Roleplay through the ages.

I remember becoming a part of the HL2RP scene back in 2013, only to get kicked for mingerunning.

So, I know very little about what happened post-2013 and pre-2013. With that in mind lets have a time machine adventure throughout the roleplaying ages.

 

So you get kicked from hl2rp completely for minge-running? What?

Started roleplaying in 2006 on HL2DM, pretty sure not many here can say that. Maybe Puppy and a few others? Got Garry's Mod in 2007, started with just sandbox and eventually moved onto DarkRP, and then HL2RP.

I was a member, then an admin, then eventually senior staff at one of TnBs then larger rivals, and it was fun. There was almost no internal community dramas at any place I visited, mostly just community to community rivalship. Most people accepted permakills and started a new character with little to no fuss. People were just there to roleplay and have fun, shying away from OOC conflicts.

Most internal drama seemed to be related to those shunning people that raided other communities, honestly. Drama did pop up but was squashed out quickly. Communities were almost never a democracy save a few major changes, and the squashing of drama - even if to cover up issues with administration - usually bettered communities.

I will write more about the roleplay once I get home. I don't consider myself a good roleplayer, there is always room for improvement. I have however had the honor to see some communities really bond and shine, and some communities unfortunately falling apart, sometimes because of my own mistakes.

I will write up some stuff about my roleplay experiences later, maybe someone will enjoy reading it - even if they had issues with me, past or present.

 

What community was TnB's rival? I can only think of necropolis tbh

 

well i started on dark:fraction late 2013. it was fun before it died. after that i got into hl2rp, and had the few memories. however every time i'd just sort of, well, die or something.

 

Started with DarkRP back around the turn of the year 07/08. Played that on and off, got seriously involved with a major (for some time) DarkRP community in 2009 and was with them in various capacities until they shut down in 2014ish? In the meantime I played some more serious roleplay on various HL2RP servers, but didn't get involved in the cloud sixteen stuff until right before CW came out. Bought an OA HL2RP key to run for the DarkRP server mentioned above. Since then I've drifted around servers and been involved with a few, but really I haven't been properly invested in a GMod RP community since the C16 Cider Two and Sixx's Fallout last summer (and this was shortlived on my part).
That's my personal history, and I was mostly involved in DarkRP in this time. More stupid fun, less stupid drama.
I'm happy to talk about any of my RP experiences or my experiences with the GMod community in general.
