- New Village Added, Niflheim.

Basic Lore on the Village; The Norse country, Niflheim, is a region stuck in an eternal winter, much like the medieval area Brittania is in an endless summer and Hachiyama, the feudal Japanese region, is in spring. Niflheim?s winter cold is never ending, making it the perfect place for the dreaded frost giants, the bane of the populace. It?s the third country in the storyline of Severed Realms, and the player?s goal is to reach the world tree, Yggdrassil, before the apocalypse Ragnarok takes place and mayhem is unleashed!

The people of this country worship spirits that were once human and ascended after dying in battle as a great warrior. The idols found in the village are past heroes that resided there, celebrated and immortalized. The top players within the guild of Niflheim can even find themselves among these statues if they consistently rank high in the scoreboards!

 

I see this turned into SAO references.

-Side boss:
The Easter Bunny is a side boss in Severed Realms. To summon it, the player puts an ?easter egg? into a colorful basket that they can find hidden away in a forest. Its attacks range from laying explosive egg bombs to hopping around for area of effect damage!

One of its loot rewards is a batch of explosive eggs that the player can slot into their hotbar to use.

- Update 12/15/2014

The past few days have been a fun time of adding more spells, which we'll be tackling in chunks as the game is developed. I'll elaborate a little on how spells work in Severed.



Spells can be upgraded up to ten times. Each spell point invested will increase a spell's stats and add on special effects at certain milestones. Offensive spells for example get a damage increase of 0.1* per point, providing a fully upgraded spell with double its original damage.



Here's an example of a fully upgraded spell, the fire punch. It's a dash attack that either deals melee damage or magic damage, depending on your highest stat. At level 3 it gains a lingering fire trail, at level 5 the target is dealt 5 seconds of burn, and at level 10 incoming fire damage increases by 10% to the target for the duration of the burn.

A level capped player will have 60 spell points available, so they'll have to choose their upgrades wisely. Ideally, though, every spell will deserve a hotbar slot as long as it doesn't clash with the build choice? since all spells are public and ready to be purchased besides the class-based ones, here's to hoping that a melee tank doesn't invest into a fireball spell.


If you have any q's, feel free to ask! Next up we're going to be whipping up the intro cutscene to the game, as well as the first town's content. Or maybe we'll flesh out the boss fight mechanics and put some of those juicy sprites to use.

The dragon is the final boss of the country of Brittania, the first region of three in Severed World.

I am one of the artists for the game, Chance is another one of them. Doohl is our main coder for severed world. We're closing in on putting it up on Byond/Kongrete etc etc.

For Severed World, you have characters that you can unlock as support for dungeons. Only one can accompany you per party, unless the quest already provides a companion. You'll also be able to give gifts to the companion NPCs to improve your relationship rating, based on their preferences, and when you hit 100%, a doki heart appears above the sprite and they give you a nifty item in return. (that's as close as you'll get to wooing them...)
