.

The Soviet Union continues with their 'no first use' policy, but has begun to use tactical nuclear weapons in response to the N.A.T.O. use of such weaponry. The war has gone too far for the use of strategic nuclear weapons and the western nations know this. A launch of such weapons would mean the end of humanity and would require launching them at their own occupied allies. They have prepared to fight to the death instead. Despite this, the population of the world still watches with great fear, praying that they will never see their homes leveled into oblivion.

Now, the front has reached the small town of Hersch, Nevada after paratroopers landed in the mountains nearby. The population is already under pressure to adjust to their new rulers. What will happen as a result? We will see.

THE SETTING OF RED TIDE is currently the town of Hersch, Nevada. It is a small town in the Mojave Desert that, despite its size, is an important stop (or was) for shipping trucks and trains.
Beyond the town itself, the area is home to the following:

• The Ducatel truck stop (which is a short distance from Hersch).
• A local private airport and airplane graveyard.
• A local radio station on the hill overlooking Hersch, where music and news were provided on short wave frequencies to the truckers driving through the desert highway.
• A United States military base which has existed in the area for years. The government had kept the base mostly secret and apart from a few nosy teenagers, the soldiers had kept mostly out of contact from the town population. Not much is known about what is kept inside, however it is known that an underground rail line rounds through the area. It is rumored that despite efforts from the Warsaw Pact soldiers to remove them, small amounts of US troops still remain inside the facility kept supplied by the underground rail.

// The actual map in use is gm_chapparal, a popular map set in a desert-mountainous region that is perfect for the local setting we wish to have in this roleplay concept. Everything detailed in the description above actually exists in the map and will be utilized. Aside from the content pack the map requires, in order to not see through a few walls you must have Left 4 Dead 2. In order to not see some errors, you must have Counter-Strike: Source. This is partially fixed by one of the addons we have.

We would like to thank everyone for sticking around during the Metro 2033 Roleplay, however the tide has turned in favor of other communities at much fault of our own. We are not looking to drop the legacy of Nuclear Winter, rather we are looking for alternatives that people can enjoy that are not in the Metro Universe. This is one of the ideas we received and we are glad to experiment no matter the cost.

A RED LETTER DAY
July 18th, 1980​

IT HAS BEEN over a month since the first fighting in America began. The Warsaw Pact alliance had surged forward across the border with relative ease, only encountering significant resistance miles in. It was then that the sirens sounded and the world knew that America, the land of the free, was now truly under direct threat by the east. Now, enemy troops have surged forward in what is nicknamed the 'Mojave Pocket', allowing the capture of the town of Hersch in lower Nevada.
The town residents rose to the marching of soldiers right outside their windows. This was completely usual; there was a United States Military base not far from the town. The reality, however, was completely unusual. These were no American troops, these were Russians, Cubans, Mexicans -- all of them soldiers. The day these people dreaded had arrived.

The police officers, oblivious of what side they were facing, emerged to watch the column only to be gunned down or forced to surrender. The whole town froze in shock and remained indoors, somehow thinking that they would be safe from the gruesome reality outside if they simply stayed at home. Soon, the troops broke off and barged into houses, sweeping the whole area. Over the next few hours, several gunshots would ring out throughout the town and the death toll would rise.
On the sight of the column, the residents atop the hill at the radio station immediately rushed to the military frequency, sending out a warning to the local military base that the enemy had arrived.
Following the attack by the Russian forces, the majority of the troops moved forward to the military base where the battle would begin for control of the underground bunker. That battle still continues to this day, with an end only to come when the front line cuts off the underground supply railway.

A WEEK LATER
July 26th, 1980​

It has been a little over a week since the occupation began at Hersch and the situation still is surreal to the majority of the residents. Although the first few days were a complete crackdown on the town, the occupational force has mostly left the civilian population to their own everyday duties. No one can leave and everyone must abide by the rules and commands put in place by the Warsaw Pact forces. If anyone is to cause large scale trouble, a day one massacre will come once again.

 

It's kind of far fetched for the Soviets to move an invasion force through the mountainous areas of the United States?

 

Although they might be taking a risk to do so, I would suppose they would take advantage of any vulnerability they see in the enemies front line. The majority of the forces would be paratroopers with tanks and vehicles coming later.

 

Makes sense I guess.

 

So, Red Dawn RP basically? I could give this a try.

Nevermind, I skipped the top text by mistake.

 

We are shooting to open by the weekend (at least Friday), meanwhile we are going to be pushing out applications and signup forms for people who want positions when it launches. We will need positions filled in order for this to work out.

I appreciate how this isn't an alternate history scenario and simply a Red Dawn server, because I mean.. Red Dawn was pretty coolio and you don't have to do much explaining.
