Ok...so, I am new to this but, please bare with me.
    INTRODUCTION
    [IMG]

Anyway, welcome to my thread! This is for my emerging community, Redemption's Edge.

    ABOUT THE SERVER
This server is using the CMRP (Combine Military Role Play) format of CW:HL2RP. For those of you who don't know, CMRP takes place outside the main cities, with normal- unaugmented - Conscripts enforcing the area. Citizens are refugees who have somehow gotten out of the nearby cities, and live in a town under constant watch by the Conscripts. We have a few new factions, such as Houndeyes, Bullsquids, Birds, and zombies. I have another faction coming soon once it is fixed. We use the M9K weapons pack but, we were using FAS before I broke it...whoopsie (^-^; ). We have active staff, and allow for Operator apps from those who have been around a while.

    MECHANICS
The conscripts work in a fashion similar to that of a Militia or Military, performing raids when necessary, patrolling the coast, fighting rebels, checking the thumpers constantly, etc. The way they patrol is through squads of three. At least one Sgt. or above must be in each patrol squad, allowing for a Pvt. to get the field experience necessary for a promotion. Conscripts who are a Pvt. are not allowed outside the external walls of the base. This is so that they may train in the base, and on the training ground (courtyard).

Citizens can occupy their time with ScavengeRP (Going through piles of discarded materials and rolling to see what you find), fortifying their home against outside forces (The occasional antlion attack from a sabotaged thumper, conscript raids, etc.), drinking away their troubles at the Cafe Baltic, etc.

    POLICIES AND IDEALS
I have one MAJOR policy on my server, which is: No bias. If someone is homosexual, you treat them like you would anyone else. They're a Brony? Don't single them out and start harassing them. (IC or OOC.) They're new to the gamemode? Tell them to ask staff to teach them instead of telling them to "GTFO you suck!". You get the point...I practice acceptance. Meaning, I accept people for who they are and don't treat them any differently...unless they're a complete douche...then I give them shit.

If someone is accused of being aggressively biased towards a player(s), staff would have to be presented with screenshots of them being aggressively biased
(Example in the form of a LOOC chat log:
(LOOC) John Smith: You're a brony?.
    (LOOC) Jane Smith: Yeah...
*John Smith shoots the fucking retarded brony in the head.) You get the idea.

Another ideal I have on this server is to allow people to voice their opinion without worry of being banned for it. I've seen this much to often in other communities. I look in the trash bin of their forum and see negative opinions of the server, D4nk Meme$ that utilize staff, etc. I, honestly, don't think that is a good practice. If you hate the server, feel free to state it. Just...don't expect not to get shit...you WON'T get banned or kicked but...you might still get shit from others though.

    PLUGINS
    The plugins we have are:
    HL2TS2 Clothing
    /Apply v2
    M9K Weapons Pack
    Zombies Faction
    Xenian Factions
    Force Fields
    Combine Locks
    Birds Faction
    M9K Iron Sights Fix
Cremator Faction (Not in use currently, still trying to find a work-around for the immolator)
    Trash Bins
    Civil Workers' Union Faction
    Conscripts Faction
    Affective Wounds
    And a lot more...

    OUTRO
Well, that's really all I have to say right now. Hope you consider visiting the server, I'm almost always on, there's almost always at least one staff member on (I don't have too many...I'm a small server right now) and we have zero tolerance for minges...so, don't be surprised if you see a LOT of people get banned in a day...we have a zero tolerance rule in most, if not all, cases of mingery. If you want screenshots, I can edit some in...there really isn't too much to see right now. We haven't changed the map too much and we don't have too many players right now.

What are the different things you can do as a conscript? What makes denizen rp better than other servers (or the only other one) because it normally sucks etc. I basically just want more info. I'll take a look though.
Because I'm perma banned from both scgs

no one gives a shit and a half about what plugins or addons you use on your server. not trying to be mean, but that's like having "great programming" on the back of a video game box as a selling point.

this looks.. eh. i give a 7/10. not that bad. good luck with this.

  4. The overly edgy name doesn't help your community. This has been done before and it is nothing new or innovative. This is just another server in the new batch of CW: HL2RP servers that pop up every week. I give you credit for having a good attitude.

Well...at least people aren't being complete douches...that's always a plus ^-^ But, I will be improving overtime...it's my first server so I'm still learning the basics and stuff, but I am planning on adding a few custom things once I get better are Lua.

Alright but what are you going to be able to do rp wise? Most of the time people don't really care about the lua unless it's something amazing like Lazarus is doing. We want to know what all you can do with rp. Your community manager @FPSPrussia might be able to explain it better.

My only problem with this is the idea of Citizen cities being full of escapees. I'd be fine if they were actual attempts by the Combine to settle areas outside of the established cities, like frontier zones, to gain access to more resources; however canonically any Citizen who escapes the Cities and lives outside of them without authorization has their implicit citizenship revoked, IE killed. Those Conscripts would be executing Refugees, not guarding them.

Beyond that though I've been wanting to try this gamemode and ofc Shockcore had a monopoly on it until now. Might give this a shot.

No one's really done anything related to a CMRP iirc. If you pull it off right, it might actually become better than SCG's CMRP.
Not like that's a hard thing to accomplish but hey

Daohlocks The Bible is my favorite sci-fi novel.

Jesus, everyone is expecting something astonishingly new when it's just a ROLEPLAY server, like if vanilla was a terrible thing!
I'd give anything to find a server that is just as simple as vanilla HL2RP, without any of the "CPA-APEX.SqL.i7-50192" bullshit.

OT: This looks cool, will probably check it out if my fear of Gmod addon sizes lowers a bit.

  11. I actually have been following this thread secretly. Yes even though I did go out with the asshole 'I won't go back shit' I think I've calmed down a bit and can explain a couple things in order to help out the situation people ask.
1.) I realize that Shockcore is our competition. Yet I don't want to be. I've personally haven't played on Shockcore and am Ill informed. But when looking at the Steam Group Page. I noticed it had 'Missions' At Redemption's Edge the Simple Idea is this. You have Conscripts that act as lesser police then the Metropolice within a new environment.
2.) While it is Outlands by some definitions. I don't want people to get frustrated about loot and shit. This server is more open ended to Character ideas and trying to stray away completely from PvP gameplay., While some might believe that is terrible. I think if everyone is happy it goes down great.
Here is an advert I made about that topic which is viewable within the server.
3.) I want you to know that we do break the continuity of the lore. Yet we do this with a passion to not just be a 'Conscript RP' We have a magnitude sized environment for players to interact. Sometimes without a conscript around.
4.) Please if you want to tour. I am totally for tours. We do have a player issue ATM. As in we need more, so anyway I can get you in and to become a permanent player, the better. We have attempted to make the game more friendly and colorful with more useful adverts and less text walls.
5.) I don't think we enforce the content to download to your computer. Correct me if I am wrong. So without most errors you can play pretty well. Some of the stuff is rarely used in the Content but we do have plans of things to work with it.
6.) If you want to transfer a character over, I'd be glad to. We want more personalities within this game. This follows the Anti-DayZ Policy that implies that we care less and less about physical items. Especially weapons. I once made a comic expressing the anti-weapon feeling when joining a CityRP. Here is to give some comic relief.
    Finally:
This could all change. I could be totally dead wrong about the DayZ policy and might have to change it around. Yet that is where the players come in. We've recently had tons and tons of voting for whether certain things should go certain ways. Let me share some examples.
Local Headcrab Zoo: It was mostly for my very own entertainment. Yet when most people showed signs that they weren't interested and it ruined their experience. We properly removed it.
Combine or not: We really thought about whether we should fully break lore and just say the Conscripts were a more professional resistance. Yet decided against it with a resolution that they would be UU yet they would have different policies.

This community is about you guys. Giving back for all the drama with HL2RP. While I'll admit that there is no way we can create a Drama Free environment. Our attempt to seriously cut down on what makes HL2RP bad really has come along well. From making scavenging about great /mes rather then just looking through boxes to having the community vote on topics. I really feel to express that this is my home community. The one that if I were to be fired or if it shut down. I'd miss a lot. I put a lot of time and effort into creating a home welcoming feel to the Military Base as well as countless other locations on the map, once again just to remind you. I love to give tours, don't feel hesitant to ask. If you have complaints or suggestions I encourage you to vent it on the staff rather then bottling it up.

  12. That website theme is atrocious. Pls change.

  13. Wish I would of known this earlier would of answered it in complete detail.
What I really love is the entire system of how we are running a entity of two communities combing into one environment. Its not only a semi-merge between CityRP and Outlands. Yet also between the two main factions, the Denizens and the Conscripts. I like to use the standard of thinking of it as a modern military who doesn't really wanna be there but can actually associate well with the public surrounding. Rather then the traditional Conscript shoots Citizen Roleplaying we can notice with other projects claiming the same 'Combine Military Roleplay' name. Denizens are tasked with trying to improve the living space around them. Either by making friends or making businesses. Yet the best customers are the Conscripts.

Is there people that want to shoot at these guys. Probably very likely. They are technically invaders in a foreign space. Yet some people can learn to cooperate and get along even with the differences they have. For most people its the difference of whether to give into the new power or to fight to keep humanity free. Yet others can completely ignore it.

What I am trying to imply is that you merge your new surrounding. There are no Civil Protection who may threaten you to stop talking and isolate. There are no Civil Workers' Union who dominate any form of business that is plausible. There are no Citizen Administrators sitting in large towers doing nothing but giving the same old 'Be good and our benefactors will reward' speeches. There are no loyalty points ATM. Yet I can imagine if the Conscripts got friendly enough they could allow someone near their camp and maybe even inside. Yet that loyalty isn't earned through picking up trash or doing work cycles. Its by just being human and just being there. Even a little FailRPingly. I myself had roleplayed with another now resigned Super Administrator where I roleplay that she had radiated clothes and that she went to the conscript base I could decontaminate them with BS Benefactor technology. It was quite fun and felt sorta warming and strange.

The conscript base in a CityRP standpoint could almost be called the Nexus... yet we brought someone who probably was a high level threat in to wash their clothes. Which is probably FailRP all around the boards to anyone else... yet it felt fun.

I can't tell you that we force people to RP in a certain style. If anything we are kind of very lax. Maybe that has to change for the future. Yet for now in the present it is working and so as they say 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

TL;DR: We are not CityRP but we are not BoringRP with boring inactive community players who own stores that are are never open. ** What am I saying** Just read it when you have some time.
Pls forgiv meh gaben. This freeforums crap is really bad and I tried to make the best of it. If you can find a better theme. PLEASE GIB CLAY!.

basically yes...any questions direct to Prussia please. I don't do well with explanations. We are going to be changing a few things about Loyalty Points. Eventually, yes, we will have /a/ form of Loyalty Points, but we are going to let the story of develop a bit more.

About the way we work with major IC policies and whatnot (in the case of Conscripts): Like Prussia said, the Conscripts aren't hard-ass killing machines like the CCA in CityRP. They are normal, un-augmented, non-brainwashed, humans who are trying to maintain peace in a chaotic environment. They /are/ affiliated with the UU but they have less brutal and Nazi-esque policies. They started out, barely trusting Citizens (denizens, refugees, whatever you choose to call them right now) and executing them for being past a certain point on the beach. Then, they got less strict, are slowly warming up to the denizens (I'll just call them that from now on) and are actually starting to cooperate with them, check on their well being, and even do regular business with them.

Basically, the way our world works all depends on how the different factions interact. Currently, there are barely any rebel attacks, denizens are kind and cooperative with Conscripts, and there isn't too much conflict in general. As a result, the conscripts are lax in the presence of denizens, they don't act aggressive unless under threat in some way most of the time, and the rebels don't feel the need to attack without provocation. Denizens are left in peace, they can get training from a qualified Conscript and use that training to start a business, and are basically living a happy life...well, as happy as you can get in the HL2 Universe.

Now, if a giant rebel attack were to occur on the conscript base, it would majorly affect the attitude between both factions. The denizens getting caught in between. There would be more aggressive behavior between conscripts and denizens, they would withdraw the denizen training program, and they would be more strict than they were previously. Rebel vs. conscript skirmishes would be more common, and lockdowns would be more commonplace. Denizens' businesses would probably be searched constantly and without warning.

As Prussia stated, if we are deciding whether or not to keep this faction in, or that model pack out, etc. We include the players who are online during the voting period. At the end of the voting period, I (Or any SA on at the time) will announce it and we will tally up the votes. We go with majority rules so whatever option get's the most support (A or B) is the one we go by. In the case of a tie, we would restart the vote, and keep going until either one option wins or it becomes apparent that opinion isn't going to change. If it is apparent that opinion won't waver from a tie we just drop the vote and don't change anything as a result.

  20. is the server even up?

    if so, ip?
