HL2RP Private/Whitelisted Servers

Discussion in 'Discussion' started by noel, Sep 20, 2016.

  1. Just wanted to ask you all what your thoughts were on Private/Whitelisted servers considering Subsun's been turned into a private server.

Do you like it? Loathe it? Why?

  2. They're better for roleplay bad for population.

ShadowOfDoubt In the grim dark future. There is only SCG.

They are the only way on Garry's Mod now a days to get quality roleplay. Though like Arcade said they more often lack a population.

While it's a fantastic method of quality control for roleplay it may require an already dedicated playerbase to sustain the server's population. I'd especially suggest using it if you're under an episodic format but considering you're a city RP, you may want to switch back to public to allow further exposure to Subsun.

  5. Subsun was public for ages, and we still didn't get any players, nor did we get any quality of RP haha. I guess it's lose/lose these days with HL2RP. You put X amount of effort in, and get 0 out. That is of course, you're a MemeRP server. Shame, really.

Thanks for feedback, hopefully we can flip that whole popularity thing on it's head, new LP maybe? ay?

I currently play on a different private server. The server is fairly populated, getting around 15 or so people, or more. It also happens to only be open on weekends (password changes on weekdays so staff can still set up for events etc.). I can say from experience that it is a good idea if you are doing something custom. Of course it's playerbase did transition from an open hl2rp.
