Welcome, to Odessa Gaming. Founded recently, we're a start-up community created from scratch. Thats not to say we haven't been around; I've had my fair share of communities, I've remembered the countless hours pacing around the alleyways of City 18. I can remember my first RP Community, and I can remember my last. I've known the lore well, and so do my fellow staff members. We're here at Odessa to create a new roleplaying experience; One created from lessons learned, not personal taste.

Odessa gaming is set apart because we're eager to earn new members. To do this, we've developed a ideology that is more than likely unheard of for HL2 Servers. We've decided to make it official, that if proven wrong in an argument, our staff will back down from their standing and side with the victor. We're not spineless; We wont be pushed over by every gust of mingery, but at the same time, we're not going to stamp out any chance of individualism in HL2RP. After all, isn't that what it's about? Making your OWN character, making your OWN decisions, unrestricted from abusive admins.

Half-Life 2 presents a dystopian alternate history of Earth, where the resources of the planet, including the human race itself, are being harvested by an oppressive multidimensional empire, known as the Combine. The game is set around the fictitious City 17, roughly 20 years after the events of its predecessor Half-Life. In Odessa Gaming, the roleplay takes place in a sub-division of City 17 approximately several kilometers away from the Citadel.

This faction contains all the 'average joes.' It contains all the regular people, just trying to get by day to day under the iron grasp of the Combine. These people can range from high-ranked loyalists, enjoying the benefits of the reap, to homeless and hunted criminals, reaping the benefits for themselves.

The Metro-Police Force (AKA Civil Protection) contain the "outstanding" citizens of the CCA, who, with increased rations and improved life dazzling in their eyes, step up and join the Combine, rather than fighting them. They are stronger due to higher rationing, carry body armor and semi-automatic weapons, and almost always have a reason for joining. Most MpF Units secretly use their power to protect loved ones, but as time goes on and rank increases, it may become difficult for the Officer to remember who he fought for.

The Overwatch exist as the premier Military Arm of the CCA. Officially the Synthetic Division of the Military, they are Humans who have undergone massive augmentation and memory replacement, turning them into efficient killing machines. The OTA are heavily armed and armored, capable of sweeping entire blocks in four man fireteams. The OTA are an event only faction, and are not allowed to flag up whilst not required.

The Civil Worker's Union was started by the Combine to keep civilization alive. They range from the people licensed to sell general goods to the volunteers staffing the hospital. In return for their humanitarian efforts, they receive bigger rations, special privileges, and slightly better treatment from the CPs.

The rebels aren't criminals. They aren't trying to change their lifes, they're trying to change the worlds. The Rebels are a relatively uncontrolled group of armed extremists who attempt to flush the citizen populace of City 17 back into the outlands, keeping them away from the Combine Grasp. Rebels in Odessa Gaming are not required by whitelist or donation, and instead are unmanaged. We feel this gives a better RP Experience, because it creates internal conflict.

• Our events on Odessa Gaming are all-encompassing. Every faction will have its chance to shine, every player their chance to prove themselves.
  
• Citizens automatically are issued (/viewdata) information, so there won't be a jungle of different formats spreading around.
  
• We're currently even issuing character-permanent housing to applicable citizens, meaning you can safely roleplay with consistency from day-to-day, without worrying if your advance duplicated apartment will be hogged by a new player.
  
• As stated above,: We've decided to make it official, that if proven wrong in an argument, our staff will back down from their standing and side with the victor. Thanks for contributing your community to our forums. As Top-Hat said, it is a bit bland.
You should read the guides/other posts to see how you should change this post up into looking more fascinating.

Why do you use, what I presume is wordpress on the homepage then a completely different software for the forums ?, you could use the portal system for MyBB.

 

Because Wordpress has more flexibility for the things we want to add; the portal system is more limited. I know that it looks like we're making it overly complicated, but, it will make more sence when we finish the development of the hompeage.

 

It would be preferable if the IP and forums link were able to be copypasted.

 

I think you should put stuff you type in categories, like you have "In-Character Information" you should put "Server Information" etc.

But anyways, instead of us trying to find stuff on the forums I believe you should include the rules and if you have any custom content/what makes you guys a bit unique.

Looks not bad, should try to make the "Odessa Gaming" picture a bit less bland with the small black text. But don't forget that everything in the world could be better, so don't feel like you're not doing good enough, just improve it buddy. Good luck!

excuse me. I'll have you know i'm a great admin. I take my work very seriously when it comes to staff and HL2RP.

And the server is great for what it is today, we got all-round veteran and experienced Role-players, such as Walter, Cypher here and myself. And Outro payed a visit to the server as an Armenian Pickle-salesman looking for vapes of something of the like. But yes, the server is good. We just lack the population we need to get all-round good roleplay and attention for he server. And would love it if you guys would pay a visit or at-least check it out, not only would it make me happy. It'd make Cypher here happy too.

I mean come on, I've been giving tons of shit about HL2RP now-a-days as a dying gamemode with nothing good out there, and if I'm saying it's good, my word counts for something at-least.

Don't worry, no fucking weeaboos or circle-jerk cliques on the server like you might find on bigger servers.

It doesn't look mingy at all. It looks new, and incomplete.
It just needs a few tweaks. I will be joining later to see whether you are right or not.

It could do with some information to specify how things are ran, and what the server includes, then whatever else people would recommend - I suppose.

Even without that the thread looks fairly decent, so good work on that. I hope it gets some new information added - but even without it, you'll probably see me hop on soon.
