okay, i may have used incorrect terms there. islamophobic describes those comments better.

    my mistake.

but the fact still remains that he's suggesting that muslims be barred from entering the united states simply because they're muslim.

lol I don't see why people are getting so upset over that, we've barred groups of people from entering the country and otherwise mistreated minority groups several times.
"what is the Chinese exclusion act"
    "what is Japanese internment camps"

  5. it is not completely unjustified to bar a certain group from entering the country, because they are the most likely to be a threat. it's been done before.

  8. so you're saying we shouldn't try to prevent terrorists to get in, just because there are probably terrorists inside already? that's illogical.

yeah but it doesnt matter because the republicans don't have an electable candidate compared to hillary or bernie

The key difference is that Nixon knowingly committed crimes and Hillary has done nothing illegal. Unless of course you have some piece of evidence that the multiple congressional investigations, a DSS investigation, a DHS investigation, and an FBI investigation have yet to turn up. Yelling loudly enough "The sky is green" doesn't make it green.

Okay, I'm fully okay with people differing on political opinions (it's healthy for democracy). Where did I say that I wasn't? I'm making jokes. I'm sure this post is a joke too. If it's not, you might want to go check out some tumblr blogs about recovering from triggers.
Also, public colleges should be publically funded (not free - you pay via taxes) because there's no downsides to that. Everyone is more knowledgeable, exposed to more beliefs and ideas and it eases debt on the folks should have the least debt to be fully effective members of the economy. Most everyone middle class person who's gone to college in the past 10 years has a crazy amount of personal debt so they be part of a modern economy. You don't have to be an economist to figure out why that's bad. Speaking of economics, let's go over some basic microeconomics to figure out why state funding things is good. Let's use the military, for example. What's a great way of bringing the cost of something down? Buying it wholesale. Imagine a closed system, where you're the only guy who shops at a grain store. The grain store owner has two options: negotiate on a price that's fair or go out of business. Then you lose because there's no where else to buy it from. So with the military, we (as a nation) BUY a military (essentially) via TAXES to protect all of us. Can you imagine the cost of buying a soldier to defend your house? Or if each state in the US had to maintain a modern military? Why can't we apply this to schools? We already did with K-12, why not 2- or 4-year colleges?
As for minimum wage, I've never advocated for a $15 minimum wage. It's way too high in some places. What people are desperately in need of is a living wage.
But why should a person who works a 40 hour (or worse, 60 or 80 hour) workweek not be able to afford to live? Should a family of two parents working 40 hours each not be able to raise their kids? Why bother pushing all that money through a corporate bureaucracy of social safety net programs (which are very important, don't get me wrong), when the people could be making enough to live in the first place? That's all people are asking for. $15 is a reasonable amount in cities (like NYC) where this movement is growing popular.
Combine those two things as well. If everyone has the option of going to college, won't we have less workers in desperate need of high-availability jobs? The threat of automation is not solved by starving people out, that's an entirely separate issue. Food prices go up a bit, sure, but the cost of being poor is higher than the small increase you would see in food prices. There's actually been a lot of studies into this, if you're interested I could go find them for you.

Awesome. That's fucking hysterical lmao. Inappropriate, but good god nail on head.

I like this joke, because ITS NOT 1720 ANYMORE, CMON GUYS. It does a good job of nailing down his shtick. But is he explicitly wrong?
We have this growing anti-intellectualist movement in this country. That academia, science and the like are WRONG. Despite all possible proof to the contrary, despite a scientific tradition dating back millennia, it's wrong because it doesn't mesh with people's beliefs. There's never a counter study, a counter experiment. It's just random fallacies until they argue out the competition. "If we talk loudly and long enough, they will stop arguing" is not an effective academic way of disputing something. You politely disagree, provide some sort of hard fact to back up your argument, and if need be do more research. Why should we ignore that, and pretend we're all 12 years old having an argument about whether Obi Wan could have fully beaten Darth Vader? It's crazy to someone who literally would lose their job and lose standing in their program of study if I did that, that this is how entire presidential campaigns are being run.
Oliver just sums up that frustration into a joke. Something I guess the goofsters and gaffsters over on the alt right can't handle. They need a safe space to validate that their failures in life can only be blamed on themselves rather than societal issues like systematic racism or systemic sexism. Oops I ad hominem'd.

Your opinion I guess, what he said was real dumb though. "Don't matter on the overall course of humanity.." what a joke, man. That's a shit thing to say to anyone, really.

How many times does it bloody have to be brought up? You have a bowl of cherries and five are poisoned is a perfect metaphor to terrorism, any person in their right mind would either try to root them out or not eat them at all, but you can't root out the poisoned cherries once they're in your stomach.

that's not what i'm saying at all, my friend.

my point is that terrorism is terrorism, regardless of what faction or group it comes from. barring a single religious group from entering the country solely based on incidents in which the assailants claimed to have been acting upon radical religious doctrines isn't justified at all.

to respond to lovely pyro, those incidents were carried out by three or less assailants. do three people represent an entire religion? i think not.

nah it's funny cuz you've been rooting for hildog this entire time and she can't even win the nomination of her own party because she's got so much dirt on her don't even try to back her up, the FBI stated themselves they've thrown people in prison for similar shit she did with far less evidence.
only difference is she probably has friends and connections to get out of it.
