I've never understood why so many owners can never even be bothered too represent their own community. lol

For one, the community is not just strictly HL2RP. While we are currently busy doing other things for the server and IRL errands, my admin asked if we could advertise, and I told him it was okay so long as it wasn't on other communities. Secondly, the reason there are two owners is because we both formed the community that is Shadow Entertainment so therefore it's only fair that we both have as equal say. That being said, I manage the server mostly, the other owner helps with the tech side of things. Now I don't see how who the owner is and the fact that an admin advertised has anything to do with people joining our server. You should think about being a little more respectful and polite before loud mouthing a perfectly normal advertisement.

 

I'm sure you mean well, but this advertisement does not live up to the standards in which us here, or others, are looking for in a HL2RP server.

Some notable things that I should mention,

1. We could quite honestly care less about your plugin list. If you're going to explain them, don't allow them to take up half the advertisement. I'm not coming to your server because you can make the map rain, ect. That's not what I am looking for in a valuable and long lasting experience.

2. Your map. I hate to break it to you, but the v2 of that map does not get as much players as the regular v1 map. It's weird, I know. The v2 has more space and is just a tidier map in general, but still suffers a population problem. (Reason? People are too lazy to install a new map, really.)

3. Your forums. Your forums are rather ugly and the color scheme in which it inherits hurt my eyes. You should go about using something like, http://www.simplemachines.org/ as it is much better on the eyes. And, hey, you're on SMF right now if you're reading this.

4. Having a large blob of text is not all that appealing. You should put some simple BBcode into the post to make it have that extra *pop*.

A list of addons, staff members and a few sentences are indeed normal advertisement. But if you want to be taken seriously here in CloudSixteen, you should make things look good and original before even thinking about posting here.

As you have downvoted, you should know that I did not post that for the same as the two (in my opinion) irrelevant criticism options given by the users below the post quoted. If you would like to know why I posted that then it would be necessary to quote the entire advertisement.

You will be okay as long as you do show improvement and are not like Freeman's Gaming with their infinite amount of advertisement topics...

Thank you for your advice, honestly this is our second attempt at getting the server up, last time went well except we had a few technical issues and a crap ton of minges. Though we cut down, we're still trying to adjust things and make them more enjoyable for the playerbase

 

I deeply recommend you to stick to what is seen in Half-Life 2, the canon and everything, without the lolroboaugmented-cp shocktroopers or CWU (which is shit stolen from TnB, again).

Come up with your own ranking system for Civil Protection, show some originality. You should also make the player feel like their characters are truly oppressed by the Combine.

Then you must not be logged into Steam, if you are using your browser. Just because it is private does not mean people cannot add me, at least if my understanding of it stands correct.

 

Joined the server and I just have to say, the lot are actually really swell people. I am actually going to tell you guys to give it a try. They're currently fixing the server and are taking our criticisms seriously and are incorporating them to make their server better. It's quite promising.

I joined your server, here is what my opinion is.

1. I loved the dark color scheme you had going on in the server, very elaborate and well done. Not sure if it was Atmos or the Manage Color in the system menu, but it was very well done in that map.

2. I'm trying to be as positive as possible, but.... Removing observer isn't a very good idea, if you needed to get around just set the observer_reset to off.

All else, was a pretty good server. The only thing that made me question some stuff was why everyone was so high ranked if the server was new, I recommend setting a SeC and a DvL then having people join and rank up to the other stuff.
