Chapter One
February 16th, 2015 - 1:47 AM | Somewhere in Eastern Europe
As most Europeans would be laying in their comfortable beds on the somber February night, Portal Storms began to loom in the distance. These Portal Storms triggered the teleportation of Xen Creatures from the planet Xen to Earth. Due to these Xen Creatures creating havoc throughout Europe, Citizens were urged to move into the city, where they could be provided safety, food, water, and security. Outside of the City, in the suburbs, Europeans would have to fend for themselves, and would not be protected what-so-ever. The large portal storms attracted The Combine, who defeated all of the armed forces throughout the world in only Seven Hours. Inside of The United Nations Headquarters in New York, Dr. Wallace Breen ordered the official surrender of Earth. Due to his efforts, The Combine awarded Dr. Breen as the ruler of Earth. After some time, Cities were inhabited by Combine forces, and were fitted to the needs of the Universal Union. Large walls, Hardpoints, and Nexus Buildings were constructed to ensure that the City's order would be kept in place, and to ensure that the society would be kept secluded from the outside world.
Chapter Two
January 29th, 2016 | The remnants of Sofia, Bulgaria.
In the remnants of Sofia, now known as City Seventeen, Citizens worked with various efforts to ensure that the streets were shoveled off properly of ice that was caused by the frigid winter air. As the snow fell upon the wet cement streets, shoveling would continue to ensure that the streets of the plaza were near-spotless. Most knew that shoveling the frozen-over ice was useless, as the streets would just freeze over again after only a half of an hour, However, the Combine Civil Protection needed it done, and done it would be. Before the war, most Citizens would be sitting in front of their hearth, keeping far away from the harsh, cold weather. As of now, luxury was no longer a word, as Citizens were expected to work to ensure the city was in a habitable condition. Inside of the factories of City Seventeen, the smoke-stacks churned out black smoke that originated from the burning of the cripple and elderly. As every day, Citizens lined up at the Civil Workers' Union to ensure a spot as a CWU Employee. Most wanted to become a-part of the Civil Workers' Union, as a better life overall was provided. Civil Workers' Union Employees were provided a higher pay, as-well as provided with more respect due to their work efforts. Throughout Precinct Six, Citizens began to see a spiked increment of illnesses and diseases. Whilst none can confirm who, or what caused the outbreak to occur, most Citizens began to point fingers at The Combine. Some speculated that The Combine used the technique of creating artificial diseases as a way to flush the Citizens out of the low-regulated slums, and into Precinct One and Two, where patrols and regulations were in place. Back in the plaza, Citizens began to unload large bags of salt to put onto the streets, which would ensure there was a good source of friction for passing APC's, and foot-mobiles.
Chapter Three
March 8th, 2016 | City Seventeen
With Spring came sunshine and pollen. Due to the constant allergy issues affecting the healthiness of the workers, The Universal Union distributed a basic level of allergy medicine to Civil Workers' Union locations, where Citizens could purchase the medicine for a some-what high price. As time went by, 'ill-minded' folks created groups of members who decided that it would be best to secure themselves an area underground, and hidden out of view. As Citizens began to work day by day, The Combine Civil Protection began to lessen the restrictions that were imposed. For instance, Citizens were now allowed to purchase media items, such as books and articles, as long as they were Pre-Universal Union approved. This is where your story begins, How will your character react to the situations that unfolded? How will you proceed to develop your character?
What type of Resistance system is implemented into the server?
Resistance members work towards helping out the Citizens of the City, instead of fearing them. While The Resistance may not give weapons to Citizens who are eager to help, they do, however offer them opportunities to earn their way into The Resistance, and earn the title as a 'Rebel'. Citizens can get tasked with simple objectives such as placing up propaganda against the Combine, Retrieving important documents that contain important locations for weapon cache's, and much, much more.
Does the map contain story elements to it?
It sure does. Around the slums, your character can engage in the reading of diaries, journals, and newspapers that contain information on the lives of those who lived before the Seven Hour War, and those who are living currently through the situation. We encourage all players to check out these documents, as there will be some IC Events that will be happening, in regards to what is happening inside of Precinct Six.
Does the server have any Hardpoints/Checkpoints?
We currently only have one Hardpoint, which is placed in-front of the Train Station. This Hardpoint is only used during events, where Citizens need to be contained inside of the area. Perhaps, if they have died during the event. This Hardpoint can also be manned for incoming Citizens from new cities, which will engage the player in more roleplay.
Do you plan to restrict a player from roleplaying?
No, We do not. A player has the freedom to pretty much visit almost any part of the map they wish, and explore. We have added in story elements, such as diaries, journals, and books to the map, that will give the players some extra things to do.
The Combine Civil Protection
The Combine Civil Protection are Citizens who have applied to become a-part of the CCP to better the lives of themselves, and to ensure that they earn a higher wage than others who work. As a result of their 'hard work and dedication', CCP Units are subject to bonuses and other payments.
The Citizens
The Citizens are the life-blood of the city. Without them, there would be no city. Citizens are free to engage with others in conversations, work for tokens, or even explore what the City has to offer, in terms of the story that we have created for our players and it's characters.
Civil Administrators
There is a maximum of six Civil Administrators. CA's are responsible for ensuring that the City is running in a smooth condition. Civil Administrator's are also responsible for Public Relations affairs. For example, Citizens can submit questions to Civil Administrators, and those questions will be answered on the daily broadcasts that Civil Administrators conduct.
Overwatch Transhuman Arm
The Overwatch Transhuman Arm are a section of soldiers that were either ex-military or composed of present time citizens and CCP that have ascended to trans-humanization, they are never seen in the city unless great danger poses a thread to city stability. More tactical and more equipped to deal with high-level situations, these are usually reserved until the Combine Civil Protection cannot deem itself competent enough to deal with dangerous situations.
Civil Workers' Union
The Civil Workers' Union is a collection of Citizens employed to better assist the Universal Union. Some divisions that CWU workers are assigned to are sewer maintenance, public relations (In assistance to Civil Administrators), public media (Newspaper Editorials), and much, much more.
