Basically 15 year old kid from Canada went around in 2011 ddosing everyone and tried to get people to erp with him with ddos threats if they didn't. He played on some shitty apoc server of course and tried opening up a few servers that failed. (i got ddosed a lot by him for saying no, but it was w/e.) So my British friend Michael Wrenn or mikeywrenn, he dosen't hl2rp anymore but he and his friends found out that his dad owned a business through a dox I think, and they called the dad over skype and told him EVERYTHING. The last we heard from the call was the dad yelling his son's name and then a thank you for notifying him. Anarchy wasn't on for like a year or two.

That's what you get though I guess when you act like a prick with those abilities.

These kids that ddos are seriously making me cry, they run around with their free booters and think they are hot shit. I want to know if the dad sent him to that jail program where kids go visit a prison and are treated like shit. If he did, man that father's got my respect.

(I think I butchered the whole sentence idk my laptop doesnt show grammar errors like my PC does and its 3 AM here so i'm sleepy af.)

My dude -- I have done the exact same thing and the reaction of their parents yelling at their kids is so satisfying.

why does everyone get so upset about ddosing it's just turning off your internet for like an hour at the most lmao. even with the free booters it's like 10 minutes.

source: I did a lot of this shit last year

    1. It causes downtime not just for you, but others as well. People share internet infrastructure.

    2. It can cause hardware damage, resulting in huge monetary loss.

    3. Mitigating it and reducing possible damage is a pain.

    4. Most people enjoy having their internet access, and possibly being the cause of a service interruption of hundreds of people is not cool.

Source: we have been hit with 80Gbps at work.

That's work though, no one on the Garrys Mod community has a 80gb/s booter no matter how much of daddy's credit card they have.

If you are getting hit that hard on a personal level, then you've really pissed off the wrong people or some shit.

And idk what you do for a living but I think the only line of work you'd have to worry about this shit is if you worked with servers, and even then I don't see how a company can get a 80GB/s attack

maybe I don't understand how this shit works

I work at a large Norwegian IT company, we are a registered ISP. We host in the range of 3000-5000 servers along with some of the largest websites in Norway. Getting your hand on a 80Gbps booter is not hard anymore.

No matter how hard you hit someone, it still isn't cool. There is no way to justify it.

It's also illegal. To internet based companies/services a DDOS is just like attacking a physical storefront or sabotaging their operations, except you wouldn't be dealing with the local detective, you're dealing with FBI Cyber Security. While nobody pursues smalltime DDOSers yet, I suspect as we see the internet "De-Wild Westing" we'll see that sort of litigation start popping up more often.
