Like I said, it was a dumb thought lol.

Anyways yeah, why not make CAX optional? I don't know why we need global administrative power over every server, but I suppose kuro has is reasons, right?

I'm going to assume kuro is only making this a plugin that's going to roll out in the next update or something (hence, Official Report Plugin), which we all know can be disabled via system by unmounting the plugin, instead of making this some cax feature or something like that.

Never going to happen as kurozael will never make any schemas on that store free. The answer to your question is, you DON'T need global administrative power, and you shouldn't. When I run my servers I want to RUN them.
Then prepare for a lot of people to disable your plugin and define it as hindering and useless. You're wasting time then.

Then if we can't have it as something optional then I suppose the whole idea of it is pretty moot at this point.

tbh i think we've done p well without a global reporting system

They're saying the plugin is going to be /optional/ but that doesn't completely solve the problem on my end. You're still going to be executing and going through with these bans even if I don't allow it to be used on my server.

We have, and you're just letting more server owners have their jobs easier, and let them suck on tits more. If you complain so much about management and quality of servers, stop doing things for them and help them learn how to do it properly.

Hell if you're complaining so much about people getting in files and hacks and etc, how about working towards fixing these exploits. kuro tried doing this before, except he was "paying" money for them, which to my belief never really resulted in anything. Things like ServerGuard and Anti-Cheats exist for this reason, and are OPTIONAL. They don't come PRE-INSTALLED and aren't MANDITORY.

When it all comes down to it, I'll just make another account and use a VPN when I get CAX banned and play on Clockwork servers anyway with a new ID and a fresh "report" count.

If you want to spend $10 buying gmod again on a new steam account every time you get banned, no one is going to stop you, but you will be down $10 each time.

Also, serverguard doesn't do anything to stop exploits and whatnot.

    For you Link
Never said ServerGuard did, I don't get how that's all you pulled out of all of my posts.

Do you realize that family sharing from banned accounts is detectable? Steam tells you who they are borrowing the game from. There is a plugin that comes with clockwork that detects this exact thing.

It might need a bit of testing and more checks, but you are dead wrong if you think family sharing makes you some unstoppable threat.

And when you are talking about exploits and anti cheats, mentioning serverguard sounds like you are saying it deals with either of those things. It doesn't.

Still such a minor and irrelevant thought when the thread is about so much more

The reporting plugin will be pre-installed, but it will be opt-out. If people don't want it running, they can turn it off. I won't force people to use it, but those who are already CAX banned for gross use of exploits will remain globally CAX banned.

And it's not like people CAX banned will be CAX banned permanently (unless they are exploiters or hackers), because I don't believe in "permabans".

Why are you banning them at all for me

  12. I think the average server owner should be kept in mind, in that family sharing protection requires prior setup (however minimal it may be). A lot of people use Clockwork right out of the box.

It's very interesting that you say this... I was thinking about squeezing a little (maybe not so little) feature into the upcoming update that is basically a set of useful tutorial tips that appear for the superadmin when they first load into their server or until they disable the tutorial in their settings. It would guide them through handy things like prompting them to set up the doors on the map, or how to access the Clockwork config in the menu. Plugins would be able to add their own tutorial steps, such as setting up Family Sharing Protection.

I may squeeze this in, if not it's something I'll definitely add in the following update because I think a lot of new customers could benefit from it.

    Crude MSPaint example:
