Let me give you a rundown on any lambda resistance on any rp server ever.

guy1 stumbles upon a resistance base, which isnt hidden at all, or really attempted to be hidden
lolrebel1 walks out, dragging guy1 and stabbing him, beating him and shooting him
lolrebel1 walks back into his base grabbing lolrebel2 erping w/ her

    what i mean is

why would a resistance member violate everything resistance in formed for to end what they dislike

they're no better than the combine doing that

Let me fix the title: Okay seriously, whats with lolrebels on some every server.

    TimTimTommy birds are my fetish

Well one of my best characters I thought was

    Frank 'Paul Revere' Sheridan

On occasions I ran into people who just immigrated to the slums, confronting me with the wants of food, and sometimes weapons; which I would politely tell them off that I myself wasn't armed, (although it was a lie.) and could give them food and a place to rest.

How I got the dubbed 'Paul Revere' nick-name was because I had a radio listened into the MPF Frequency, and heard about an upcoming sweep and ran around shouting it. Did the same thing when there was scanners being called in as-well.

I don't think I shot another citizen (Unless fired upon first.) and had actually talked out an edgy lolwebul into disarming himself, and actually arming me with my first personal fire-arm, which I never used unless in self-defense.

That's what I kinda think being a 'Rebel' is.

I was a bit covert about this, (Although I did do some big operations such as move some guys from the City District into the Slum District)

The Dovahneer i can change my title

    Jesus.
Even my sociopath rebel doesn't do that.
I mean, he doesn't kill people randomly, and will help people if he gets shit in return(Mostly tokens, because he kind of runs a black market of sorts).

  4. Lol.

People don't do things in-game because of real life issues, although some may, it's not common. I don't go on HL2RP servers and roleplay beating citizens because I'm angered in life. I do it because that's how the game is portrayed and how the character being played should act.

Clearly you don't understand roleplay too much. Unless I'm mistaken, when you roleplay you're acting out a character, not yourself (Although, once again, some people may, it's still uncommon). Unless sex is uncommon in whatever part of Earth you live on, I don't quite understand how you think it should be shunned in an online game, where (hint) you're trying to portray a real life person, on a real life planet, and although the story is fictional and unlikely, both the character being played and the area they're living in are both taken from the real world.

Your psychological evaluation on players online and their interactions seems extremely close-minded, considering you didn't mention a specific area of online players, and instead spoke as if you're referring to everybody who plays a character.

Instead of assuming it has to do with in real life issues, I would (and I'm sure others would also) say it has to do with lack of information on how the character being played, should be played.

  5. You also forget we have 11 year olds trying to roleplay as 17 year olds... just today on a server a 17 year old char started screaming around as if she was 6, because she was forced to stay in bed because of a broken leg (Best PainRP btw).
Yet again I'm a bit confused. RP was created so people could be something what they aren't. So isn't it kind of obvious why everyone wants to be a super edgy movie-badass?
Adding that I've yet to see a roleplayer on the servers I were who has any idea about ballistics, kevlars, first aid, engineering etc while there are roles like GRID or HELIX, which force them to act as if they were professionals in these areas. And often they want to roleplay a char who is an ace in everything. My favorite moment is when somebody tries to argue with me whatever a combine ball is made out of dark matter or exotic matter (regarding dark matter doesn't interact with electromagnetism he gonna have a hard time seeing a combine ball, or even making the ball bounce off a wall).

The main reason for the rebel behavior is this though: Every players final goal is to have fun. Around 2-3 years ago, roleplayers still had some sort of imagination. They had fun in scientific discussions or shady plans. They had actual backstory which allowed for actual conversation between characters, which they also thought were fun. But today? The only thing that's fun for the new players is winning. Everything that prevents them from winning is bad or impossible. Everyone believes they are THE Rambo on the server. Each characters backstory is optimized to be the strongest badass. This only gets worse because of media picturing gangsters and criminals as badasses. I've already stopped calling these characters rebels. All servers only have bandits.
And as bandits, they actually fully fulfill their role. They mug, they kill, they rape. You wouldn't go up to a rapist and ask for hospitality, so don't expect it from "rebel chars" too.

The simple solution for my server was just.

delete the lambda resistance [have them wiped out in the city in canon]

have people make their own resistances that they have to be careful about and cant go fucking all "join my party lel"

It'd incite the same ending, but people would have a reason to do it, instead of just "lol more kills", considering you know, you'll probably be dead by sundown[huejoke] anyway.

  7. You're wrong, there.
There's always a black sheep or a few of them in the herd. It's not always a group-think - Not ever. There's literally always a black sheep in the herd or else everything would be God awful.

See: Almost every roleplay community on Gmod.

There's always a black sheep, and I'm under the impression that there always will be. You can't, even through group-think, not have one guy object.

Honestly, it does need a bit of clarification as far as the user goes. Not everyone is like that with real life issues. It's a possibility that I am, because I've had experience in riots and whatnot before - But I don't make abusive CP's. I actually make them pretty chill.

  8. I don't need a Major in Psychology to know how online roleplaying works. When you play as a character, you play them how they're supposed to be played based on the setting and story. You don't play a serial killer because you want to mass murder people, and you don't play someone who has sex because you're sexually distressed. I hope you realize how stupid your points seem, doesn't matter if you are studying psychology, or if you think you're right, your "theory" is completely retarded.

Although, if you want to talk about experience. I don't need any, I took psychology last year as a Sophomore and can already see the stupidity in your 'evaluation'. The only 'super-conscious desire' that a player (most often) has is wanting to play a character in a game. Have fun with psychology, because from the way you think you're automatically right and how you want to push experience on others, I highly doubt you'll last long.

  9. tbh

couldnt have said it better, really

there's some people that roleplay abuse though because of his reasons
    but rarely
