Other Possible new schema?

Discussion in 'Discussion' started by Trisha Demilion™, Jun 20, 2017.

  1. Hi, I was hoping to start a discussion on perhaps creating a new schema with the Clockwork framework. I by any means am not a coder or developer of any sort of framework, and so creating one myself would be a bit difficult. Clockwork seems to have worked for multiple different things, Half life 2 Roleplay, Atomic Roleplay, what have you, but I only see those certain schemas. But what about the Medieval Fantasy side of things?

I am an owner and manager of a medieval fantasy serious roleplay server. It's been hell of a ride trying to make the server enjoyable and entertaining for players, but we have done our best with what he have. However, the current framework we are using is borderline broken. a different framework (censored for some odd reason, perhaps to halt advertisements or not directly call out competitors?) has been given high praise throughout my time on Garry's Mod, but for whatever reason, the version we got was buggy, broken, and incredibly simplified. We can't even access our own character menu without problems. Some of the models that we add to the server do not have any walking animations, despite having a hl2 bone mesh. It just seems unstable, and unable to handle what we are trying to add to the server.

Clockwork has always been a well-crafted framework that doesn't seem to have massive, game-breaking issues, aside from the hl2rp's lock explosion bug, which got a hot fix patch. I wonder if the developers of such a stable framework could perhaps create a new genre, one for the lovers and fanatics of the magical realms and kingdoms in Medieval Fantasy. So far, most of the medieval fantasy rp servers I have seen are Dark RP with a medieval coat of paint, or just simply not serious enough to be immersed in. I aim to break this tradition, but in order to do that, I need to ask for help....

Not only would creating a Medieval Fantasy Clockwork schema assist me and my server developers, but it would help future medieval roleplay servers looking for a more serious atmosphere and can't find a good way of making one that is stable and enjoyable. I would commission this myself if not for the fact all of my available cash is stowed in my Steam wallet.

Well, perhaps other people have thoughts on the matter. It would be interesting to hear other people's perspectives on what I had to say today. So, in typical discussion-starting thread fashion...

    What do you guys think?

  2. That isn't exactly what I was desiring when I thought of a new schema with the clockwork framework. It's not the models or anything, I simply want a schema that works far more efficiently than the other schema starting with an N. The developers, I've been told, cannot purchase and modify a schema without the permission of kurozael, the original creator of the framework, and we do not wish to infringe or at the very least take the chance of upsetting anyone who developed it.

  3. Keeping the intro wouldn't make much sense as it is a hl2rp schema, so it would portray itself as hl2rp, when in reality, it's medieval fantasy.

And again, we don't want to run the risk of angering the creator of the schema by editing it to our hearts content because of what has been said before, so instead I suggested that they create a new schema that was made for medieval fantasy instead. That would create ease of multiple things, we wouldn't have to edit a schema that just wasn't built for mfrp, we'd also have a much more stable schema to run, and I'm sure mfrp would become more popular after the creation of a gamemode specific schema built on the Clockwork framework, which may make them more money. I see it as a win-win scenario.

  4. I said Clockwork was a stable framework.... That's why I brought up the discussion of implementing a new schema with the framework.

You could always create a plugin to override the Framework intro, but honestly you'd be better off just swapping out the intro images as @Reagent already suggested.
